Giants OT David Diehl has agreed to a pay-cut, slashing his $4.475 million salary to $1 million.
It's a 77.7 percent reduction. The savings are likely why the Giants were able to re-sign LG Kevin Boothe. Going on 33 and coming off another shaky campaign, Diehl won't be a guaranteed a starting job, but is the favorite to man right tackle come Week 1.

Giants OL David Diehl says the team has yet to approach him about a pay cut or restructuring.
Local beat writers reported last week that the Giants had approached Diehl about lowering his $4.475 million salary, but that might not be the case. If Diehl is going to be on New York's Week 1 roster, then it's going to be at a significantly lower rate than it is now.

The Giants have approached OT David Diehl regarding a pay cut or restructure.
If he agrees, Diehl's roster spot would likely be safe. He is due a $4.475 million base salary. Diehl is currently the favorite to start at right tackle, but he also could play left guard if free agent Kevin Boothe isn't re-signed. Diehl has been thoroughly destroyed in pass protection in recent years.

Giants OT David Diehl recently underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee.
It's a minor operation, but another blow for a player already on the chopping block. Diehl surprisingly survived the Giants' first wave of cuts, but declining play, off-field issues and health concerns should punch his ticket out of New York sooner rather than later. Diehl is no longer worth his $4.475 million salary.

Giants FB Henry Hynoski has been diagnosed with an injured left MCL and chip fracture to his lateral plateau.
It's actually a positive revelation for Hynoski. When he went down during Wednesday's OTA session, it looked like Hynoski could have blown out his ACL or patella. Instead, he will undergo surgery Friday and has a realistic shot at being back for Week 1. Hynoski graded out as Pro Football Focus' fifth-best fullback in terms of lead blocking last season.

Updating a previous item, Yahoo's Jason Cole now says Hakeem Nicks did
not
skip Wednesday's OTAs as a contractual protest.
This situation could get cleared up quickly if Nicks' camp would just say why he hasn't shown up. Instead, his agent has strongly denied the absence is contract related, but won't offer any more details. Nicks was in New York as of Tuesday night, so perhaps he'll show up this week to explain. He doesn't have much leverage after posting an injury-plagued 53/692/2 line last season.
