| Pos | Role | Name |
| C | 1 | David Backes ActiveDavid Backes scored the Blues' lone goal in St. Louis' 3-1 loss Saturday night. Alex Pietrangelo and David Perron each registered an assist. Patrik Berglund had a team-high three shots on goal. Kris Russell and Kevin Shattenkirk each recorded four blocked shots. Apr 28 |
Patrik Berglund ActiveThe St. Louis Blues scored six power play goals in 18 opportunities in their first round win over San Jose. The Blues had the worst power play in the NHL for most of the first half of the regular season but then it started firing and has not let up as they were 21st overall by the end of the season. Patrik Berglund and Andy McDonald each had two against the Sharks while Alexander Steen (the third member of the line) and Jason Arnott also found the back of the net with the man-advantage. Apr 27
Jason Arnott SidelinedThere are conflicting reports on the health of Jason Arnott. The Blues are reporting that Arnott has a lower body injury but there are rumors abound that Arnott is not at all happy that he is not being played by coach Ken Hitchcock. Arnott did not practice on Saturday. Stay tuned. May 6
Scott Nichol ActiveScott Nichol scored the lone goal for Blues in a 3-1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings Monday night. Playing in his 600th game tonight, Nichol scored his second goal of the season on a poor line change by the Wings. Nichol played 392 games in the minors before sticking in NHL. He shouldn't be on your fantasy radar. Jan 23
Jaden Schwartz ActiveJaden Schwartz is happy with the experience he gained in 2011-12 after he joined the St. Louis Blues from Colorado College in March. "I really learned a lot," said Schwartz. "One of the biggest things was getting to know the guys and the coach's system ... just feeling more comfortable coming in next year. I've got to earn a spot, so I'm looking forward to a good off-season." He netted two goals and added one assist in seven regular season appearances, but didn't get a chance to suit up in any of the team's playoff contests. May 9
| LW | 1 | David Perron ActiveDavid Perron scored the series game winner after coach Ken Hitchcock switched lines in the third period. Perron was switched with David Backes and lined up with Patrik Berglund and T.J. Oshie while Backes was with Alexander Steen and Andy McDonald. The switch came from assistant coach Scott Mellanby. "Thank God, he suggested it on the bench to me," Hitchcock said. "He said, ‘I think it’s time to flip the centers again ... we need a different energy going.’ And it worked. That’s the second time it worked in this series. Flipping the centers gave them new focus, new energy. We practice that way and the guys were ready for it." The Blue are off to the second round of the playoffs which should start late next week. Apr 22 |
Andy McDonald ActiveAndy McDonald maintained his goal-scoring prowess this postseason with one in a 5-2 loss to the Kings in Game 2 of their Western Conference semi-final series. McDonald has goals in five of his last six games and remains the Blues leading scorer overall with 5-4-9 in seven games. May 1
Alexander Steen ActiveAlexander Steen scored what proved to be the game-winning goal and added an assist in St. Louis' 4-3 win over host San Jose in Game 3 of their Western Conference first-round series. Steen’s goal, a carry-over power-play marker, came at 0:59 of the third period with San Jose’s Daniel Winnik off for boarding. The goal, the first of Steen’s NHL postseason career, was his only shot on goal of the evening and gave St. Louis a 4-1 lead. Apr 17
T.J. Oshie ActiveT.J. Oshie didn't have a goal in St. Louis' first-round series win over San Jose, but he did play well over the five games it took to eliminate the Sharks. "He was very good in the first series ... very, very good," coach Ken Hitchcock said. "He's a really competitive guy and when you're playing the same team over and over again, his style of play to me can wear on the opposition. His dogged determination on the puck is what really impacts a series. He's going to have to do it again because, man, whatever (Los Angeles) line they play against, he's going to have a real significant opponent to play against in the next series." If you want a rundown of Oshie's statistics, he posted three assists, nine hits, seven blocks and eight shots. His line will likely draw the assignment of shutting down the top unit of the Kings in the second round of the postseason. Apr 25
Evgeny Grachev ActiveEvgeny Grachev has been called up by the St. Louis Blues. Grachev had three goals and 10 points in 39 games with AHL Peoria this season. He also has a goal and four points in 34 career NHL contests. Apr 20
Vladimir Sobotka ActiveVladimir Sobotka netted the game-winning goal in the Blues' 3-0 victory Saturday night. David Backes and David Perron accounted for St. Louis' other two goals. T.J. Oshie registered two assists for the Blues. Andy McDonald also registered an assist, giving him five points in six games, including his final four regular season contests. St. Louis now has tied their first round series at 1-1. Apr 14
B.J. Crombeen ActiveThe Los Angeles Kings and St. Louis Blues combined for 110 penalty minutes in Game 2 of their second-round series. Leading the way for Los Angeles was Dustin Brown (14) and Jordan Nolan (12). On the Blues' side, B.J. Crombeen (15), Carlo Colaiacovo (12) and Matt D'Agostini (10) all had double-digit penalty minutes. The Blues were the fourth-most penalized team in the NHL during the regular season, with the Kings slotting in at 14th. May 1
| RW | 1 | Chris Stewart ActiveChris Stewart understands this off-season is important in order to rebound from a disappointing year. His conditioning was questioned during a lackluster campaign that saw him earn 15 goals and 30 points in 79 games after he generated 28 markers and 53 points over 62 contests with Colorado and St. Louis the season before. Stewart will be a restricted free agent this summer. May 9 |
Matt D'Agostini ActiveMatt D'Agostini scored his first career playoff goal on Monday night in Game 2 versus Los Angeles. He has appeared in just two games for the Blues during this postseason and has served as a healthy scratch for the other contests. D'Agostini played alongside Vladimir Sobotka and Jason Arnott on the third line and coach Ken Hitchcock was pleased with their work. May 2
Jamie Langenbrunner ActiveJamie Langenbrunner netted just his fifth goal of the season on Tuesday. Langenbrunner scored 29 goals in 2008-09, but the days of him having any fantasy value in standard leagues are over. Unless you're in a particularly deep draft, you shouldn't select Langenbrunner in 2012-13. Mar 14
Ryan Reaves ActiveRyan Reaves will draw back into the St. Louis lineup on Sunday for the first time in eight games. Reaves has been a healthy scratch in the previous seven games but will replace B.J. Crombeen on the fourth line alongside Jamie Langenbrunner and Scott Nichol. The Blues enforcer will bring some much needed toughness to the team and should provide some energy. "I'm really excited," Reaves said. "Hopefully I can bring something to the table, a little bit of physical energy to help get the boys going. (The Kings) are a physical team and I think we're kind of playing into their hands right now. They've been running us around a little bit, so I think we have to turn the tide." Stay tuned and don't be surprised if Reaves drops his gloves early on. May 6
Chris Porter ActiveChris Porter, who scored the St. Louis Blues lone goal on Saturday, impressed coach Ken Hitchcock. "He was great," Hitchcock said of Porter. "He was our best player today. He was by far our best player. He was hungry, wanted the puck. We talked to him about that when I watched him in the (American Hockey League). I told him the puck's got to be part of his game, a much bigger part of his game. He was excellent today." Porter has spent 11 of the Blues' last 14 games in the press box, but he's a good bet to be in the lineup on Tuesday. Feb 6
Adam Cracknell ActiveThe St. Louis Blues have called up Adam Cracknell. Cracknell will provide the Blues with some extra depth, but he probably won't get much, if any, playing time in the postseason. He had 23 goals and 49 points in 72 AHL games this season. Apr 20
| D | 1 | Alex Pietrangelo ActiveAlex Pietrangelo admitted that the lower body injury he suffered in the second round of the playoffs was a sprained knee. Pietrangelo sustained the injury in Game 1 when he was hit into the boards by Los Angeles' Dwight King. "Yeah, it happened on the hit," Pietrangelo said. "I could feel something wrong. I went off (the ice) and they re-evaluated it and realized there was more of an issue than I originally thought. But we did a pretty good job working on it the next couple of days and I got back to pretty good health." Pietrangelo was smashed into the boards head first, which caused some initial speculation that he might have a concussion. Pietrangelo said that was his first worry, but fortunately he was fine in that regard. May 9 |
Kevin Shattenkirk ActiveKevin Shattenkirk netted the St. Louis Blues' lone goal in their 3-1 loss Sunday. With that defeat, the St. Louis Blues have been eliminated from the playoffs. Barret Jackman assisted on Shattenkirk's goal. David Perron and Alex Pietrangelo each finished the game with a minus-three rating. May 6
Carlo Colaiacovo ActiveCarlo Colaiacovo had three assists in the Blues’ 4-3 win over San Jose in Game 3 of their Western Conference opening-round series. Scratched for the series opener, Colaiacovo played 19:06 and had four shots in Game 2 before recording a trio of assists Monday night – the first three points of his NHL playoff career. Two of the assists came with the man advantage during an evening in which he logged 20:12. Colaiacovo was a plus-1. Apr 17
Kris Russell ActiveTeam Canada will add Kris Russell to their World Championship roster. He is slated to arrive in Helsinki on Thursday and Canada's next match will take place on Friday versus Finland. Russell registered six goals, 12 points and a plus-12 rating in 55 games between Columbus and St. Louis during the 2011-12 campaign. May 10
Barret Jackman ActiveBarret Jackman (hip) was in the Blues' regular defensive rotation during St. Louis' Saturday morning skate and will likely play Saturday night against the Wild. Activate him if you need him. Jan 14
Ian Cole ActiveIan Cole will replace Carlo Colaiacovo on the St. Louis blueline for Game 4 Sunday. Cole played in Game 2 as he replaced an injured Alex Pietrangelo but was a healthy scratch in Game 3. "Cole will play, again, more size, so … we're close," coach Ken Hitchcock said. "Last game was our best game, so tomorrow hopefully we'll be a little bit better." Cole was on a defensive pairing with Kevin Shattenkirk in practice on Saturday so expect him to remain there when both teams are at even strength. The other pairings were Alex Pietrangelo alongside Barret Jackman while Roman Polak and Kris Russell skated together. May 6
Roman Polak ActiveRoman Polak (knee) will return to the Blues' lineup on Saturday. Polak doesn't get a lot of points, but he is a great defensive defenseman. "He's a dangerous guy to play against, he's reckless, he's physical and I think we need that in our lineup right now," Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said. "We got a little bit away from it and he brings that edge to us. He gives us a real stable third pair, which is exactly what we need." Mar 31
Kent Huskins ActiveKent Huskins is slated to start the playoffs on the Blues' top defense pairing alongside Alex Pietrangelo. Huskins played with the San Jose Sharks in his previous two seasons, so he has plenty of motivation to advance his new squad in the postseason. Carlo Colaiacovo will start the opening round as a healthy scratch. Apr 11
| G | 1 | Brian Elliott ActiveBrian Elliott kicked out 16 of 18 shots in a 3-1 loss Sunday afternoon. The St. Louis Blues have been eliminated in four games by the Los Angeles Kings. Elliott isn't the sole reason the Blues lost this series, but his performances in Game 2 and 3 didn't help matters. He was one of the best goaltenders in the regular season, but given the presence of Jaroslav Halak and Elliott's shaky history, Elliott should be regarded as a gamble going into fantasy drafts for the 2012-13 campaign. May 6 |
Jaroslav Halak SidelinedJaroslav Halak sustained a high-ankle sprain when teammate Barret Jackman inadvertently collided with him in Game 2 of the first round against San Jose. He was forced to sit out seven of the team's nine playoff games as a result of the injury and will use the summer to recovery. "Jaro has got long rehab ahead of him," coach Ken Hitchcock said. "He's got a lot of work to do before he can get back on the ice and participate." The Blues have their goaltending tandem of Halak and Brian Elliott under contract for the next two seasons, so expect them to start 2012-13 sharing the crease once again. May 9
Jake Allen ActiveThe St. Louis Blues have recalled goaltender Jake Allen from the minors. The move is a precautionary one, precipitated by the injury to goaltender Jaroslav Halak. Halak left Saturday's game with a lower body injury after being run into by teammate Barret Jackman who collided with the goalie after trying to break up a pass to the Sharks' Martin Havlat. Allen was 13-20-2 this season with Peoria of the AHL with a 2.93 GAA and a .915 save percentage. The Blues are high on the 21-year-old as he was selected 34th overall in the 2008 Entry Draft and a reason the Blues dealt Ben Bishop to Ottawa at the trade deadline for a second round pick. Apr 15
