| Pos | Role | Name |
| C | 1 | Olli Jokinen ActiveOlli Jokinen is interested in re-signing with the Calgary Flames. "It’s always tough to move your family and that kind of stuff," Jokinen said. "But on the other hand, I think it’s been well reported that I want to stay here. There haven’t been any changes since the season’s been over." It remains to be seen if the Calgary Flames have much interest in bringing him back. They might have already replaced him by signing Roman Cervenka. Jokinen recently underwent successful abdominal surgery. May 5 |
| 2 | Mikael Backlund SidelinedMikael Backlund (arm) skated on Friday. Backlund suffered an arm injury on the second Saturday in February and never returned to the lineup. The Flames like his offensive potential but he managed only four goals and 11 points in 41 games this season. Keep him in mind in fantasy drafts next season if you need a late sleeper pick in deep drafts. Apr 7 |
| 3 | Blair Jones ActiveBlair Jones was back in action against Dallas Saturday afternoon. He had been sidelined the last six weeks with a broken ankle. Jones took a regular shift on the fourth line, playing 8:27, and was minus one against the Stars. Needless to say, he has no fantasy value. Mar 25 |
| 4 | Matthew Stajan ActiveFor the second game in a row, Matt Stajan was the only Calgary Flames forward to score a goal, although each time the team managed to squeeze charity points out of the contest. This time around, the Colorado Avalanche beat them 2-1 in OT. Stajan has been a sneaky-good add lately, so ignore his overall crummy stats and give him a shot. To be exact, he has five goals and three assists in his last eight contests with just one pointless game. Mar 21 |
| 5 | Paul Byron ActiveThe Calgary Flames summonned Paul Byron prior to Tuesday's game. Byron ended up scoring his third goal of the season on a penalty shot. He also had three shots on goal in 10:19 minutes of playing time. Feb 15 |
| LW | 1 | Alex Tanguay SidelinedAlex Tanguay (undisclosed) did not practice on Friday and will not be in the Calgary lineup Saturday. Look elsewhere if you need help in assists on the final night of the NHL season as Tanguay will finish the season with 13 goals and 36 assists in 64 games. Apr 7 |
| 2 | Michael Cammalleri ActiveMichael Cammalleri was given the Montreal Canadiens sweater that he wore in his last game as a Hab. Cammalleri requested the jersey when he was traded from Montreal to Calgary on January 12, but then GM Pierre Gauthier allegedly demanded that Cammalleri pay for the uniform. He received it in the mail from Montreal president Geoff Molson on Friday."Just received a hand written letter from Geoff Molson and my jersey from last game as a hab," Cammalleri wrote Friday on his Twitter account. "Much appreciated thank you. Merci." That's class from the Montreal organization. Apr 22 |
| 3 | Curtis Glencross ActiveCurtis Glencross hasn't scored a goal in his last seven games. Prior to his recent drought, Glencross had potted a marker in seven consecutive contests. The 29-year-old winger has registered a career-high of 25 goals and 45 points in 61 games this year, but his slump has come at an inopportune time. The Flames have scored a mere six goals over their last five matches and are three points back in the West for the final playoff spot. Mar 26 |
| 4 | Blake Comeau ActiveBlake Comeau, who is scheduled be a restrict free agent this summer, is hoping to have a strong finish to the season. "I'm 26 years old, I still feel like I'm improving," Comeau said. "There's parts of my game that I can improve. Especially being put on waivers this year, it was very humbling." If the Flames want to keep Comeau, then they need to present him with a qualifying offer of $2.5 million. Otherwise he'll be an unrestricted free agent when the free agent period starts on July 1st. Given that Comeau has just 14 points in 72 games this season, we wouldn't be surprised if he has to look for employment with another team this summer. Apr 5 |
| 5 | Lance Bouma ActiveLance Bouma was back in the Calgary lineup against the Stars Saturday afternoon. He had been out of action since March 4th with an upper-body injury but has seemingly recovered. As Bouma recieved only 7:19 of ice time against Dallas, he obviously has no fantasy value. Mar 25 |
| RW | 1 | Jarome Iginla ActiveFlames GM Jay Feaster thinks the Calgary Flames search for a new head coach is entering the "middle innings." Feaster cautioned that he doesn't want to "set an artificial deadline." The Calgary Flames and former head coach Brent Sutter decided to go their separate ways. Since then, Calgary has been conducting an exhaustive search. Abbotsford Heat coach Troy Ward is believed to be one of the contenders for the job. May 24 |
| 2 | Lee Stempniak ActiveLee Stempniak scored once in the Flames' 3-2 shootout loss to the Minnesota Wild Thursday night. It was the Flames first power play goal in seven games (16 attempts) and Stempniak's 13th marker of the season. The veteran forward has 25 points in 54 games this season. Mar 22 |
| 3 | Tim Jackman ActiveTim Jackman got four penalty minutes in a 3-0 loss Wednesday. Jackman has seven points and 92 penalty minutes in 71 games. Jay Bouwmeester had six blocked shots. Mar 29 |
| 4 | David Moss SidelinedDavid Moss is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. Moss made $1.3 million in 2011-12, but he might have a tough time getting a raise after an injury-riddled season. He had nine points in just 32 games. Apr 9 |
| 5 | Tom Kostopoulos ActiveTom Kostopoulos will play in his 600th game on Tuesday. That might sound like a milestone most players would ignore, but actually it has some special meaning for them. In the current CBA, players are allowed to request their own room during road games once they have 600 games under their belt. "I’ve been on (team services manager) Sean O’Brien’s back for the last week, telling him I’m almost there," said Kostopoulos, chuckling. "As much as I like Matt Stajan and Tim Jackman, my roommates, I think I’m going to take (the single room)." His soon-to-be former roommate, Stajan, is almost at the 600 mark too. Mar 6 |
| D | 1 | Mark Giordano ActiveMark Giordano was approached about playing on Team Canada in the 2012 IIHF World Championship, but he decided against it. Giordano felt that he was too banged up to play in the tournament. He was able to finish the regular season and, barring something unforeseen happening, he should be fine for the start of training camp. Apr 16 |
| 2 | Jay Bouwmeester ActiveJay Bouwmeester has played in 717 career games without winning a single postseason contest. Olli Jokinen holds the record for having to participate in 799 games before he finally made the playoffs. In other words, if Bouwmeester stays healthy, he might tie Jokinen's record in 2012-13. May 2 |
| 3 | Anton Babchuk ActiveAnton Babchuck scored his first goal of the season on Thursday. It has been a horrible season for Babchuk who had eight goals and 27 point for the Flames last season after a November trade from Carolina. He has been a healthy scratch on numerous occasions this season rendering him useless as a fantasy player. His goal was on the power play as the Flames had a 5-3 advantage. Mar 23 |
| 4 | Chris Butler ActiveChris Butler has agreed to play for Team USA in the IIHF World Championship. Butler had two goals and 15 points in 68 games this season. He completed the first season of his two-year/$2.5 million contract. Apr 21 |
| 5 | Scott Hannan ActiveScott Hannan (upper body) was activated from the IL on Tuesday January 17. Hannan missed four straight games due to the ailment. He blocked a shot and registered a hit in 20:19 minutes of playing time Tuesday. Jan 18 |
| 6 | T.J. Brodie SidelinedT.J. Brodie participated in the morning skate on Thursday for the first time since suffering a concussion on March 9. The defenseman will not play again in the NHL this season with the Flames only having one more game on their schedule but it was good for him to get back on the ice. "I've never had (a concussion) before. I feel good for a couple of days, would try to do something, then feel bad after that and had to go back and take a couple of days off again," Brodie said. "I just want to get healthy. I feel pretty good. Still not cleared yet, but definitely feeling better than I was." He will be back for the start of training camp in September. Apr 6 |
| 7 | Derek Smith SidelinedDerek Smith suffered an upper body injury in the second period and did not return. Just an FYI as the defenseman has only two goals and nine points this season. Consider him day-to-day for now. Mar 23 |
| 8 | Cory Sarich ActiveCory Sarich returned to action on Friday March 30. He logged 16:31 of ice time after being sidelined since since Mar. 20 with an upper-body injury. Sarich concluded the contest with a minus-1 rating and one shot. Mar 31 |
| 9 | Clay Wilson ActiveClay Wilson is still hoping to earn a permanent spot in the NHL, even though the odds are against him. Wilson recently turned 29 and he's only played in 36 career NHL contests. The odds of him ever being anything more than an injury replacement at the NHL aren't great, but he hasn't given up. "I’m just going to keep on trying," Wilson said. "Hopefully, I’ll find a niche, an opportunity where I’m needed." The one thing Wilson has going for him is that his contract becomes one-way in 2012-13, which means he'll get paid $525,000 even if plays in the AHL. Apr 30 |
| G | 1 | Miikka Kiprusoff ActiveSaturday could be the last time that Miikka Kiprusoff dons a Calgary Flames uniform. Kiprusoff has two years remaining on his contract but this off-season will be the first time the no-movement clause in the contract will expire. There are many reports out there that the Flames need to start re-building and the first change could be in goal where Kiprusoff could fetch a lot of assets in a deal. "He’s our heart and soul," Curtis Glencross said. "Our backbone. He’s the one who gives us a chance to win most nights." He has been very good once again this season as he has 35 wins with a 2.35 GAA and .921 save percentage in 70 games. Stay tuned in the off-season as it should be interesting. Apr 7 |
| 2 | Henrik Karlsson ActiveHenrik Karlsson stopped 23 of 25 shots to pick up his first victory of the season as the Flames defeated Anaheim 5-2. It was the seventh start of season for Karlsson and he finally picked up the victory. He had a tough start to the season when he injured his MCL on December 4 as Leland Irving took over his role as the backup to Miikka Kiprusoff. Apr 7 |
