Matt Carle has decided to hang up the skates.
Selected 47th overall in 2003 by San Jose, Carle steps away from the game after 12 seasons and 730 games in which he scored 45 goals and 283 points spread over his time with Tampa (twice), Philadelphia and finally Nashville. His best seasons were from 2009-12 with Philly where he posted 11 goals and 113 combined points. CapGeek notes Carle signed a trio of contracts valued at a total of $51.55M. Nashville will be cleared of the remainder of his $700K cap hit this season.
