Green was assessed a penalty for cross-checking Dorsett in retaliation, which angered the Capitals. "That play to me is the one that does concern me because it looked like a slew-foot to me and obviously that's why Mike reacted," coach Adam Oates said. "Mike's not that type of player, and you're watching it. To me it looks like a slew-foot. Very dangerous play. McDonagh's goal with only two seconds remaining in the second period tied the game at one apiece and it gave the Rangers lots of momentum heading into the third. The momentum continued early in the third as the Rangers made it 2-1 when Derek Stepan scored 14 seconds into the period but rookie defenseman Torey Krug scored on the power play just 2:41 later as Steve Eminger was in the penalty box for holding Rich Peverley. The Bruins took over the game after that, especially in the overtime where they outshot the Rangers 16-5 and finally won it on Brad Marchand's goal. Game 2 is in Boston Sunday at 3pm ET. May 17 |
