| Pos | Role | Name |
| C | 1 | Claude Giroux ActiveThe Flyers seemingly want to tie up Claude Giroux for the long term. The team allegedly will be offering an assortment of long-term deals to the talented forward who will become an unrestricted free agent after next season. Giroux currently makes $5 million with a cap hit of $3.75 million. Look for him to cash in big in these negotiations. Jun 15 |
Daniel Briere ActiveAccording to source the Flyers were considering trying to trade Daniel Briere prior to the 2013 NHL Entry Draft later this month. However, according to the source that plan has changed now and Philadelphia appear to be resolved to buying out the remainder of his contract. He has a no-movement clause and would need to approve any trade, so using a compliance buyout is the easier route. The Flyers have to shed some cap space after reportedly agreeing in principle to a 4-year, $21 million deal with defenseman Mark Streit. Jun 18
Sean Couturier ActiveSean Couturier regressed in his sophomore season despite getting more ice time. He registered four goals, 15 points and a had a minus-8 rating in 46 games after he recorded 13 markers, 27 points and a plus-18 rating in 77 matches during his rookie campaign. Couturier averaged almost two minutes of extra ice time in 2013, while playing mostly on the third line, but his numbers took a step backward. He still has the potential to be a solid two-way forward though. Apr 30
Maxime Talbot I.L.Maxime Talbot has a broken bone in his leg. The Flyers haven't provided a timetable for Talbot's return other than to say he's out indefinitely. Still, with roughly four weeks left in the season, it would be surprising to see him play again in this campaign. He has 10 points and 23 penalty minutes in 35 games this season. Apr 1
Adam Hall ActivePhiladelphia has taken Adam Hall off waivers from Tampa Bay. The Lightning reacquired Hall from Carolina on Tuesday after putting him waivers last month. In 26 games this season, Hall has four assists and 47 hits. Apr 3
Zac Rinaldo SidelinedZac Rinaldo has agreed to a two-year contract extension with the Philadelphia Flyers. In 32 games this year, Rinaldo has posted five points and 85 penalty minutes along with 143 hits. He is expected to miss the rest of the regular season after suffering a high ankle sprain on April 3 against Montreal. Apr 17
Scott Laughton ActiveScott Laughton has been summoned by the Philadelphia Flyers. Laughton has a goal and three points in six AHL games this season. He also had 56 points and 72 penalty minutes in 49 OHL contests in 2012-13. He's already participated in five matches with Philadelphia and is searching for his first NHL point. Apr 22
| LW | 1 | Scott Hartnell ActiveScott Hartnell was a disappointment in 2013. Missing 16 games with a broken foot didn't help, but when he played he wasn't nearly as productive as he was during the 2011-12 campaign. Hartnell averaged just 0.34 points-per-game while recording eight goals and 11 points in 32 matches. Last year, he clicked at a 0.82 points-per-game rate and posted career highs with 37 goals and 67 points. If the Flyers don't make any moves up to compliment their top six during the off-season then Hartnell should get an opportunity to rebound next season alongside Claude Giroux on Philadelphia's top line. May 8 |
Simon Gagne ActiveSimon Gagne has been skating on the top line with Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek. which has helped renew his on-ice vigor. "I'm starting to enjoy the game again, that's been the main issue," Gagne said. "The last two years have been a little bit tough. Health was an issue. Not playing as much as I wanted was an issue. I'm back to being healthy again. I'm starting to feel good on the ice. Even when we're losing right now, I'm having fun coming to the rink. That's something that, to start the season, I lost a little bit. All that helped me get a good feeling again about the game." He has six points in his last eight games and is hoping to stay with the Flyers beyond the end of this season. The 33-year-old winger is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent in the summer. Apr 18
Tye McGinn ActiveThe Philadelphia Flyers have called up Tye McGinn. McGinn has five points and 19 penalty minutes in 18 games with the Flyers this season. He also has 26 points and 54 PIM in 46 AHL contests in 2012-13. Apr 22
Mike Knuble ActiveMike Knuble will likely be a healthy scratch Saturday against Ottawa. The 41-year-old winger will make a decision in the coming months whether he will retire for good. We have always been supporters of Knuble but it has been some time since he has been a fantasy factor. Apr 27
Jay Rosehill ActiveJay Rosehill may play Saturday against Carolina. He got a black eye in a fight earlier in the week but did participate in the Flyer practice. Consider him probable. Apr 20
Jody Shelley I.L.Jody Shelley's hip injury will require surgery. The date for the procedure hasn't been determined yet and a timetable for his return is uncertain as well. Shelley has played in just one game this season, but he sits often as a healthy scratch. He shouldn't be on your fantasy radar even if you are desperate for penalty minutes. Feb 14
| RW | 1 | Jakub Voracek ActiveJakub Voracek is reportedly OK after wrecking his car in an accident this morning in the Czech Republic. Philadelphia GM Paul Holmgren released this statement: "I spoke with Jake this morning. He was involved in a car accident in the Czech Republic. Although his car did suffer damage, there were no injuries. Jake is fine." Voracek totaled his Ferrari in the accident, but it's a relief that he wasn't hurt. May 22 |
Wayne Simmonds ActiveWayne Simmonds scored his first career hat trick in the Flyers' 5-3 win over the Hurricanes Saturday. The 24-year-old right winger finished with a career-high four points in the win on Saturday. "It feels good," Simmonds said after the game. "I feel like Scott Hartnell today." Hartnell registered a hat trick in Montreal on Monday. Simmonds can be a valuable fantasy all-around contributor for the stretch run. Apr 21
Brayden Schenn ActiveBrayden Schenn isn't discouraged by his lack of significant progress in his sophomore season. "It's been a little inconsistency, but at the same time, I think I've made strides," he said. "I'm still a young player in this league and still learning. The more experience you get, the more you learn from the older players on the team, and it's only going to help you." Schenn had 12 goals and 18 points in 54 games last season and he tallied eight markers and 26 points in 47 contests this past campaign. He did manage to finish third among the team in hits with 109, so he has the potential to develop into a solid rough and tumble forward. Apr 30
Ruslan Fedotenko ActiveRuslan Fedotenko (shoulder) was back in the lineup for the Flyers on Thursday. Fedotenko left Monday's game during the second period with an apparent shoulder injury. He finished Thursday's game with three shots on goal and one hit in 10:30 of ice time. Apr 19
Jason Akeson ActiveJason Akeson scored his first NHL goal in his debut on Saturday. "It feels pretty good," Akeson said. "It's pretty exciting. The puck popped out there on a nice play by G (Claude Giroux) and luckily I was able to put it home. I know my family and friends are here and are probably loving it just as much as I am right now. It's fun to experience this. I don't know what else I can say. I'm pretty speechless right now." Akeson had an amazing season. He started with the ECHL Trenton Titans and worked his way up the ranks. Apr 28
| D | 1 | Mark Streit ActivePhiladelphia GM Paul Holmgren didn't confirm the signing of Mark Streit, which isn't surprising. Announcing a deal would violate the salary cap right now, so Holmgren's official statement was that there's "nothing to report." He added that he continues to have talks with Streit's agent and he "remains confident that we will get something done," but according to reports the two sides have agreed in principal to a 4-year, $21 million contract. Jun 18 |
Kimmo Timonen SidelinedKimmo Timonen is still deciding on his future but it sounds like the 2013-14 season will be his last in the NHL. "To be honest, I'm going into the summer thinking this might be my last year," he told reporter Anthony SanFilippo on Thursday. "The mindset I have right now is that I just want to enjoy every moment next year because that could be it ... I'm not saying this is 100 percent my last year, but it could be. It's definitely pretty close to the end." He has been hinting at retirement for a couple of years now, but he wants to represent Finland at the 2014 Olympics. Jun 11
Braydon Coburn SidelinedBraydon Coburn separated his left shoulder on Thursday. Coburn is out indefinitely due to the injury. He doesn't have much fantasy value in standard leagues, but does rank fourth on the team with 76 hits and third with 61 blocked shots. Mar 29
Andrej Meszaros I.L.Philadelphia GM Paul Holmgren expects Andrej Meszaros to be fully recovered for next season. "Andrej is a big, strong guy," Holmgren said. "He has had 18 months of bad luck ... the work they did on his shoulder will make it stronger. He's a hard-working kid. I have no issues or worries." Meszaros was limited to 11 games in 2013 and his season ended after he played March 26 against the Rangers because he needed shoulder surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff. Apr 29
Nicklas Grossmann SidelinedNicklas Grossmann is still suffering from post-concussion syndrome. He is scheduled to revisit a neurologist in Pittsburgh on May 6, along with fellow Flyers defenseman Marc-Andre Bourdon, for follow-up exams. They are suffering from vestibular imbalance, which affects motion and balance. It is the same affliction that has hindered Chris Pronger from returning to normalcy. Apr 29
Luke Schenn ActiveLuke Schenn registered eight hits and finished with a plus-3 rating in Philadelphia's 5-2 win over Boston Tuesday night. He also added an assist. Schenn has 11 points and a plus-2 rating on the year. Schenn still leads all NHL defenders with 173 hits. He is the only Flyers defenseman who has stayed healthy from the start of the year. Apr 24
Kurtis Foster ActiveWith injuries to Kimo Timonen and Nicklas Grossman, Kurtis Foster could be in the lineup Saturday afternoon against the Jets. Timonen is a game-time decision and his status will have a bearing on whether Foster plays. Foster has been a regular healthy scratch this season. Apr 6
Bruno Gervais SidelinedBruno Gervais will undergo surgery to repair a torn stomach muscle and will be sidelined indefinitely. It's not clear when Gervais suffered the injury but it shouldn't affect fantasy lineup given his minimal production. Gervais will likely miss the remainder of the season. He has one goal and six points in 37 points this season. Apr 16
Erik Gustafsson ActiveErik Gustafsson scored the game-winning goal Wednesday in Philadelphia's comeback win over Montreal. The Flyers scored three goals in the third period to rally from a 3-2 deficit. Gustafsson recorded five shots and logged 17:17 of ice time in the match. He has three points in 15 games this campaign. Apr 4
Kent Huskins SidelinedKent Huskins (concussion) will not return on Tuesday, but he might play before the end of the season. Huskins has an assist in 19 games this season. He's scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. Apr 22
Matthew Konan ActiveMatthew Konan has been promoted by the Philadelphia Flyers. Konan has six points and 54 penalty minutes in 45 AHL games this season. This isn't his first stint with the Flyers, but he hasn't made his NHL debut yet. Apr 22
Oliver Lauridsen ActiveOliver Lauridsen has impressed the Flyers in his short time with the team. The rookie blueliner has only played in 14 games, but he has goals in two straight -- including the winner on Thursday -- and was a physical force in the last game with four hits and four blocked shots. "When you come up and make an impact with the big club, you start to talk about that person and start to look forward to the future with that person," Laviolette said. "Somebody who brings his size and his presence onto the ice, I think is a positive. He's a towering man, he plays with a physical edge, and he's kept the game simple up here." Apr 26
Andreas Lilja ActiveAndreas Lilja has been sent down to the minors. Lilja made his season debut on Jan. 29 and hasn't played since. He might get called up again this season, but he won't have any fantasy value in standard leagues. Feb 16
Brandon Manning ActiveBrandon Manning made his season debut Tuesday night and he earned his first NHL point, with an assist, in Philadelphia's 4-2 win versus the Rangers. He played four games with the Flyers last season. Despite his helper, Manning isn't expected to have much, in any, fantasy value during his latest NHL stint. Apr 17
Marc-Andre Bourdon I.L.Marc-Andre Bourdon practised with his Flyer teammates for the first time this season. Well, better late than never. Bourdon has been sidelined for all but 17 AHL games with a concussion. We do not see him as a fantsay asset in the foreseeable future. Apr 27
Chris Pronger I.L.Chris Pronger spoke about the struggles, which included depression, he's dealt with during his recover from an inadvertent stick to his right eye. Pronger hasn't played in 16 months, as the incident left him with vision loss and severe concussion symptoms. "You get headaches, you're not wanting to do anything, you sit around, you can't work out, you get depressed," said. "You try to work out and you get nauseous, a headache, you want to lay down. It's an awkward feeling, and it's something that when you haven't experienced it before you really don't understand what it is that these guys are talking about. I guess the biggest part is the depression and how you feel about yourself and how you feel about the injury. How dark you go down." Doctors are unsure if he'll ever regain his peripheral vision and he is still dealing with headaches -- even after a news conference -- when he has any physical activity. Mar 8
| G | 1 | Ilya Bryzgalov ActiveAccording to some reports, Philadelphia will buy out the remainder of Ilya Bryzgalov's contract, but that may not happen unless the Flyers have a trade in place to acquire another goaltender. The Flyers may trade someone, like Braydon Coburn or Andrej Meszaros, if they can't wipe out Bryzgalo's contract and reports indicate that Daniel Briere will be bought out. The team is believed to be interested in Los Angeles' Jonathan Bernier as an option between the pipes in what is shaping up to be an intriguing off-season in Philadelphia. Jun 18 |
Steve Mason ActiveSteve Mason is expected to compete for playing time with Ilya Bryzgalov next season if the two of them remain the fold together. There has been plenty of speculation about the future of Bryzgalov in Philadelphia, but some healthy competition and extra rest may benefit him next year and Mason can provide that. In seven appearances with the Flyers, Mason posted a 1.90 goals-against average and a .944 save percentage while earning four wins. He benefited from the change from Columbus to Philadelphia, but the jury is still out on him. Having him and Bryzgalov work off each other might be the best course of action for the Flyers heading into the 2013-14 campaign. May 2
