Although the Calgary Flames declined to provide Josh Jooris with a qualifying offer, he's leaving with positive feelings about the franchise.
"I definitely built amazing relationships in Calgary with the guys and within the organization," he said. "I was thankful for the opportunity they gave me and I learned a lot as a player. I was able to get my foot in the door and they granted me that opportunity. That was amazing. The two years I spent in Calgary were an unbelievable part of my career and part of my life." Although the Flames allowed him to become an unrestricted free agent by avoiding a qualifying offer, they still had some interest in re-signing him. However, the Flames needed to focus on other matters first and while Jooris waited to hear something more from them, he got an offer from the Rangers, which he agreed to. He'll spend the 2016-17 campaign on a one-year, two-way deal that will pay him $600,000 in the NHL or $350,000 in the minors with a guaranteed minimum total salary of $400,000. Jul 22 - 4:46 AM
