| Pos | Role | Name |
| C | 1 | John Tavares ActiveJohn Tavares is one of the better Team Canada players at the World Hockey Championships in Helsinki. This should not be a surprise as Tavares has had much international hockey success in his career to date. In six games for Canada this year, he has scored four goals and registered eight points, tops amongst the team's forwards. Tavares registered 81 points for the Islanders this past season and we wouldn't be at all surprised if he upped that to 85 or 90 in 2012-13. May 13 |
| 2 | Frans Nielsen ActiveFrans Nielsen scored two goals and added an assist in the Islanders 5-3 win over Pittsburgh Tuesday. Nielsen enjoyed a fantastic night as he also chipped in with three shots on goal and a plus-4 rating. Kyle Okposo also recorded a goal and an assist while David Ullstrom and Michael Grabner each scored in the victory. Joshua Bailey did his part by dishing out three assists. Mar 27 |
| 3 | Joshua Bailey ActiveJosh Bailey potted two goals and also registered three assists in the Islanders' 5-3 win over the Penguins Thursday night. Bailey was involved in every goal against the Penguins tonight and is the first member of the Islanders to get five points at home since Niklas Andersson did it on December 19th 1996. He had 26 points in 74 previous games this season. Bailey might live up to expectations a few seasons from now, but right now he has limited fantasy value in standard leagues. Mar 29 |
| 4 | Marty Reasoner ActiveMarty Reasoner will re-join the Islanders tonight after missing more than a month with a broken finger. Reasoner suffered the injury Jan. 6 and missed 17 games. The 34-year-old fourth-line center is looking his first goal of the season. He is 0-5-5 in 35 games. Feb 14 |
| LW | 1 | Matt Moulson ActiveMatt Moulson's good deeds have been recognized with a Foundation Award nomination. Moulson has also been nominated for the Lady Byng Trophy. He created the 326 Foundation with Jonathan Quick to help the Kings Care Foundation and Islanders Children's Foundation. Moulson gives $500 to the cause for every goal he scores, which resulted in him donating $18,000 for his 36 goals in 2011-12. Moulson also partnered with the Wounded Warrior Project. For every Islanders home game, a military veteran from WWP, along with one of their family members, was able to attend an Islanders' home game with VIP treatment that included going to the locker room after the game. Apr 30 |
| 2 | Michael Grabner ActiveMichael Grabner scored a goal and added an assist in a 7-3 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night. Michael Grabner, fresh off a 34 goal performance last season, ended the 2012 season with a multi point game. Grabner scored his 20th goal of the season to salvage a decent goal total from his mediocre season. Subsequently Grabner saw his point totals drop by 20 in just one year. Apr 7 |
| 3 | Jay Pandolfo ActiveThe New York Islanders have activated Jay Pandolfo off of the injured reserve list. Pandolfo has reportedly been healthy enough to return for several days now, but the Islanders didn't want to alter their lineup while they were winning. However, Marty Reasoner broke his hand on Friday, so they had to make an adjustment. Jan 7 |
| 4 | Nino Niederreiter ActiveAn ankle injury shelves Nino Niederreiter for Tuesday’s game against Team USA. The Swiss forward failed to score a point in six tournament games. May 15 |
| RW | 1 | P. A. Parenteau SidelinedContract talks with pending unrestricted free agent P. A. Parenteau should begin this week now that the regular season is over. "No one likes uncertainty," he said. "It's between Allan [Walsh, Parenteau's agent] and Garth [Snow, Isles general manager] and hopefully, they can figure out something that's good for both of us. I'm in a pretty good position right now and I want to keep what we're building here. It's going to be something special." Parenteau has repeatedly stated he would like to return to the Islanders and that stance hasn't changed. Apr 10 |
| 2 | Kyle Okposo ActiveNew York Islanders winger Kyle Okposo scored the lone tally in the team's 1-0 win against the New Jersey Devils. Okposo has 15 goals and 33 points in 63 games played this season. The big forward hasn't had the breakout that many were hoping for, but he's still just 23 years old so he still has a high ceiling. Mar 4 |
| 3 | Matt Martin ActiveMatt Martin leads the NHL with a whopping 349 credited hits this season. "To lead the league in anything is kind of a big accomplishment," Martin said. "I just try to play the same way every night, just finish all my checks when I can." The statistical category varies from arena to arena and it has been known to be inaccurate at times, but it gives Martin some additional fantasy value to go along with his 109 penalty minutes and 14 points. Mar 28 |
| D | 1 | Mark Streit ActiveMark Streit was the New York Islanders' lone goal scorer on Sunday as they lost to the Ottawa Senators 5-1. Streit's season has been a little disappointing, although he does have a respectable 45 points. His -25 rating shouldn't be too shocking, but it still limits his value when there are better options out there from a peripheral standpoint. Apr 1 |
| 2 | Andrew MacDonald ActiveAndrew MacDonald potted the only goal for the New York Islanders as they prevailed 2-1 in the shootout against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night. It was only MacDonald's second of the year, so he's not even worth monitoring in fantasy leagues. John Tavares, 25th point, and Matt Moulson, 24th point, each notched assists on the goal. Impressively, the lowly Isles greatly outplayed the NHL's best team, on the road, nearly doubling their shot total -- 37-21 -- as Frans Nielsen came up with the winner in the shootout. Dec 17 |
| 3 | Travis Hamonic ActiveTravis Hamonic returned to the New York Islanders' lineup Friday night with a full metal cage mask protecting his broken nose. "Unfortunately, I've had some experience with it," Hamonic said, referring to when he suffered a broken jaw as a junior player. "It doesn't bother me a bit." Hamonic was out nine games, during which time he underwent nose surgery. Feb 25 |
| 4 | Milan Jurcina ActiveMilan Jurcina logged 19:45 minutes in his return from a lacerated elbow on Thursday. Jurcina had four shots on goal, six blocked shots, and two hits in his return. He missed two games due to the ailment. Feb 10 |
| 5 | Mark Eaton ActiveMark Eaton played in his 600th game on Friday. Eaton made it a night to remember, scoring the game-winning goal in a 2-1 overtime win. It was his first goal since Nov. 28, 2009. Needless to say, Eaton isn't much of an offensive threat. Feb 4 |
| 6 | Steve Staios ActiveSteve Staios returned to the Islanders' lineup on Tuesday night from a lower-body injury. He missed one game with the ailment. Staios contributed an assist, two penalty minutes and one shot during his 14:35 of ice time in New York's 3-2 overtime loss to Washington. Feb 29 |
| 7 | Dylan Reese ActiveThe New York Islanders have activated Dylan Reese (knee) from their injured reserve list. He has skated in 16 NHL games this campaign, but hasn't played since Feb. 7 because of a sprained knee. Mar 1 |
| G | 1 | Evgeni Nabokov SidelinedEvgeni Nabokov (lower body) isn't ready to say that his season is over. "It's not only my decision, but if I can play, I will play," said Nabokov. "If I can be feeling better during this weekend, I think I can be ready." He missed about a month of playing time with a groin injury earlier this season and it believed that he is once again sidelined with a groin problem. The Islanders have already signed goaltender John Grahame to help out while Nabokov is sidelined. Mar 30 |
| 2 | Al Montoya ActiveAl Montoya allowed seven goals on 30 shots in a 7-3 loss to the New York Islanders on Saturday night. The former first round pick Al Montoya surrendered seven goals to the last placed team in the NHL. Despite allowing seven goals in the hockey game, the loss can not be blamed on goaltending. The Islanders as a team did not show up, leaving their goalie out to dry. Apr 7 |
| 3 | Rick DiPietro I.L.Rick DiPietro still has nine more seasons remaining on his 15-year, $67.5 million contract. There has been talk of amnesty buyouts being added to the collective bargaining agreement, but the Islanders can't depend on the prospect of something like that. Evgeni Nabokov will be back in the crease in 2012-13 and the club has Anders Nilsson or Kevin Poulin in the pipeline as well. DiPietro is slated to be the team's second-string netminder at best under those circumstances. If he isn't willing to accept the terms of a decreased role then the Islanders could face an interesting decision on what to do with the oft-injured goalie. Apr 8 |
| 4 | John Grahame ActiveUnconfirmed, but the Islanders may start John Grahame this afternoon against the Ottawa Senators. The Islanders are playing an April Fools joke on us right? This is a team in complete shambles, led by billionaire Charles Wang and the neophyte Garth Snow at the helm of this sinking ship. Grahame was a goaltending coach with Sioux City of the USHL this season. Apr 1 |
