Pos | Role | Name |
C | 1 | Sean Couturier ActiveSean Couturier was the star of the game for Philadelphia Friday night even if he is not fully recovered from a knee injury. Couturier scored the winning goal in Game 5 with only 1:15 left in regulation to stave off elimination and keep the Flyers' season alive. He also spearheaded the Philly penalty kill that was a perfect five-for-five on the night. Of Couturier, Flyer captain Claude Giroux had the following to say: "I’ve got a lot of respect for that guy. He’s one of our leaders, and you can put him in any situation … and it’s impressive." Although he is still dealing with some knee pain, Couturier should continue to produce no matter where he appears in the lineup. Apr 21 |
| 2 | Nolan Patrick ActiveNolan Patrick will center Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek on Wednesday night. Patrick is centering the top line because Sean Couturier is unavailable for this game. The 19-year-old has one goal and one assist in three games during the postseason. This is a great opportunity for the rookie. Apr 18 |
| 3 | Valtteri Filppula ActiveLook for Valtteri Filppula to remain on the Flyers' top line between Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek. All Filppula did in this role Friday night wa score a goal and regster two assists pacing the Flyers to a 4-2 win to stave off elimination. The Flyers' other lines in the win were as follows: Nolan Patrick between Michael Raffl and Travis Konecny, Sean Couturier between Scott Laughton and Wayne Simmonds and Jori Lehtera between Matt Read and Dale Weise. Flyer coach Dave Hakstol's tinkering resulted in a victory so we would expect that the Philly lineup will look the same come Game 6 Sunday. Apr 21 |
| 4 | Jori Lehtera ActiveJori Lehtera will be a healthy scratch in Saturday's game against Carolina. The Flyers will be making a small change swapping Lehtera with Jordan Weal and will have Alex Lyon in goal to start the game. Taylor Leier and Dale Weise are also expected to be scratched. Mar 17 |
LW | 1 | Claude Giroux ActiveClaude Giroux opened the scoring in Game 5 on Friday night against Pittsburgh for his first goal of the series. The 102-point scorer during the regular season had been nearly shut down offensively in the first four contests of the series, posting just one assist with a dismal minus-7 rating. He was paired with Valtteri Filppula and Jakub Voracek on the top line, as Sean Couturier was moved out, and the newly-formed trio accounted for two goals and five points to force a Game 6 back in Philadelphia. Apr 20 |
| 2 | Travis Konecny ActiveTravis Konecny moved up to the second line at Tuesday's practice. Konecny skated alongside Nolan Patrick and Wayne Simmonds in the session. He has one goal in three games during Philadelphia's first-round series against Pittsburgh. Oskar Lindblom had been playing on the second unit, but he was the odd man out during the session. Apr 17 |
| 3 | Oskar Lindblom ActiveOskar Lindblom will be a healthy scratch in Game 5 against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Lindblom is coming out of the lineup for Dale Weise. The 21-year-old has no goals or points in four games during the postseason. Travis Sanheim, Taylor Leier, Johnny Oduya and Petr Mrazek will also watch the game from the press box. Apr 20 |
| 4 | Scott Laughton ActiveScott Laughton will be a healthy scratch in Tuesday's game against the Islanders. This is the first game Laughton will miss all season. He's gone 20 games without scoring a goal, so it's not shocking to see him come out of the lineup. Robert Hagg, Taylor Leier, Dale Weise and Johnny Oduya will also serve as healthy scratches on Tuesday. Apr 3 |
| 5 | Jordan Weal ActiveJordan Weal could be back in the lineup for Game 4 on Wednesday night. Weal skated alongside Valtteri Filppula and Michael Raff at Tuesday's practice. He was a healthy scratch for the first three games of the series. Weal accounted for two goals and two assists in three games versus Pittsburgh during the regular season. Apr 17 |
| 6 | Taylor Leier ActiveThe Flyers are projected to scratch Taylor Leier on Thursday. It would be Leier's fifth consecutive game in the press box. He has a goal and five points in 39 contests in 2017-18. Mar 15 |
RW | 1 | Jakub Voracek ActiveJakub Voracek was back on the top line during Tuesday's practice. Voracek skated alongside Claude Giroux and Sean Couturier. Couturier's injury during the session may result in some additional changes prior to Game 4 on Wednesday night, but the reunion of Voracek and Giroux seems like it could be a possibility. Apr 17 |
| 2 | Wayne Simmonds ActiveWayne Simmonds has been dropped to the second power play. He was replaced on the top unit by rookie Nolan Patrick. "I wasn’t playing well and I’ve got to do better," Simmonds said on Thursday. "I’ve got to be a better player. Patty’s done a great job in front of the net when he’s been in front of the net this year so he got two huge goals and got us back into the game. I feel no way about it. The kid’s a great player and he deserves everything he’s getting." Simmonds will play alongside Travis Konecny and Oskar Lindblom with Ivan Provorov and Travis Sanheim on the points as the Flyers meet Pittsburgh in the battle of Pennsylvania in the first round of the playoffs. Apr 8 |
| 3 | Michael Raffl ActiveMichael Raffl (upper body) is healthy again and could be back in the lineup on Tuesday night. Raffl has been sidelined since Mar. 18 due to an upper-body injury. He skated at Monday's practice and appears as though he is ready to play. Apr 2 |
| 4 | Matt Read ActiveMatt Read posted a goal on three shots, while adding a blocked shot and two hits in Game 5 in Pittsburgh on Friday night. Read sealed Philadelphia's victory with an empty-net marker. The Ontario native was mostly a non-factor through the first four games of the series, going scoreless with one shot on goal with four penalty minutes. Game 6 is set for Sunday back in Philadelphia. Apr 20 |
| 5 | Dale Weise ActiveDale Weise will suit up in Game 5 against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday night. The 29-year-old hasn't played in a game since April 1st. He had four goals and four assists in 46 games during the regular season. Weise will skate on the fourth line with Matt Read and Jori Lehtera. He has no fantasy value. Apr 20 |
D | 1 | Shayne Gostisbehere ActiveShayne Gostisbehere posted an assist in Wednesday's 2-1 win at Colorado, giving him 60 points in 2017-18. Gostisbehere is one of just four Philadelphia rearguards in franchise history to record 60 or more points in a single season. Garry Galley did it twice, Behn Wilson did it once, and Mark Howe accomplished the feat three times. Mar 29 |
| 2 | Ivan Provorov SidelinedPhiladelphia did not provide an update on the status of Ivan Provorov, which is a little concerning. Provorov went hard into the boards on Friday night just before Sean Couturier's goal and may have hurt his shoulder. He was back on the ice for his next shift for a few seconds before he left following Michal Neuvirth's glove save on Sidney Crosby. An update on Provorov may not come until close to puck drop on Sunday afternoon. He would be a big loss for the Flyers if he is unable to play in Game 6. Apr 21 |
| 3 | Andrew MacDonald ActiveAndrew MacDonald has reached the 20-point milestone. MacDonald got there by registering an assist in the Flyers' 2-1 win on Wednesday. He's not an offensive defenseman, but this is the third time in his career that he's reached the 20-point mark. In 2016-17, he finished just shy of the milestone with 18 points in 73 games. Mar 29 |
| 4 | Radko Gudas ActiveRadko Gudas was scoreless with a plus-1 rating in Game 5 against the Penguins on Friday night. Gudas took some heat from the Philly faithful for injuring Sean Couturier in practice, causing the forward to miss Game 4. Flyers fans were glad to see Gudas hitting players on the Penguins, though. In fact, he dished out a game-high seven hits while posting a blocked shot and racking up seven PIMs. Apr 20 |
| 5 | Brandon Manning ActiveBrandon Manning will be a healthy scratch in Tuesday's game against the Detroit Red Wings. Manning has now been scratched in back-to-back games. He has six goals and 16 points in 57 games this season. Taylor Leier and Dale Weise will also watch the game from the press box on Tuesday night. Mar 20 |
| 6 | Travis Sanheim ActiveTravis Sanheim will probably be a healthy scratch in Game 5 on Friday. Sanheim is being removed from the lineup to make room for Robert Hagg. Hagg brings more to the table physically while Sanheim has been somewhat quiet in this series with a goal and no assists in four games. Sanheim was averaging a modest 15:30 minutes in the first round. Apr 20 |
| 7 | Robert Hagg ActiveRobert Hagg is projected to be put in the lineup for Game 5 Friday night. It would be Hagg's first career playoff game. The 23-year-old defenseman is a major physical presence and that should help the Flyers as they fight to keep their campaign alive. Travis Sanheim is projected to be a healthy scratch to make room in the lineup. Apr 20 |
| 8 | Johnny Oduya ActiveJohnny Oduya will be among Philadelphia's healthy scratches again on Sunday afternoon for Game 3 versus Pittsburgh. The Flyers will ice the lineup, in terms of personnel, that they had in Friday's 5-1 victory over the Penguins. That will put Robert Hagg, Taylor Leier, Jordan Weal and Dale Weise in the press box. Apr 15 |
G | 1 | Brian Elliott ActiveIt looks like the Flyers will stick with Brian Elliott in Game 5 on Friday. Elliott was pulled from Game 4 after allowing three goals on 17 shots en route to a 5-0 loss. This has been a rough series for him as he has a 4.75 GAA and .856 save percentage in four starts. He's far from the only Flyers player that's left something to be desired though. Apr 20 |
| 2 | Petr Mrazek ActivePetr Mrazek allowed five goals on 37 shots in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the New York Islanders. The Flyers were down 4-1 in the third period, but they managed to tie the game thanks to two goals by Nolan Patrick and another by Claude Giroux. But Mathew Barzal scored the game-winner for the Islanders later on in the final frame. Mrazek now has a 14-13-6 record with a 3.03 goals-against-average and a .902 save percentage this season. The Flyers netminder has dropped three of his last four games (1-1-2). Philadelphia failed to clinch a playoff spot tonight. Apr 3 |
| 3 | Dustin Tokarski ActiveDustin Tokarski has been recalled by Philadelphia. Tokarski is presumably up with the Flyers to serve as the team's third goaltender in the playoffs. That will allow Alex Lyon and Anthony Stolarz to stay in the AHL for Lehigh Valley's postseason run. Apr 11 |
| 4 | Michal Neuvirth ActiveMichal Neuvirth was back on the ice Saturday morning. Neuvirth felt good after Friday's 4-2 win over Pittsburgh in Game 5 in his first start since his return from a lower-body injury. "I think I'm close (to 100 percent). The wraparound goal, gotta be better on that," said Neuvirth. "That's why I went on the ice. Tried to fix those little things." He should be back in goal for the Flyers on Sunday for Game 6. Apr 21 |
