Dustin Pedroia went 3-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored Tuesday in Boston's 9-2 rout of Minnesota.
Pedroia has collected multiple hits in eight of his last 14 games, taking his average to .299. The power has been absent this year, limiting his fantasy value, but it might come back some if he could get somewhere close to 100 percent physically for any length of time. Jun 28 - 12:57 AM

Red Sox manager John Farrell said he wouldn't consider starting Mookie Betts at second base.

The question came up because Dustin Pedroia is out with a wrist injury, though he's expected to be back after a minimum DL stint. Betts came up through the minors as a second baseman and spent some time there as a rookie in 2014, but that was ages ago. Mookie is a full-time outfielder now, and a pretty good one at that. Josh Rutledge has been filling in at second base for the Red Sox.

Mookie Betts is out of the Red Sox starting lineup on Thursday night against the Yankees.

Dustin Pedroia, Hanley Ramirez, and Sandy Leon are also receiving a day of rest after the Red Sox clinched the American League East title on Wednesday night with the Blue Jays' loss to the Orioles. David Ortiz is starting at DH in what will be his final game at Yankee Stadium.

Red Sox GM Mike Hazen said the team has no immediate plans to move Yoan Moncada to a new position.

Moncada has spent his entire minor league career at second base but that will obviously have to change if the Red Sox plan on calling him up in the near future. Dustin Pedroia is still one of the game's best second basemen and is under contract through 2021. The 21-year-old has hit .311 with nine homers, 50 RBI and 43 steals across two minor league levels this year. Moncada came in at No. 5 in MLB.com's latest prospect rankings and could be in line for a September call-up.
