Juan Pierre went 2-for-3 with a double and his sixth stolen base in Wednesday's win over the Cubs.
The two-hit night was Pierre's sixth in 14 May games, and leaves him with a highly surprising .340/.387/.379 triple slash through his first 112 plate appearances. He'll need to start stealing bases with greater frequency to hold his 10-12 team mixed-league value, however. May 16 - 11:34 PM

Hunter Pence will undergo an MRI on his left shoulder Tuesday.

Pence didn't play Monday after injuring his shoulder when he dove for a ball during Sunday's game. The Phillies are calling him day-to-day for now and the MRI appears to be precautionary, but we should learn something more definitive on his status soon. Juan Pierre and John Mayberry, Jr. figure to start regularly in the corner outfield spots for now.

John Mayberry is not in the Phillies' lineup Sunday for the sixth time in the last eight games.

Juan Pierre has basically turned into the Phillies' everyday left fielder, while Mayberry has been relegated to occasional time in left and at first base. The 28-year-old has struggled out of the gate with a .179/.179/.205 batting line following a mini-breakout last season. He should be on fantasy benches until further notice.

Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports that the Mets are "diligently monitoring" the market for left-handed hitting outfielders.

Crasnick names Rick Ankiel, Johnny Damon, Kosuke Fukudome, Raul Ibanez and Juan Pierre in his report, although it's not clear if they are actually talking to those specific players. For what it's worth, the Mets have at least been linked to Ankiel in the past. There's a surplus among free agent hitters right now, so with spring training rapidly approaching, there's a good chance the Mets will get someone at a bargain rate.

White Sox general manager Ken Williams indicated Monday that Dayan Viciedo could soon be called up from the minors.

"It would be awfully interesting to have him in this lineup," said Williams. "He's ready. He's obviously got some things he still needs to work on, but I would have no qualms about bringing him here. I'm not going to bring him here to sit. [White Sox manager] Ozzie [Guillen] is not ready to change the mix he has right now, and that has to be respected." Viciedo is hitting .313 with 10 homers and an .877 OPS over his first 61 games with Triple-A Charlotte this season. It's not clear when he'll get the call from the minors, but Juan Pierre figures to lose some playing time once he does.
