Jose Abreu went 3-for-4 with an RBI in a loss to the Yankees on Wednesday.
Two of the hits were doubles, including one in the fourth inning that plated Tim Anderson with the White Sox' only run of the lopsided contest. This was a badly-needed good game for the struggling clean-up hitter. The three hits got him back to the Mendoza line. He is batting .200/.241/.255 with zero home runs and six RBI in 58 plate appearances in the season's early days. Apr 19 - 11:14 PM

Todd Frazier (flu) remains sidelined for Tuesday's game against the Yankees.

It will be his third straight game out of the lineup, as he just can't seem to shake the flu. Yolmer Sanchez will start at third base Tuesday while Matt Davidson plays first base. Jose Abreu will serve as the DH.

According to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, the White Sox have received "due diligence" calls on Todd Frazier.

Teams have put out feelers for Frazier but teammate Jose Abreu seems to be drawing more interest. Cafardo speculates that Frazier's impending free agency (he'll hit the market after next season) could be holding teams back from pursuing him. Frazier enjoyed a career year in 2016, slugging 40 homers and 98 RBI to go with 15 stolen bases.

A rival executive told MLB Network's Jon Morosi that the White Sox are more likely to trade Adam Eaton than Jose Abreu at the winter meetings.

The White Sox seem to be in the mode of listening to trade offers for virtually anyone on their roster, but it's not surprising that Eaton appears likelier than Abreu to be dealt. The outfielder should be able to fetch a nice return, as he's a career .284/.357/.414 hitter and is under team control for just $38.4 million through 2021.

Free agent outfielder Yoenis Cespedes and White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu are among various MLB figures on a U.S. witness list for an upcoming trial regarding the smuggling of baseball players from Cuba.

Neither player is accused of any wrongdoing. South Florida sports agents Bartolo Hernandez and Julio Estrada have pleaded not guilty on charges of conspiracy and bringing immigrants into the United States illegally. It's alleged that baseball players have paid the smuggling ring more than $15 million to get them out of Cuba. The trial is set for January 3.

Frazier missed the last two days with the flu but is apparently feeling better. He's at first base, as Jose Abreu is getting a day off.
