The Knicks are unlikely to trade for Jimmy Butler.
"We’re committed to not missing any steps," Knicks President Steve Mills said. "We’re going to take this as a step-by-step process. We’re going to continue along with our plan." Butler named the Knicks, Nets and Clippers as his preferred destinations (Clippers are at the top of his list), but the Knicks have learned from their mistakes in the past and won't give up assets when they can pursue high-profile free agents as soon as 2019. The Clippers are "emerging as a front-runner" to sign Kawhi Leonard in free agency next summer, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

Leonard hasn't even had an official practice with the Raptors and he's already rumored to be headed elsewhere, but a lot can happen before next July. The Clippers are reportedly a favored landing spot for Butler, who may be hoping to join Kawhi or another max free agent -- the Clippers can accommodate two max salaries. For now, fantasy owners should focus on Kawhi's health and willingness to compete for the Raptors in 2018-19.

Karl-Anthony Towns won't sign his rookie extension until the Jimmy Butler situation is resolved.

KAT and the Wolves have until the end of October to agree to a contract extension, otherwise KAT will be a restricted free agent come July. Obviously, he is incredibly important to the future of the Wolves franchise, considering he just made third team All-NBA at 22 years old. The Wolves would match any deal if KAT signed an offer sheet next summer, but if they don't resolve the Jimmy Butler situation to his liking, will he sign the qualifying offer instead? Lots of moving parts here as training camp is set to begin.

Nemanja Bjelica had another rough night on Sunday, playing 26 minutes to finish with seven points on 2-of-7 shooting, five rebounds, two steals and one assist.

Bjelica added one 3-pointer with 2-of-2 free throws, so it could have been worse, but fantasy owners should have moved on by now. He's scored double-digit points just three times in the past nine games, and with Jimmy Butler (knee) nearing a return the clock is ticking for his starting job.

Aaron Brooks (illness) is expected to be available on Thursday vs. Milwaukee.

Even with Jeff Teague (knee) out, Brooks isn't guaranteed to play. Look for Tyus Jones, Jamal Crawford, and even Jimmy Butler to spend time handling the rock.

Jeff Teague (Achilles) and Nemanja Bjelica (foot) will go through their pregame routines before a decision is made on their playing status for Tuesday's game against the Wizards.

Knowing Tom Thibodeau, we likely won't have official word on either of these guys until just prior to tip-off, but if Teague is forced to the sidelines, that would grant Tyus Jones another opportunity to start and Jimmy Butler would see some increased playmaking opportunities. Bjelica's absence would open up some minutes for Gorgui Dieng and Shabazz Muhammad, but they wouldn't play enough to make a meaningful impact in most leagues.

Jeff Teague (Achilles) and Nemanja Bjelica (foot) are being listed as game-time decisions in the game notes for Tuesday's matchup with the Wizards.

First things first, this report is stemming from the game notes which are notoriously unreliable, and even worse coming from a reporter from a Wizards' reporter, so we wouldn't read too much into the game-time designation. Owners can expect to get another update following Tuesday morning's shootaround, but if Teague does indeed need to spend one more game on the sidelines, Tyus Jones would essentially be a must-play guy in DFS and Jimmy Butler would run the offense more.

Tyus Jones will move into the starting lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Suns, with Jeff Teague (Achilles) unavailable.

Jones looked great in 30 minutes off the bench on Friday night sans Teague, putting up eight points, six rebounds, six assists, four steals, two triples and three turnovers, so he'll be a popular DFS play today in his first career start. Jimmy Butler, Andrew Wiggins, Taj Gibson and Karl-Anthony Towns will join Jones in the starting five today, and Butler should see some increased playmaking opportunities with Teague watching from the sidelines.

Jeff Teague hit 7-of-18 shots and a 3-pointer for 18 points, two rebounds, two assists, three steals and three blocks in Monday's 118-102 loss to Charlotte.

The steals and blocks were outstanding and Teague's having a fine season for the Wolves. In fact, he's stealing some of Jimmy Butler's thunder, as Butler had just 14 points, seven boards, a steal and a 3-pointer tonight.

Shabazz Muhammad made another fill-in start on Wednesday but had just four points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal in 29 minutes.

Minnesota was destroyed in transition on Tuesday and the Pistons did it again tonight, outscoring the Wolves 24-0 on fastbreak points. Muhammad scored 14 points in his first start but he went just 1-of-9 from the field tonight, and he's nothing more than a DFS punt play if Butler misses more games.
