Karl-Anthony Towns scored 31 points (11-of-15 FG, 8-of-12 FT) with 11 rebounds, four assists and one 3-pointer in 34 minutes Monday against the Warriors.
After starting off slowly this season Towns has been much-improved since Jimmy Butler was traded to Philadelphia, averaging 22.5 points, 12.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.9 steals in 33.8 minutes per game (not counting Monday's numbers). And during that stretch, the forward/center shot 51.2% from the field and 41.1% from three (on 4.3 attempts per game). Dec 11 - 1:48 AM

Andrew Wiggins (quad) and Jeff Teague (ankle) will be in the starting lineup for Monday's matchup with the Nets.

That "quad" issue that forced Wiggins to the sidelines on Friday is looking mighty suspect, as Wiggins had previously logged heavy minutes in five straight games prior to missing that one. Jimmy Butler was traded the next day, so one has to wonder if Wiggins' name was brought up in potential deals. Either way, he'll return to the floor tonight and should see his regular minutes, so owners can feel free to get him active. The Wolves will go with a starting five featuring Teague, Derrick Rose, Wiggins, Taj Gibson and Karl-Anthony Towns.

Andrew Wiggins (right quad) is being listed as questionable for Monday's matchup with the Nets.

This is the same quad issue that forced Wiggins to sit out three straight games towards the end of October, and it's disappointing that it's re-emerged after he was able to log heavy minutes in five straight games. We'll have a better idea on Wiggins' status following shootaround, but if he's forced to join Jeff Teague (knee) on the sidelines, Derrick Rose and Karl-Anthony Towns will be very busy on offense. Josh Okogie would get the start.
Nov 11 - 4:28 PM

Jimmy Butler (general soreness) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Jazz.

The Wolves aren't even playing in a back-to-back set, so it's curious to see Butler hit the sidelines for a tough matchup against Utah. Jeff Teague (knee) will also be out and Andrew Wiggins (quad) is questionable, so Karl-Anthony Towns could be huge tonight while Derrick Rose figures to see an uptick in usage. The Wolves take on the Warriors on Friday, and for now, we'll be considering Butler closer to probable for that one.
Oct 31 - 12:11 PM

Gorgui Dieng played well in 24 minutes off the Wolves' bench on Wednesday with 12 points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block.

For perspective, Dieng played 24+ minutes just five times during the entire 2017-18 regular season. Karl-Anthony Towns was bogged down with foul trouble tonight, though, so there's no reason to think this will become a trend. Hopefully Dieng's deep-league owners had him active for this unusually productive season opener.

Jimmy Butler has formally requested to be traded away from Minnesota.

Wow. Butler presented Minnesota management with a list of 1-3 teams that he'd be interested in signing a contract extension with, and one of those teams is assuredly the Lakers. The Wolves will likely want to get rid of Butler prior to camp, so things could move somewhat quickly here, as his value will decline throughout the year. With Butler set to leave Minnesota, Luol Deng could potentially open the year as a starter and both Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns should see a nice uptick in usage. Jeff Teague should also spend more time running the offense sans Jimmy. Butler will be an elite asset wherever he winds up, but he does have a history of having trouble staying on the court.

Terry Rozier and the Celtics have until October 15, the day before the start of the regular season, to agree to a contract extension.

Rozier, who gave the Celtics a needed boost during the team's run to the Eastern Conference Finals, will be a restricted free agent next summer if the two sides can't agree to a deal. He's one of many players heading into the final guaranteed season of their rookie deals, a list that includes the likes of Karl-Anthony Towns, Kristaps Porzingis, Myles Turner and Bobby Portis. Rozier's coming off of his best season as a pro, having averaged 11.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game, but the question now is how his production will be impacted by Kyrie Irving's return.

Wolves coach Tom Thibodeau wants to add wing players and 3-point shooters during the offseason.

"We do have to take more [three-pointers], and that's something we're going to work on," Thibodeau said. Minnesota ranked dead last in 3-point attempts during both the regular season and the playoffs, so this isn't exactly shocking. Karl-Anthony Towns was actually their most accurate shooter from the perimeter, at 42.1%, and Nemanja Bjelica was the only other player above 37.0%. Bjelica is a restricted free agent, while Jamal Crawford has a $4.5 million player option, and if both guys leave the Wolves will be even more desperate for shooters.
Apr 30 - 2:29 PM

Tom Thibodeau said on Tuesday that Jimmy Butler (right knee) has been "moving along pretty well" in his rehab from meniscus surgery.

While Butler still isn't jumping, he has progressed to running on an anti-gravity treadmill, which is a small step in the right direction. He's currently about mid-way through Week-2 of his rough 4-6 week timetable, and if all goes well, he could potentially make it back to the court for Minnesota's home game against Memphis on March 26. Nemanja Bjelica will continue to hold down the fort in his absence, with Karl-Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins and Jeff Teague doing more on offense.
Mar 14 - 11:06 AM

Jimmy Butler (knee) is doubtful to play Wednesday vs. Portland.

It looks like Butler will be spending his third straight game on the sidelines tonight, which will result in Nemanja Bjelica earning another start with Andrew Wiggins, Jeff Teague and Karl-Anthony Towns being asked to step it up on the offensive end. Wednesday will be the first game of a back-to-back set, so with no practice time in between Wednesday and Thursday's games, it wouldn't be surprising to see Butler miss both of these.
