Delon Wright made 6-of-10 FGs and 4-of-4 FTs to score 18 points on Wednesday, adding five rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block in 26 minutes.
Wright connected on both of his 3-point attempts and he was truly a game-changer tonight, playing his best during the Raptors' fourth-quarter surge. Fred VanVleet (shoulder) was out again and his optimism hasn't translated to minutes in the first round, with coach Dwane Casey citing concerns from the Raptors' training staff. The Raptors badly miss VanVleet's leadership with the second unit, but Wright has done his best to pick up the slack and he's routinely hitting value in playoff DFS leagues. Apr 25 - 10:03 PM

Coach Dwane Casey said that Fred VanVleet (shoulder) is questionable for Game 6 Friday vs. Washington.

VanVleet has missed each of the last three games, and has logged a total of only three minutes this entire series. VanVleet said the plan is to go through shootaround with the team and re-assess the situation afterward. We should have an update on his status later in the day. If he is ruled out, Delon Wright will again see extended minutes off the Raptors bench.
Apr 27 - 10:10 AM

Coach Dwane Casey said that Fred VanVleet (shoulder) was able to practice on Tuesday and is day-to-day.

VanVleet is officially listed as doubtful on the injury report, meaning it's unlikely he will be cleared to play. We should have another update on his status after Wednesday morning's shootaround. If FVV is ruled out for Game 5, Delon Wright would again be asked to handle significant minutes. Wright is averaging 10.5 points, 3.3 assists and 2.0 steals in 24.6 minutes over the first four games of this series.
Apr 24 - 1:48 PM

Fred VanVleet (shoulder) has been ruled out for Sunday's Game 4 against the Wizards.

This will be VanVleet's second straight game on the sidelines, which will again translate to more minutes for Delon Wright. FVV said that the pain in his shoulder is "manageable," but the main issue is a "lack of range and strength," and he's having trouble "passing, dribbling, running, fighting through screens." For now, we'll consider him doubtful for Wednesday's Game 5 in Toronto.
Apr 22 - 4:47 PM

Fred VanVleet (shoulder) has been downgraded to doubtful for Tuesday's Game 2 vs. the Wizards.

VanVleet was initially listed as questionable, and it was reported earlier today that he had participated in shootaround and would be a game-time decision for Game 2. While FVV is making progress, the Raps want to make sure he's as close to 100 percent as possible before bringing him back. Delon Wright was excellent off the bench in Game 1, finishing with 18 points, four assists and three steals in 25 minutes. Wright will likely see 20-plus minutes again in Game 2 if VanVleet is ruled out.
Apr 17 - 12:45 PM

Fred VanVleet (shoulder) was able to participate in shootaround and will be a game-time decision for Tuesday's matchup with Washington.

VanVleet was unable to play in Game 1 on Saturday, but coach Dwane Casey said he was feeling better on Sunday and he was able to get through "most" of Monday's practice. The bench has been a major strength for Toronto all season. Delon Wright played wonderfully (18 points, four assists, three steals in 25 minutes) in Game 1. He will split minutes with FVV in the backcourt once VanVleet is cleared to return.
Apr 17 - 11:04 AM

Fred VanVleet (lower back tightness) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game vs. Miami.

Steady Freddy tweaked his back Sunday vs. Orlando and was then ruled out of Monday's game vs. the Spurs. Wednesday's season finale is essentially meaningless, so expect the Raps to hold out VanVleet unless he is close to 100 percent. If he does not play, Delon Wright will serve as Kyle Lowry's primary backup.

Apr 10 - 5:12 PM

Malcolm Miller will be in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Magic.

DeMar DeRozan (rest) is taking the night off, so Miller will get the start tonight and there will be more minutes for guys like Delon Wright and C.J Miles. Joining Miller in the starting five will be Kyle Lowry, OG Anunoby, Serge Ibaka and Jonas Valanciunas. Lowry looks like a very attractive DFS target tonight. Miller hasn't done much of anything in his previous starts this season, so he's not worth deploying in most settings.
Mar 20 - 7:00 PM

Fred VanVleet (right hand contusion) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Magic.

This will be VanVleet's second straight game on the shelf, and with DeMar DeRozan (thigh) also unavailable, Delon Wright and C.J. Miles should see a decent uptick in minutes. VanVleet is being listed as day-to-day with the minor hand injury, so maybe he'll be able to get back out there for Wednesday's game in Cleveland.
Mar 20 - 5:46 PM

Fred VanVleet (right hand contusion) is listed as questionable for Tuesday's game vs. Orlando.

VanVleet did not play Sunday vs. OKC, but the Raptors have downplayed the seriousness of the injury. However, the Raps play a back-to-back on Tuesday and Wednesday, so they may hold him out for the front end. We should have an update after shootaround. If VanVleet is ruled out, Delon Wright will soak up additional minutes.

Mar 20 - 9:12 AM

Fred VanVleet (hand bruise) is being listed as day-to-day.

VanVleet's injury doesn't seem serious at all, but the Raptors will be cautious with him considering the depth they already have at the point guard spot. Toronto has a Tuesday-Wednesday, back-to-back set coming up, so it wouldn't be all that surprising to see him miss at least one of those games. Delon Wright will be the primary beneficiary while he's out.
Mar 18 - 5:25 PM

Norman Powell scored 17 points as a starter on Wednesday, making 7-of-12 field goals with three 3-pointers, four rebounds and one block in 28 minutes.

Delon Wright (sprained toe) and OG Anunoby (ankle) were both out of commission tonight, and Powell took advantage to score more points than he had in the previous nine games combined. Anunoby (ankle) didn't travel with the team for this road game and his return date is unclear, which sets the stage for more potential starts from Powell. Still, most owners should wait to see him reproduce this line before cutting anyone of value for him.
Mar 7 - 11:55 PM

Fred VanVleet (personal) did not attend shootaround and is unlikely to be available Tuesday vs. Minnesota.

VanVleet is with his family following the birth of his daughter last Sunday night. He is coming off a career-high 25-point game in Sunday's win over the Lakers, just hours before his daughter was born. If VanVleet is unable to play Tuesday, Delon Wright would see an uptick in minutes off the bench. Norman Powell might see some playing time as well.
Jan 30 - 11:02 AM

Fred VanVleet does not have any structural damage in his injured knee and is considered day-to-day.

VanVleet injured his right knee on a layup attempt in Monday's game vs. the Sixers. He limped off the floor and was unable to return to the contest. Fortunately, VanVleet said he was feeling better on Tuesday. We'll still consider him questionable for Wednesday's game vs. Detroit. If VanVleet is unable to play, Delon Wright would soak up additional minutes off the Raptors bench.
Jan 16 - 1:20 PM

Fred VanVleet was solid in 21 minutes off the bench on Saturday with 13 points, five rebounds, four assists, three 3-pointers and one steal.

Kyle Lowry was out again with a bruised tailbone but he's day-to-day and could return as soon as Monday vs. the 76ers. VanVleet was instrumental in the Raptors' second-half run tonight, and this comes on the heels of Thursday's 22-point outburst, so maybe he'll earn more minutes regardless. Most owners should take a wait-and-see approach.
Jan 13 - 11:19 PM

Kyle Lowry (tailbone) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Warriors.

Lowry was doubtful heading into this one, so it's not surprising to see him unavailable. Delon Wright and Fred VanVleet will be splitting the point guard minutes in his absence, while DeMar DeRozan will run the show on offense. The Raptors take on the 76ers in Philly on Monday, and for now, we'll be considering Lowry questionable for that one.
Jan 13 - 5:54 PM

Kyle Lowry (bruised tailbone) is listed as questionable on Saturday, but coach Dwane Casey said that Lowry is "closer to doubtful."

According to Raptors beat reporter Josh Lewenberg, Lowry is "not expected to play." If Lowry is ruled out, Delon Wright and Fred VanVleet will split minutes at point guard. Wright started in place of Lowry on Thursday and finished with six points, four assists, two rebounds and two blocks in 18 minutes. Fred VanVleet scored a career-high 22 points and added four rebounds, four assists and one steal in 24 minutes off the bench.
Jan 13 - 11:44 AM

Coach Dwane Casey said Kyle Lowry (bruised tailbone) will be a game-time decision for Saturday's game vs. Golden State.

Casey said that Lowry has been doing some light shooting, but is still sore. Raptors beat reporter Josh Lewenberg is skeptical that Lowry will be cleared to return, tweeting "don't bet on [Lowry] playing." The Raptors game tips off at 7:30 pm EST on Saturday, so we should have definitive word by approximately 6:00 pm, when Casey addresses the media pregame. If Lowry is unable to play, Delon Wright and Fred VanVleet would divvy up minutes at point guard.
Jan 12 - 12:47 PM

Kyle Lowry (bruised tailbone) has been ruled out for Thursday's game vs. the Cavs.

No surprise here, since Lowry was considered doubtful. He might also sit out Saturday's game, which would make Saturday's road game in Philly his next possible return date. Delon Wright should earn another start with Fred VanVleet picking up minutes with the second unit.

RotoGrinders.com Daily Slant: DeMar DeRozan leads the Raptors in usage at a massive 44.5% to go along with an elite 1.61 FPPM with Lowry/Ibaka off the floor. Jonas Valanciunas has logged only 20.3 minutes in that split, but he's averaging a healthy 1.10 FPPM with Delon Wright checking in at 0.91 and Fred VanVleet checking in at 0.87. DeRozan is an elite target in all formats while Wright is the preferred value target between he and VanVleet.
Jan 11 - 6:20 PM

Kyle Lowry (bruised tailbone) is listed as questionable in the game notes for Thursday's matchup with the Cavs.

This is merely a game-notes designation, so we won't put too much stock into it. We should get a reliable update on Thursday morning after the team's shootaround. If Lowry is sidelined, Delon Wright would likely draw another start at point guard, with Fred VanVleet backing him up off the bench.

Jan 10 - 3:01 PM

Kyle Lowry has been diagnosed with a bruised tailbone and back spasms and has been ruled out of Tuesday's game vs. Miami.

Today's update, including the fact that Lowry's X-rays came back negative, certainly qualifies as good news. When Lowry crashed to the floor on Monday night, and then crumbled back down to the court as he tried to get up, before being carried back to the locker room, it seemed as though he might be dealing with a serious injury. However, Lowry is considered day-to-day and could be back in the lineup by the end of this week. Fred VanVleet and Delon Wright are expected to divvy up Lowry's minutes on Tuesday.
