Marc Stein of the New York Times reported that "some expect" Ben Simmons to go "all righty" next season.
Simmons shoots predominately with his right hand when he gets close to the basket, and is efficient around the rim. However, he shoots his jumpers and free throws lefty. Last season, he didn't make a single 3-pointer (0-for-11) and hit just 56.0 percent of his free-throws. There has been speculation that he would benefit by switching hands. It is something to keep an eye on during training camp and the preseason. Aug 17 - 12:30 PM

T.J. McConnell will replace Robert Covington in the starting lineup for Monday's Game 4 in Boston.

The 76ers have dropped three in a row, so Brett Brown will tweak his starting five in hopes of avoiding a sweep. Joining McConnell in the starting group will be Ben Simmons, J.J. Redick, Dario Saric and Joel Embiid. Covington played very poorly in Games 1 and 2, so he might be on a short leash tonight with Philly's season on the line.
May 7 - 5:49 PM

Joel Embiid's 31-point performance wasn't enough in Monday's 117-101 Game 1 loss to Boston.

Embiid finished 12-of-21 from the field and 5-of-6 from the line with 13 rebounds, five assists, one steal and two triples, but the Celtics made him work for everything and Al Horford got the best of him at times. Boston was one of the toughest matchups for Embiid during the regular season as he shot just 38.5% from the field against them across three games, so his strong game tonight is definitely something they will look to build on. Ben Simmons' had a tougher time, finishing with 18 points, seven rebounds, six assists, two steals, one block and a game-high seven turnovers.
Apr 30 - 11:12 PM

Ben Simmons praised Robert Covington's performance on defense in Philadelphia's Game 1 victory vs. Miami.

Covington finished with nine points, seven boards, four dimes, two triples, and three blocks in his 26.5 minutes of action. "He was huge," Simmons said. "Had a lot of deflections, blocks. He's just a great defender all around. he's long and did a great job tonight." Covington's going to be an X-Factor for the Sixers in their playoff run, and Philly will be that much more dangerous if he's rolling in the right direction.
Apr 15 - 2:33 PM

Coach Brett Brown said that Markelle Fultz would "probably" start at point guard if Ben Simmons (illness) is unable to play Tuesday vs. Atlanta.

Simmons was unable to participate in Tuesday morning's shootaround due to gastroenteritis and spent Tuesday morning at the team hotel getting fluids. Fultz would be an intriguing DFS option if Simmons is ruled out; however, he would likely split minutes with T.J. McConnell.
Apr 10 - 1:29 PM

Joel Embiid (rest) will not suit up for Monday's game in Milwaukee.

Embiid logged 36 minutes on Sunday, which the 76ers describe as "heavy loading," and because of that the medical staff will not clear him to play on Monday. He is, however, expected to play in the first back-to-back set of his career on Friday vs. the Heat and then Saturday vs. the Pacers, which likely means he'll have his minutes monitored on Friday. With him unavailable for tonight's game, Ben Simmons, Robert Covington and Dario Saric will be asked to step it up on offense. Daily Slant: Ben Simmons gets a +4.1% usage bump with Embiid out, but his fantasy points per minute mark drops -0.06, and not having Embiid around to take some of the pressure off him makes Simmons a viable GPP fade. Simmons still can't shoot more than 5-8 feet from the hoop, so creating his own shot gets a little tougher without Joel. Dario Saric sees a healthy +3.5% usage boost and a +0.17 FPPM mark.
Jan 29 - 3:10 PM

Brett Brown said he doesn't think Joel Embiid (hand) will take the court for Wednesday's game against the Spurs, calling him "very doubtful."

Embiid's hand is still sore and Brown said he could miss Friday's game against the Pistons as well, so it would be quite shocking to see him take the floor tonight after these comments from the head coach. Expect more minutes for Richaun Holmes, with Ben Simmons, Robert Covington and Dario Saric taking on more usage.
Jan 3 - 5:23 PM

Joel Embiid (hand) is being listed as doubtful for Wednesday's game against the Spurs.

X-rays on Embiid's sprained right hand came back negative, but it sounds like it's swelled up a bit since he sustained the injury on Sunday, and knowing how the 76ers tend to handle him, it looks like there's a good chance he'll be watching Wednesday's game from the sidelines. With him out, Ben Simmons' usage will spike and there will be more minutes available for Richaun Holmes. Check back for another update following Wednesday morning's shootaround.
Jan 2 - 2:21 PM

Joel Embiid (rest) will return to the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Pelicans, sending Amir Johnson back to the bench.

Robert Covington (back) will miss Sunday's game, so the 76ers will roll out a starting five featuring Ben Simmons, J.J. Redick, Timothe Luwawu, Dario Saric and Embiid. Embiid should be working with a hefty usage and is a solid DFS target with a favorable matchup against the Pelicans, and Saric could earn some extra minutes at the three-spot tonight.

T.J. McConnell returned to the bench on Monday and hit 5-of-8 shots and a 3-pointer for 11 points, six boards and three assists in Monday's loss to the Cavs.

TJM went off in Saturday's start, finishing with 15 points, seven rebounds, 13 assists, three steals and a 3-pointer, but still played pretty well tonight off the pine. He's not a must-own player by any means, but makes for a decent DFS punt on most nights, as well as a deep-league point guard option. However, if Ben Simmons is going to miss time with his sprained right ankle, McConnell could end up being a sneaky pickup.
Mon, Nov 27, 2017 09:32:00 PM

Dario Saric will remain in the starting five for Monday's game against the Rockets, with J.J. Redick (back) unavailable.

Saric played well through 30 minutes as a starter on Saturday, posting 12 points, one board, three dimes, one steal and four triples, so feel free to get him active. Joining Saric in the starting five will be Jerryd Bayless, Ben Simmons, Robert Covington and Joel Embiid.

Markelle Fultz (right shoulder) is out indefinitely with "soreness and scapular muscle imbalance," and he'll be re-evaluated in three weeks.

The good news is that he doesn't have structural damage. Fultz never looked right to begin the season and it's not a surprise to see Philly take a cautious route with the No. 1 pick. Jerryd Bayless and T.J. McConnell will both earn more minutes until Fultz is ready to go, and Ben Simmons will continue to operate as a de facto point guard. If you've been clinging to Fultz in a re-draft league, this is your cue to cut him for a healthy player.
Sun, Oct 29, 2017 04:15:00 PM

Jerryd Bayless will be in the starting lineup for Wednesday's season opener against Washington.

Joining Bayless in the starting five for tonight's game will be Ben Simmons, J.J. Redick, Robert Covington and Joel Embiid. Bayless will likely remain in the starting lineup until Markelle Fultz (shoulder) is fully up to speed, but it's tough to see him earning enough minutes to make a difference in most leagues.
Wed, Oct 18, 2017 11:28:00 AM

Jerryd Bayless will likely be in the starting lineup for Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Wizards.

The 76ers will initially be bringing Markelle Fultz off the bench as he recovers from his shoulder issues, so it looks like Philly will be going with a starting five featuring Ben Simmons, Bayless, J.J. Redick, Robert Covington and Joel Embiid on opening night with Fultz and Dario Saric working with the second unit. Bayless probably won't be receiving many minutes as a starter, though, so he's not a great target in most settings.
Mon, Oct 16, 2017 03:01:00 PM

Dario Saric blew up for 26 points, nine rebounds and three steals in 24 minutes off Philly's bench on Wednesday.

Saric made 10-of-14 shots overall, including a sparkling 5-of-8 from downtown. Brett Brown is experimenting with him as a backup center, due to Richaun Holmes' wrist injury, and things couldn't have gone better for Saric tonight. His ADP has plummeted with Ben Simmons taking over the PF spot this season, but Saric is still a viable late-round option in roto leagues.
Wed, Oct 11, 2017 10:52:00 PM

Brett Brown said he sees Robert Covington "starting and ending" games for the 76ers this season.

The 76ers will likely be rolling out a starting five of Markelle Fultz, J.J. Redick, Covington, Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid (knee) when the 2017-18 season begins, with Dario Saric being used in a sixth man type role. Covington should be able to score at a more efficient rate this season with the improved offense around him, and it sounds like he'll still be a significant part of the rotation, so he could turn out to be one of the better value picks towards the middle rounds on draft day.
