Markelle Fultz did not score with one rebound and one assist in four minutes against the Heat on Thursday.
He did get some run next to Joel Embiid, which is rare because those two only played 31 minutes together in their careers before tonight. However, he was lost on defense, so coach Brett Brown couldn't go back to him. Apr 19 - 10:05 PM

Ben Simmons (illness) did not participate in shootaround and is questionable for Tuesday's game vs. Atlanta.

Simmons is dealing with gastroenteritis and spent Tuesday morning at the team hotel getting fluids. The Sixers have won 14-straight, with Simmons averaging a triple-double during the 14-game stretch. And this game does matter to Philly in terms of playoff positioning, as the Sixers need to win their final two contests to lock up the No. 3 seed in the East. We should have an update on Simmons this afternoon. If he is unable to play, Markelle Fultz and T.J. McConnell will divvy up minutes at point guard.
Apr 10 - 10:54 AM

T.J. McConnell went off for six points, five rebounds, nine assists and six steals in 28 minutes off the bench on Wednesday.

Markelle Fultz (shoulder) will miss at least two more games before being re-evaluated, and his actual return date is uncertain, so McConnell should continue to see 24-28 minutes per game. According to Basketball-Reference, McConnell is now the 12th player with at least nine assists and six steals in a reserve role (since 1983-84). He's on the wire in most leagues, so give him a look if you need a cheap PG rental.

Jerryd Bayless had 13 points, three rebounds, three assists, three 3-pointers and one steal in 28 minutes as a starter on Wednesday.

The Sixers want plenty of shooting around Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, which might be why Bayless got the nod at PG ahead of Markelle Fultz. Their roles could easily flip if Fultz starts knocking down jumpers, and it's hard to get excited about Bayless' fantasy upside on a youthful Sixers squad. That said, he's worth a look in the unlikely even that his minutes settle in the 26-28 range.

Jerryd Bayless will be in the starting lineup for Wednesday's season opener against Washington.

Joining Bayless in the starting five for tonight's game will be Ben Simmons, J.J. Redick, Robert Covington and Joel Embiid. Bayless will likely remain in the starting lineup until Markelle Fultz (shoulder) is fully up to speed, but it's tough to see him earning enough minutes to make a difference in most leagues.

Jerryd Bayless will likely be in the starting lineup for Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Wizards.

The 76ers will initially be bringing Markelle Fultz off the bench as he recovers from his shoulder issues, so it looks like Philly will be going with a starting five featuring Ben Simmons, Bayless, J.J. Redick, Robert Covington and Joel Embiid on opening night with Fultz and Dario Saric working with the second unit. Bayless probably won't be receiving many minutes as a starter, though, so he's not a great target in most settings.

Brett Brown said he sees Robert Covington "starting and ending" games for the 76ers this season.

The 76ers will likely be rolling out a starting five of Markelle Fultz, J.J. Redick, Covington, Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid (knee) when the 2017-18 season begins, with Dario Saric being used in a sixth man type role. Covington should be able to score at a more efficient rate this season with the improved offense around him, and it sounds like he'll still be a significant part of the rotation, so he could turn out to be one of the better value picks towards the middle rounds on draft day.

Ben Simmons (right foot surgery) said during ESPN's telecast on Sunday that he's resumed playing 5-on-5.

He also noted that coach Brett Brown "wants to start [Simmons] at the point," but that he and rookie Markelle Fultz should each find their role depending on the situation. Simmons is expected to be ready for opening night but Brown recently said it would be "very ambitious" to play him without a minute-limit, which dents his fantasy appeal.
