Donovan Mitchell needed 26 minutes to score 21 points during a 111-84 win over the Heat on Wednesday, adding five rebounds, three assists, two steals and two 3-pointers.
He's been back to his score-first ways, but the good news is Mitchell is making shots again with improved shot selection. Since returning from a rib injury, Mitchell averaged 21.3 points, 4.0 boards, 2.3 dimes, 1.9 steals, 2.1 treys and 2.9 turnovers on 44.8% from the field in those eight. He still hasn't even found his stroke on jumpers yet, so there's still room for improvement. Dec 13 - 1:09 AM

Kyle Korver - G/F - Jazz

Kyle Korver scored five points in 15 minutes on Sunday but didn't contribute any rebounds, assists, steals or blocks.

The veteran has settled into a 3-point specialist role off Utah's bench, alternating double-digit scoring efforts with disappearing acts (he failed to score in 14 minutes on Thursday). The Jazz are 3-2 since the joined the lineup but he's not worth owning in fantasy while Joe Ingles and Donovan Mitchell are healthy.
Dec 9 - 9:46 PM

Royce O'Neale made a fill-in start on Sunday but had just two points and one rebound in 15 minutes.

Donovan Mitchell was out tonight due to bruised ribs and O'Neale got the start at SG, but he burned owners who deployed him in DFS. Mitchell is day-to-day so there's no reason to own O'Neale in any format.
Nov 25 - 10:54 PM

Ricky Rubio (neck) went off for 27 points (11-of-16 FGs, 3-of-4 FTs) during Sunday's road win vs. the Kings, adding seven rebounds and five assists in 27 minutes.

Rubio shot a mere 31.1% from the field in October. He came in at 38.9% in November, but was feeling it tonight and even made 2-of-3 triples. The only bad news is that Rubio didn't get any steals or blocks for the second time all season, but owners can live with that -- he'll have the ball in his hands a ton if Donovan Mitchell (ribs) can't play vs. Indiana on Monday.
Nov 25 - 10:52 PM

Royce O'Neale will enter the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Kings, with Donovan Mitchell (ribs) unavailable.

O'Neale put up 11 points, three boards, three dimes and a steal across 19 minutes as a starter earlier in November, so he could be someone to think about streaming in deep leagues. Alec Burks is coming off a 17-point game, so he could be an option in DFS with Mitchell out tonight.
Nov 25 - 7:32 PM

Ricky Rubio had seven points on 3-of-12 shooting during Friday's loss to the Lakers, going 0-of-4 from deep with five assists and one rebound in 25 minutes.

Jazz coach Quin Snyder relied on his bench more than usual tonight and only Joe Ingles and Rudy Gobert played more than 24 minutes. Donovan Mitchell exited early with bruised ribs and if he misses any time Rubio should have the ball in his hands more often than usual. He was trending up in Utah's past three games, so owners can expect a better performance vs. De'Aaron Fox and the Kings on Sunday.
Nov 24 - 1:39 AM

Derrick Favors (knee) will return to the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves, sending Jae Crowder back to the bench.

Favors only missed one game with a sore knee, so he shouldn't have any sort of minutes limit tonight, and is safe to fire up in all season-long settings. Joining him in the starting five will be Ricky Rubio, Donovan Mitchell, Joe Ingles and Rudy Gobert. Crowder's minutes will take a slight hit with the return to the second unit, but he'll still be a prominent part of the rotation.
Oct 31 - 7:30 PM

Ben Simmons was named the Rookie of the Year for 2017-18.

It was really a two-man race between Simmons and Donovan Mitchell, but Jayson Tatum turned a lot of heads as well. Simmons exceeded expectations this season, averaging 15.8 points, 8.2 assists, 8.1 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 0.9 blocks while leading the 76ers to a 52-win season. He doesn't have a 3-point shot yet and his free throw percentage leaves a lot to be desired, but the nightly triple-double threat will be a popular pick in the early rounds for any owner willing to punt a couple categories.
Jun 25 - 9:14 PM

The three finalists for Rookie of the Year are Ben Simmons, Donovan Mitchell and Jayson Tatum.

There was no real drama in this 'finalist' pool, as those three rose above the ranks of guys like Lonzo Ball, Lauri Markkanen, John Collins and Kyle Kuzma. Tatum is a longshot here, despite his terrific play in the postseason, and it's widely considered a two-man race between Simmons and Mitchell.
May 16 - 8:26 PM

Dante Exum posted 14 points on 4-of-6 FGs and 6-of-6 FTs on Sunday, with five assists, three rebounds, one steal and one turnover in 17 minutes of action.

Exum was coming off a 21-point gem vs. the Grizzlies and he continues to shine -- the only difference is that his minutes dropped off with Ricky Rubio (hamstring) back in the starting lineup. As long as Rubio and Donovan Mitchell are both active, it'll be hard for Exum to have more than deep-league appeal.
Apr 1 - 9:52 PM

Ben Simmons had 16 points, eight rebounds (four offensive), eight assists, one steal and one block in 37 minutes during Sunday's loss in D.C.

Simmons' versatility continues to impress Sixers fans, fantasy owners, and his own teammates and coaches. "It’s staggering the distance he can cover on limited dribbles," said coach Brett Brown. Simmons isn't bashful about his unique skill-set, either, saying recently, "I’m 6-10, I can pass the ball, I’m fast, I’m strong, I’m quick." If you ignore his 56.7% free-throw shooting, he's leading the field for rookie fantasy value ahead of fellow ROY candidate Donovan Mitchell.

Feb 25 - 11:07 PM

Derrick Rose has been traded to the Jazz.

Rose hasn't been productive on the court in a long time and we don't see that changing in Utah. With Donovan Mitchell and Ricky Rubio running the offense in Utah, Rose is not worth picking up in most formats. He's expected to be released so that he can pursue a deal with a playoff team.
Feb 8 - 1:04 PM

Jonas Jerebko will replace Thabo Sefolosha in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Wizards.

Derrick Favors (ankle) is unavailable for Wednesday's game, so the Jazz will roll out a starting five featuring Ricky Rubio, Donovan Mitchell, Joe Ingles, Jerebko and Ekpe Udoh. As a starter this season, Jerebko has posted averages of 9.1 points, 4.0 boards, 1.4 triples and 1.1 assists per contest, so he's basically just a low-end streaming option in deep leagues.
Jan 10 - 6:32 PM

Jayson Tatum and Donovan Mitchell have been named Rookie of the Month for the Eastern and Western Conferences, respectively.

Tatum averaged 14.6 points and 5.9 rebounds in December, while shooting 52.9% from the field and 45.1% from downtown. He's the fifth Celtics rookie to earn the honor, joining Dino Radja, Paul Pierce, Adrian Griffin and Marcus Smart. Meanwhile, Mitchell was basically a lock in the West after averaging 23.1 points, 2.2 triples, 3.4 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.8 steals in 13 games for the Jazz.

Ricky Rubio was quiet in 23 minutes during Saturday's 103-89 home loss, posting six points, five assists, three rebounds and zero 3-pointers, steals or blocks.

Rubio had 11 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists vs. the Spurs on Thursday, but that came with Donovan Mitchell (toe) on the sidelines. The rookie returned tonight and Rubio's numbers predictably tumbled, as he's getting fewer touches with Mitchell on-ball so much for the Jazz. Rubio's trade value has bottomed out, so owners might as well hold him and hope he starts to click with his new team in 2018.

Rodney Hood started for the short-handed Jazz on Wednesday, picking up 17 points on 5-of-11 FGs and 4-of-5 FTs in 28 minutes of action.

The Jazz were playing without Donovan Mitchell (bruised toe) and his team-high 28.4 percent usage, which left a lot of touches on the table. Hood has never been shy offensively, but his scoring was the extent of his value tonight -- he added one steal with zero rebounds, assists or blocks, and he turned it over four times. He'll look to atone vs. the visiting Spurs on Thursday.
