Al Horford played 46 minutes on his way to 15 points, nine rebounds, four assists, a steal, and a block in the Hawks' Game 6 loss to the Celtics on Thursday.
Horford missed the deciding free throw late and had seven turnovers, but it's practically impossible to let that color his gutty performance tonight. Josh Smith scored 18 points with nine boards, four assists, two steals, and one block, but uncorked a groaning long jumper that missed short in crunch time and played some uninspired defense late. Jeff Teague hit just 2-of-9 shots for five points with six assists, Marvin Williams went for 16 and eight with four threes but rode the pine a bit too much late, and Joe Johnson hit 7-of-17 shots for 17 points but missed on a patented iso-Joe late, as well.
Al Horford, who was supposedly on a minutes count, played 41 of them and hit 8-of-15 shots for 19 points, 11 rebounds, three steals and three blocks to lead the Hawks to an 87-86 win over the Celtics in Game 5.
The Hawks turned it over on a horrible inbounds pass with 10 seconds left, and then Rajon Rondo fumbled the ball late, as the Hawks held on for the one-point win. Josh Smith added 13 points, 16 rebounds and six assists on 6-of-16 shooting, Joe Johnson scored 15, Jeff Teague had 16 points and two 3-pointers, and Marvin Williams had 15 points and three 3-pointers. The Hawks five starters were the only ones in double figures, and Game 6 is in Boston on Thursday, with the Celtics leading the series 3-2.
Marvin Williams will move into the starting lineup for Tuesday's Game 5 against the Celtics.
Joe Johnson will move from small forward to shooting guard, replacing Kirk Hinrich. Williams will start at small forward, where he averaged 9.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 37 games as a starter during the regular season.
Jeff Teague scored 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting with four rebounds, six assists, one steal, and two blocks in the Hawks' Game 3 loss to the Celtics on Friday.
The story of the game for the Hawks was the lack of offense and the lack of execution in general throughout the night. Joe Johnson hit just 11-of-28 shots with plenty of head-scratching iso-Joe moments, and the team would certainly benefit from a more balanced approach. Tracy McGrady survived an ankle injury to finish with 12 points on 5-of-14 shooting, nine boards, and four turnovers, Kirk Hinrich was shutout with zero points in 26 minutes, and Marvin Williams hit just 1-of-6 shots for three points but had 11 boards. Game 4 is on Sunday.
Jeff Teague had 18 points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block on 6-of-18 shooting in Tuesday's Game 2 loss to the Celtics.
Teague hit a couple threes and had a nice fantasy line, but the poor shooting hurts. Joe Johnson led the Hawks with 22 points on 7-of-17 shooting, while Josh Smith had 16 points, 12 boards, five assists and two blocks before missing much of the fourth quarter with a sprained left knee. They were the only Hawks in double figures scoring tonight.
Josh Smith scored 23 points on 10-of-14 shooting with nine rebounds, seven assists, and a steal in the Hawks' easy 106-89 win over the Mavs on Thursday.
The Mavs are just fine playing the Thunder and rested their key guys tonight, and the Hawks put their foot on the gas and didn't look back. Kirk Hinrich pitched in with 12 points, five boards, three assists, two steals, and two threes, Joe Johnson hit 7-of-11 shots for 15 points with a normal line, and Jeff Teague added 17 points, five assists, and three treys to finish his solid campaign.
Jeff Teague bounced back from a pair of awful games in Monday's win over the Raptors, scoring 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting (including a three) with six rebounds, 10 assists, two steals, and two blocks.
Teague had been playing well before the two duds, and with Zaza Pachulia now likely out for the rest of the season there is more reason for Teague to push tempo. Josh Smith added 15 points, nine boards, four assists, two steals, and two blocks, and Joe Johnson scored 18 points with two rebounds, three assists, and two threes in the win.
Josh Smith scored 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting with eight rebounds, four assists, and one steal in 28 minutes on Friday against the Magic.
Smith left the game momentarily after tweaking something, but we haven't heard anything about it since then and we'll let you know if we do. Joe Johnson added 16 points, four rebounds, three assists, two threes, a steal, and a block in the win.
Josh Smith stuffed the stat sheet on Wednesday night, scoring 20 points on 9-of-19 shooting with 11 rebounds, five assists, six turnovers and two blocks.
While the six turnovers are a bit disappointing, the rest of Smoove's line was impressive. Joe Johnson struggled mightily in this one, scoring 14 points on just 5-of-17 shooting, and was the primary reason the Hawks came up just short in overtime.
Josh Smith was one of seven Hawks' players in double-figures on Saturday, finishing with 15 points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal in 23 minutes.
The low playing time for Atlanta's starters is unconcerning -- they put the game out of reach in the second quarter and simply weren't needed down the stretch. Jeff Teague scored 11 points in 23 minutes and Joe Johnson added 18 points in 22 minutes.
Jeff Teague tied a career-high with 24 points on 9-of-16 shooting (including a three) with five rebounds, a season-high 11 assists, two steals, and one block in the Hawks' 101-96 win over the Pistons on Friday.
This was 'good Teague,' which is the one that aggressively drives to the rim and doesn't hide in the corner while deferring to teammates. We've seen mostly 'good Teague' this month, and he looks good for the Hawks' upcoming four-game week. Josh Smith added 22 points, 12 boards, four assists, a steal, and three blocks, and Joe Johnson posted 16 points, four rebounds, seven assists, a steal, and two threes in the win.
Jeff Teague scored 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting (no threes) with two rebounds, seven assists, three steals, and three blocks in the Hawks' 100-90 win over the Knicks on Friday.
Teague had five turnovers and still makes some head-scratching plays, but he has pulled himself out of his post-All Star game lull. Unfortunately for Teague and his teammates, the Hawks are staring at two straight three-game weeks. Joe Johnson added 28 points with a full line and Josh Smith turned the ball over seven times, but finished with 23 points on 8-of-19 shooting (0-for-5 from deep) and a full line in the win, as well.
The Hawks stole a comeback victory on Saturday behind clutch play from Joe Johnson (16 points, five rebounds) and another brilliant effort from Josh Smith -- 20 points, nine rebounds, two assists, three steals and two blocks.
Smith agitated for a trade earlier this season, but it hasn't distracted him at all on the court, where he's averaging career-highs in points (18.9) and rebounds (9.8). Enjoy.
Josh Smith scored 30 points on 12-of-25 shooting (0-for-3 from deep, 6-of-8 from the line) with 12 rebounds, four assists, one steal, and two blocks in the Hawks' 93-84 win over the Nets on Friday.
The shooting percentage isn't great, but it's better than the 15-of-49 slump he sported coming into tonight's action. Joe Johnson added 16 points on 7-of-17 shooting (including a three) with two rebounds and five assists in the win.
Josh Smith hit just 10-of-29 shots, but still finished with 32 points, 17 rebounds, five assists and three blocks in Wednesday's overtime win against the Cavaliers.
His shooting may be crushing you this week (15-of-49), but he's totaled 42 points, 28 rebounds, 13 assists, two steals and three blocks in two games, and still has three to go this week. Enjoy the ride. Joe Johnson is also rolling, and had 22 points, six boards, five assists and three 3-pointers tonight. The Hawks showed some resiliency tonight, overcoming a 16-point deficit early, and were also down six-points in the overtime session.
Josh Smith went nuts in the Hawks' overtime loss to the Nuggets on Tuesday, scoring a season-high 33 points on 13-of-23 shooting (including two threes) with 13 rebounds, seven assists, one steal, and two blocks.
Smith is returning first round value over the last month and just killing the opposition. Congrats are in order if you bought low earlier in the year. Joe Johnson scored a season-high 34 points with six 3-pointers in the loss.
Kirk Hinrich returned to the bench with Joe Johnson (knee) back on Friday, scoring nine points on 3-of-5 shooting (including a three) with one steal and one assist in 17 minutes.
Hinrich wasn't producing much as a starter and the move to the bench all-but kills his fantasy value. His best hope is a trade at the deadline, or if Jeff Teague continues his recent slide.
Jannero Pargo scored just three points on 1-of-6 shooting (including a three) with two rebounds and zero assists in 11 minutes off the bench on Friday.
With Joe Johnson (knee) back in the fold, Pargo has no real fantasy value despite the fact that he will likely post a usable fantasy line from time to time.
Willie Green (back) will not play in Wednesday's game against the Pistons.
"We are shooting for Detroit. It feels good but I want to get a couple workouts in before I play," he said. With Joe Johnson (knee) also on the sidelines, both Kirk Hinrich and Tracy McGrady will continue to see increased minutes.
Jannero Pargo came off the bench and hit four 3-pointers on his way to 16 points in 24 minutes for the Hawks on Tuesday.
There's no doubt Pargo can score if he gets minutes, and he got run tonight because Joe Johnson remains out with knee tendinitis. However, with Tracy McGrady and Kirk Hinrich both healthy, Pargo should be real inconsistent until Johnson's return. Hinrich started tonight, but had just two points in 18 minutes, clearing the way for Pargo's success.
