Packers acquired QB DeShone Kizer from the Browns in exchange for CB Damarious Randall.
The deal also includes a pick swap. With Tyrod Taylor coming in and an early-round rookie likely to follow, the writing was on the wall for Kizer in Cleveland. That said, this move is likely a blessing for the 2017 second-round pick, who will get a chance to develop behind one of the best quarterbacks in the game. Despite his rocky rookie season, the book is not closed on Kizer as a starting quarterback. With Kizer on board, the Packers could look to move on from Brett Hundley, who was overmatched as a starter last season. Mar 9 - 6:45 PM

Browns coach Hue Jackson is holding off on naming his Week 8 starter at quarterback.

Jackson said each of Cody Kessler, DeShone Kizer and Kevin Hogan are a possibility. Our money is on Kessler, though it's possible the Browns give Kizer one last chance under center. With the season already torpedoed at 0-7, Jackson doesn't have much to lose.

RotoGrinders.com Daily Slant: Minnesota has limited opposing QBs to the fifth-fewest fantasy points this season while holding them to the ninth-lowest rating (83.0) and picking off the eighth-most passes (7). Kizer, the league-leader in INTs (11), threw two on Sunday and Kessler added another in relief. Hogan tossed three picks himself in his lone start this season and has been picked off at least once in every game he's attempted more than 10 passes. With one of the best pass-blocking tackles, Joe Thomas, out for the year, the starter will probably face more pressure than normal. The Vikings will be a popular DFS option no matter who the Browns put under center.

Browns coach Hue Jackson will announce his Week 7 starter at quarterback on Wednesday.

Kevin Hogan was scarcely better than DeShone Kizer in the Browns' latest dismal loss on Sunday. Jackson also claimed Kizer "learned a lot" by watching Hogan and the game unfold from the sideline. Whomever the Browns start at quarterback in Week 7 will have a nonexistent receiver corps and barely functional running game.

Coach Hue Jackson announced Kevin Hogan will start Week 6 against the Texans.

Rookie DeShone Kizer has officially been benched. "This does not change the way we feel about DeShone going forward," Jackson said. "He has worked extremely hard and still very much has a bright future. Right now, it's better for him and his development to back up Kevin." This has been the expected move all week after Kizer was pulled at halftime last week and Hogan came on to complete 16-of-19 passes for 194 yards and two scores against the Jets. This will be Hogan's first career start. In seven mop-up appearances through two years, Hogan has completed 40-of-64 passes for 481 yards, three touchdowns, and four interceptions. Even without J.J. Watt and Whitney Mercilus, the Texans will be a defense to stream this week.

Browns coach Hue Jackson hopes to name a starting quarterback by Wednesday.

Jackson said he has an "idea" of who will be the starter, but he wants to "watch the tape" of Monday night's game before making a final decision. Brock Osweiler got the start again on Monday night, but he once again struggled with ball placement and had a ball tipped and intercepted at the line. DeShone Kizer led two scoring drives, but he held the ball too long and had a couple very questionable throws. With solid talent on offense, the Browns could surprise if the quarterback situation cooperates.

ESPN Browns reporter Pat McManamon believes the Browns' starting quarterback job is Brock Osweiler's "to lose."

Per McManamon, Osweiler has had his best two practices of camp the last two days after it was announced he would start the preseason opener. Osweiler has taken all of the first-team reps, with DeShone Kizer with the twos and Cody Kessler demoted to the third team. Osweiler would apparently have to lay an egg -- which he's very capable of doing -- to lose the job, while Kizer would have to light it up.

ESPN Cleveland reports "signs are pointing" to Brock Osweiler starting the Browns' first preseason game.

Osweiler hasn't seen many reps with the first-team offense, but outplayed DeShone Kizer and Cody Kessler in Friday's team scrimmage. Coach Hue Jackson said he could "shake things up" next week, suggesting Osweiler will be the new starter at practice. It's an unexpected turn in the Browns' quarterback battle. With Kessler struggling, the Week 1 job may be down to Osweiler and Kizer.

Browns coach Hue Jackson said he plans to keep the same quarterback rotation at least until Friday.

The Browns will conduct their Orange and Brown scrimmage on Friday, and Jackson will wait to see how that plays out before making any decisions. Cody Kessler has remained the first quarterback through the rotation early in camp, but the Akron Beacon Journal's Nate Ulrich reports he has struggled. It is possible second-rounder DeShone Kizer is able to jump Kessler as early as this weekend. Brock Osweiler continues to work with the second-team offense.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer still considers Cody Kessler the "man to beat" in the Browns' quarterback competition.

Reporter Mary Kay Cabot labels Kessler as the slightest of favorites. Speaking Thursday, coach Hue Jackson said second-rounder DeShone Kizer is ahead of schedule. The local media began rallying around Kizer's chances earlier this summer. Brock Osweiler is not a consideration.

Cody Kessler will get the first reps of OTAs.

It's as expected given Kessler made eight rookie starts and has a full year in Hue Jackson's offense. He'll face competition from DeShone Kizer, Brock Osweiler and Kevin Hogan, with all four mixing in with the first team. Kessler will be on a short leash if he wins the Week 1 job.
