The Boston Herald reports RG Brian Waters has planned "all along" to return for his 14th season in 2012.
Waters and the Pats have been tight-lipped about his return. The 35-year-old has been absent for offseason activities, but that's no different than any other year. He always spends the spring with his family, missing voluntary work. Waters had a fine bounce-back season in 2011 as the Patriots' most consistent lineman. New England will field one of the NFL's top O-Lines this year. May 24 - 3:14 PM

Dan Roche of WBZ-TV Boston is reporting that Dan Koppen suffered a broken left ankle in Monday's Week 1 win over Miami.

Koppen was carted off early and spent the remainder of the contest on the sideline on crutches and in a boot. He may return late in the season, but for now the Patriots will need Dan Connolly to take over at center. 34-year-old Brian Waters was able to play well Monday night as the primary right guard. The Patriots have enough quality depth to withstand a few injuries on the O-Line.

Patriots C Dan Koppen will not return after leaving Monday's Week 1 game against the Dolphins with a left ankle injury.

Koppen had his leg pinned under a defender and was carted off the field. He returned to the sideline after halftime with crutches and then was seen sporting a boot in the fourth quarter. Dan Connolly, who was playing in a rotation with Brian Waters at right guard prior to Koppen's injury, has taken over at center. The Pats are extremely thin across their offensive line, and have to be hoping that Koppen's injury isn't serious, though it's looking like wishful thinking at this point.

Montrae Holland is locked in as the Cowboys' starting right guard following the release of Leonard Davis.

We've seen speculation that former Chiefs Pro Bowler Brian Waters could get a look, but the Cowboys are satisfied with rookies David Arkin and Bill Nagy behind the nine-year veteran. "Holland has never let us down," owner Jerry Jones said. "He'll continue to get these reps. He'll play well. I'm glad we got him."
