Darren McFadden has announced his retirement after 10 years in the NFL.
Waived by the Cowboys two days ago, McFadden went unclaimed on waivers. Even with Ezekiel Elliott suspended since Week 10, 30-year-old McFadden had been unable to get on the field for the Cowboys, getting scratched twice in three games since Zeke's ban took effect. Frankly, McFadden looked done in the preseason. He's apparently come to the same conclusion. It's a quiet end to a career that never quite lived up to expectations but was ultimately solid. The No. 4 overall pick of the 2008 draft after a sensational career at Arkansas, McFadden had 1,000-yard rushing seasons with both the Raiders and Cowboys. Much of McFadden's once-prodigious juice was sapped by early-career injuries. He retires with a career 4.16 YPC and 33 total touchdowns. Tue, Nov 28, 2017 03:41:00 PM

Alfred Morris is the Cowboys' likely Week 10 starter at running back with Ezekiel Elliott's six-game suspension back in place.

As was the case in Week 9 before Elliott's ban was once again delayed, Morris will get the first chance at establishing the "hot hand." Third-year UDFA Rod Smith is expected to be the second man up, followed by Darren McFadden. All three should get work, but Morris is definitely the best fantasy bet for Sunday against the Falcons. He can be treated as an RB2.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Alfred Morris will be the No. 1 running back while Ezekiel Elliott is suspended.

It makes sense considering Morris has been active ahead of Darren McFadden to this point in the season, but Jones did say both McFadden and Rod Smith will have roles. Morris is the best bet of the bunch, but McFadden is worth a speculative add in all leagues as well while Smith is worth a look in deep formats.

Ezekiel Elliott has been granted another temporary restraining order by the Southern District of New York, and will be allowed to play Week 7.

Zeke's restraining order, apparently issued by a "fill-in" judge, is for 14 days. He will have to make his case to Judge Katherine Fallia when she returns from vacation "before or by Oct. 30." She will decide on a "preliminary injunction." Unbelievable. So it appears Elliott will also be good for Week 8. His long-term prospects remain clear as mud, but fantasy owners have at least one more game to get their fantasy backfield in order. Darren McFadden and Alfred Morris won't be playable this week.
