Bilal Powell rushed 13 times for 46 yards while catching one pass for 10 yards in Sunday's Week 17 loss to the Patriots.
In a timeshare that was sometimes split three ways, Powell still managed to post career-highs in rushing yards (772), rushing attempts (178) and rushing scores (five) over the 2017 season. Where the timeshare and offensive scheme change hurt Powell was in the receiving department. After posting 47 and 58 receptions in each of the past two seasons, Powell managed to snag just 23 passes for 170 yards in the passing game. The 29-year old back is still affordably under contract for one more season and could enter the 2018 season was the team’s starting running back if they move on from veteran Matt Forte this offseason without spending significant draft capital at the position. Powell will enter the offseason as RB3 on the fantasy radar as even if he is the starter in 2018, Powell will very likely share reps with Elijah McGuire or another back since he’s never reached 200 carries in a season. Matt Forte played 28-of-56 snaps (50%) Week 7 against the Dolphins.

He out-snapped Bilal Powell by seven and out-touched him by one. With both players healthy again, it looks like the Jets will revert to the same workload split we saw the first several weeks of the season, a split which did not result in much fantasy success for either player. Neither Forte nor Powell will be better than an RB3 even in a good matchup against the Falcons this week.

NJ Advance Media's Connor Hughes reports the Jets are looking to add a fullback.

The move suggests the offense will change dramatically from the mostly spread attack under former OC Chan Gailey. Hughes reports New York is expected to put an "emphasis on the run game," which would be excellent news for Matt Forte's and Bilal Powell's fantasy values. Hughes mentions Mike Tolbert and Marcel Reece, but neither is a great lead blocker. Patrick DiMarco would make a lot of sense if the Falcons let him hit the open market.
