Sammy Watkins caught 6-of-7 targets for 100 yards in the Chiefs' Week 2 win over the Steelers, adding 31 yards on an end around.
The Chiefs made a point of getting Watkins going after his quiet Week 1, targeting him five times in the first 16 minutes. Despite the obvious intent, Watkins' usage did not feel forced. He was running fluidly in the Chiefs' high-octane attack. Watkins is going to be a feast-or-famine player behind Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, but today serves as a good reminder of his unusual upside for a WR3/4. Sep 16 - 5:33 PM

NFL Network's Mike Garofolo reports the Rams are more likely to use the franchise tag on DB Lamarcus Joyner than Sammy Watkins.

Formerly the Rams' slot corner, Joyner shifted full time to safety in 2017 and had by far his best season. Joyner picked off the first three passes of his career, forced a fumble and earned high all-around marks from Pro Football Focus. He turns 28 in November.

Speaking Thursday, Rams coach Sean McVay said top receivers Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp and Sammy Watkins would see little Week 17 playing time.

We wouldn't be surprised if the receiver trio joined Jared Goff and Todd Gurley in seeing zero snaps. Even if Woods doesn't play, he will finish the season with a new career high in yards (781).

Coach Bruce Arians said CB Patrick Peterson (quad) has looked "fine" and will play Week 7 against the Rams.

Peterson had to be pulled from Week 6 against the Bucs and was limited in practice this week. However, he's ready to roll for his date with Sammy Watkins, who has been a complete non-factor since his big game against the 49ers a few Thursdays ago. Watkins will remain that way in Peterson's shadow coverage. Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp have better matchups.
