Here’s a bit of behind the scenes data for you: If you were to search every player blurb we’ve ever written about Crosby, you would find the word concussion used 262 times with the most recent example being his brief stint on the sidelines during the 2017 playoffs. Crosby led the league with 44 goals and registered 45 assists in 75 games last season then went on to win his second straight Conn Smythe Trophy, but his lengthy concussion history looms large and gives us a moment of pause as he enters the back half of his career now that he turned 30 in August. That’s not enough reason to avoid Crosby. He’s either the best player in the league or the second best if you’re inclined to say that Connor McDavid took that title after his monster sophomore season, so Crosby naturally makes sense as a top-two pick and if you see him slip below that you should grab him without hesitation. Just be aware that in spite of the fact that he’s actually only missed 16 regular season games over the last four seasons that there’s still an underlining layer of risk there.

It looks like Jake Guentzel will once again play alongside Sidney Crosby.
Guentzel was shifted off of Crosby's line for Thursday's game but he was back alongside the Penguins' captain during Saturday's morning skate. Conor Sheary is skating on the other wing on the Pens' top unit. Guentzel remains a must start in all fantasy hockey pools.

Sidney Crosby picked up a goal and an assist in Wednesday's 5-4 overtime loss to the St. Louis Blues.
It was a special night for the Penguins, as they raised their 2017 Stanley Cup banner prior to the start of the game. Unfortunately for them, that didn't give them enough of a boost to win. Crosby registered the primary assist on Justin Schultz's first-period goal that gave the Pens a 1-0 lead at the time. The Blues responded by going up 2-1 and 4-2 before Crosby cut the lead to 3-2 in the third period and teammate Conor Sheary forced overtime. In the extra frame, it was Alex Pietrangelo that gave St. Louis the win. Crosby has been a dominant force for over a decade and that will continue this season. Expect him to finish as one of the top two scoring leaders this season.
