If you're writing a list of buy-low candidates to prioritize for your fantasy drafts, then Claude Giroux should be high up there. He's coming off a rough campaign by his standards as he scored 14 goals and 58 points while posting a minus-15 rating in 82 contests. His 14 goals was the lowest he's recorded in a season where he played at least 50 games and his 0.71 points-per-game pace was his lowest since 2009-10. You might want to write those numbers off though as he was bothered in 2016-17 by hip issues that stemmed from offseason surgeries, but those hopefully won't be a factor this season. His 7.0 shooting percentage in 2016-17 was also well below his 10.6% career average and he had a 96.9 PDO and while any analysis of that by itself needs to be taken with a grain of salt, it does suggest that perhaps he was due to score more often than he did. With all those factors in mind, it wouldn't be surprising if he bounces back this season by flirting with the 70-point milestone.
Updated Oct. 19: Claude Giroux's four-game point streak came to an end in Thursday's 1-0 loss to Nashville. The Flyers couldn't solve Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne. Giroux finished the game with three shots on goal and one hit in 22:06 of ice time. The 29-year-old has four goals and five assists in seven games this season. After a disappointing 2016-17 season, Giroux still looks like he's back on track this year. He's a must-own in all fantasy leagues right now.

Flyers coach Dave Hakstol has been pleased by what he's seen when using Claude Giroux as a left winger.
Hakstol has been experimenting over the course of training camp and the preseason with shifting Giroux from center to the left wing. "That’s what we were looking for, and if you think back to it, those guys had a practice together and then we went away from it a bit," Hakstol said after Thursday's 5-1 preseason win. "There’s obviously some big changes there for ‘G’ and a different look with those three guys together. Give credit to those three guys. They’ve dug in and they’ve worked hard at it. Looking at it tonight, for sure, it’s an option." Giroux's linemates when he's been serving on the left wing have been Sean Couturier and Jakub Voracek. Having Giroux shift positions would help with their logjam at center, but it's still not guaranteed that Giroux will actually be a winger once the season starts.
