Stamkos was firing on all cylinders before he sustained a season-ending knee injury on Nov. 15. He suffered a lateral meniscus tear, which required surgery to repair, and missed the last 65 games. Prior to getting hurt, Stamkos compiled nine goals on 58 shots and he produced 20 points, including seven on the power play, in 17 appearances. He was held without a point in just five outings. It was hoped that the 27-year-old forward would return late in the year, but he wasn't ready yet. Stamkos is expected to be fine for training camp, though. He was clicking with Nikita Kucherov and Tampa Bay's dynamic duo could be reunited this season. Kucherov continued to rack up points in Stamkos' absence and they both have 80-point potential in 2017-18 whether they play together or not. Still, a more conservative projection of around 60-70 points may be in your best interest because he is coming back from a serious knee injury.

Steven Stamkos is confident that he can bounce back this season from his knee injury.
Stamkos has rebounded in fine form in the past from a broken leg (2013-14) and blood clot (2015-16). "It may take some time. It might not," Stamkos said. "The only way you're going to find out is getting in a regular season games and putting yourself through that test." He has been encouraged by his preseason performances and feels ready to contribute in a meaningful way this campaign. Stamkos is projected to start the regular season alongside Nikita Kucherov, which should help him hit the ground running.
