Seguin led Dallas in scoring last season with 72 points in 82 games, but his pace slowed from his previous three years. The 2016-17 campaign was his first since joining the Stars that he didn't average more than a point per game and it marked the first time that he failed to hit the 30-goal plateau despite racking up 301 shots. It says a great deal about Seguin's talent that he was still that productive in what was a frustrating year for himself and for the Stars as a whole. He is projected to be a full-time center this season after he was shifted between the middle and the wing. Coach Ken Hitchcock wants Seguin to play against the best players on the opposition and kill penalties. The increase in responsibility may be an adjustment for him early on, but it has the potential to have big dividends for the Stars down the road. Seguin wants to rise to the occasion and he should be able to live up to Hitchcock's expectations as a number one pivot. He underwent shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum during the off-season, but he is expected to be ready for training camp. Look for Seguin to get back to the 30-goal mark and finish in the 70-80 point range in 2017-18.

Tyler Seguin scored two goals in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Minnesota Wild.
Seguin has racked up at least 72 points in each of his last four NHL seasons, and don't be surprised if he surpasses that total again this season. The 25-year-old failed to hit the 30-goal mark for the first time in three seasons last year, but he remains one of the top point producers in the game right now.
