Eichel missed the first 21 games of the year after he sustained an ankle injury just before Buffalo's season opener. He provided the Sabres with a much-needed offensive boost when he returned to the lineup. Eichel averaged nearly a point-per-game for the rest of the campaign. He accounted for 24 goals and 33 assists in 61 matches to finish with a team-leading 57 points. Eichel had an impressive 11-game point streak from Feb. 14-Mar. 7. The 20-year-old pivot amassed 249 shots on goal, which is 11 more than he had during his rookie season in 20 fewer games. He also helped elevate Buffalo's power play to first overall in the league. Eichel generated 10 goals and 24 points on the man advantage. He is an elite offensive talent in the league and should be picked this year with the expectation that he'll produce somewhere in the 60-70 point range.

He set up two goals in third period to help Buffalo rally from a 4-1 deficit to force overtime. Eichel has recorded three multi-point performances in his last four outings. He has two goals and nine points through seven matches this year.

Jack Eichel picked up a goal and an assist in a 4-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday.
Eichel made an absolute picture perfect pass to set up Zemgus Girgensons for the game's first goal 15:45 into the first period. Eichel has been dominant this season, and currently sits at seven points through Buffalo's first five games.

Jack Eichel earned a pair of assists in Thursday's 3-2 loss to San Jose.
Eichel had the primary helper on both goals by linemate Jason Pominville in the contest after he went pointless in his first game of the season on Monday. However, he wasn't in a celebratory mood afterward because the Sabres still haven't posted their first win of the year (0-3-1). "We've got to just figure a way to be sick of losing," said Eichel. "I know I'm sick of losing. There's a lot of guys that are sick of losing. There's a difference between playing hard and playing hard and smart. We've got to execute our game all the way through the lineup, myself included."

Jack Eichel scored a goal and registered an assist in Buffalo's 6-3 loss to the Islanders on Saturday.
Eichel also registered an assist in the Sabres' season opener. His three points in two games might be currently overshadowed by some of the explosive starts we've seen, but it's nevertheless an impressive way to kick off the 2017-18 campaign. If he stays healthy then he could be among the contenders for the Art Ross Trophy.
