Emerson Etem Goes 50 in 50!

Western Hockey League

  Kamloops winger Brendan Ranford was named WHL Player of the Week after he generated three goals and five assists in three games last week.  The Philadelphia Flyers' seventh round pick in the 2010 draft is 10th in the league in scoring with 72 points in 53 games this season.  Buffalo prospect goaltender Nathan Lieuwen was nominated for the CHL Goaltender of the Week Award after he backstopped the Kootenay Ice to a 2-1-0 record, including one shutout, along with a .952 save percentage and 1.33 goals-against average.  The sixth rounder in 2011 owns the top goals-against average (2.23) in the WHL this year and is tied for the best save percentage (.923) as well.  Medicine Hat forward and Anaheim Ducks first-round choice Emerson Etem registered his 50th and 51st goals in Sunday's win over Brandon in just his 50th contest.  He became the first WHL player in 11 seasons to reach the 50-goal plateau in 50 or fewer games.

   Ontario Hockey League

  Cameron Brace of the Owen Sound Attack was awarded with OHL and CHL Player of the Week honors for the period ending February 12th.  He picked up four goals and five assists in only three games.  His week was highlighted with a seven-point outing against Peterborough on Saturday.  His teammate Jordan Binnington had a strong showing as well en route to the CHL Goaltender of the Week distinction.  The third round selection of the St. Louis Blues in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft made 105 saves last week in three wins and registered his first shutout of the year.  Binnington was the Top Goaltender at the 2011 Memorial Cup, but he owns a 17-13-1 record this year.  Undrafted forward Michael Catenacci racked up three goals and 11 points in four games for the Kitchener Rangers last week.  He attended Toronto's rookie camp this past fall and will be looking to secure an NHL contract at the end of the 2011-12 campaign. 

  Quebec Major Junior Hockey League

  Halifax netminder Zachary Fucale was the first star of the week in the QMJHL for his efforts in a pair of wins during four starts.  The rookie turned aside a total of 143 shots, while submitting a .958 save percentage and a 1.44 GAA during a busy week.  Florida's third overall pick Jonathan Huberdeau  was the second star after he produced four goals and added two helpers in two matches.  The Saint John Sea Dogs forward has amassed 45 points in 24 games.  Cape Breton's Jonathan Brunelle tallied eight points in three contests to earn the third star.  Minnesota prospect Charlie Coyle has contributed eight goals and 14 points in 10 games with the Sea Dogs since joining the QMJHL ranks from Boston University. 

  American Hockey League

  Edward Pasquale was dubbed AHL Player of Week for his play between the pipes for Winnipeg's minor league affiliate in St. John's.  He made 83 stops on 87 shots in three victories and posted his second goose egg of the year.   The 21-year-old keeper is playing in his second season at the minor-league level after being chosen in the fourth round of the 2009 draft by Atlanta.  Norfolk rookie Cory Conacher continues to light it up offensively for Tampa Bay's AHL farm club.  He leads all first-year players with 57 points in 50 games to sit fourth in league scoring.  He had three goals and two assists in three games last week.

  National Collegiate Athletic Association

  Scott Mayfield captured the WCHA Rookie of the Week honor after he collected two assists in a series sweep of Minnesota.  He was also credited with four shots on goal, four hits and two blocked shots.  The second rounder of the New York Islanders in 2011 has eight points and a team-leading 56 penalty minutes this campaign.  Colgate University's John Lidgett was the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week.  He notched three goals and three assists in two wins over Yale. 

  Elitserien - Swedish Elite League

  Ottawa Senators second round pick Jakob Silfverberg is enjoying a six-game scoring streak for Brynas in Sweden's top league.  The 39th overall selection in 2009 has totalled 10 points over that span and has 41 in 40 games this season.
