Fulham striker Bryan Ruiz will confirm his move to Netherlands side PSV Eindhoven on Sunday.

According to reports in the Netherlands, Ruiz will join PSV on a five month loan. The Costa Rican international was given the freedom to leave by head coach Rene Meulensteen earlier in the week so this news shouldn't be all that shocking. It was thought that he would be on his way to Real Betis of La Liga for a fee of €1 million, but the 28-year old has turned them down. Ruiz has one goal and four assists for the Cottagers this season but has not seen much playing time since late November. With Ruiz gone and Clint Dempsey's loan set to expire at the end of February, Meulensteen will look to add another attacker before the January transfer window closes.

Rene Meulensteen is allowing Costa Rican international Bryan Ruiz to discuss a potential exit from Fulham with other clubs during the January transfer window.

"We’ve allowed Bryan Ruiz to talk to a number of clubs to see if anything can come out of that. I’ve come in, I’ve looked at the squad, I’ve worked with these players. I’ve picked my teams on what I think are the right reasons and motivations and I can also understand Bryan’s point of view. He’s a good player, he’s got a World Cup coming up and he obviously needs to play," said Meulensteen. Ruiz has one goal and four assists in 773 minutes for Fulham this season, but he's only seen 89 total minutes in the team's last eight matches. With the addition of US international Clint Dempsey on loan from Seattle Sounders FC, a departure this January seems inevitable for the Costa Rican striker. Real Betis are reportedly interested to take him on loan for £750,000.

Head Coach Rene Meulensteen is not sold on parting ways with the 28-year old Costa-Rican international anytime soon.

Since Meulensteen replaced former manager Martin Jol, Bryan Ruiz has logged just three minutes with the first team. Despite his recent drop-off, the new Fulham boss is certain that his Ruiz still has what it takes to be a contributor in 2013. "Sometimes players go through bad patches and it does not go very well for them. It is confidence that drives players on and sometimes you need to protect them a little bit. Bryan is another very creative, attacking player. He is a game-changer. There are so many games to come and all the players will have a role to play." Ruiz hasn't been a complete fantasy dud this season. He notched a goal and three assists in a three-game span back in late September-early October. If he sees more time on the pitch and Fulham somehow find their form over the next few weeks he could be an intriguing option. Fulham play Manchester City this week, before a four-game span of winnable matchups: Norwich, Hill City, West Ham and Sunderland.

Martin Jol revealed that Bryan Ruiz and Brede Hangeland are both doubts for Fulham's trip to Southampton.

Hangeland has a nagging leg injury that saw the center back subbed off prematurely the previous two matches while Ruiz more recently cropped up with a back injury. Neither are preferred options for the weekend trip to St. Mary's Stadium anyway, but their absence would increase the fantasy potential of Saints players in both defense and attack.

Fulham's attack has been missing key elements including Dimitar Berbatov and Bryan Ruiz with the former back and the latter facing a late fitness test for Week 6.

It is crucial that Fulham's attack starts producing more opportunities. Dimitar Berbatov is a good player but he can't do it by himself. With Adel Taarabt not starting consistently, Fulham have struggled in the absence of Bryan Ruiz's creativity. Martin Jol will hope that Ruiz passes his late fitness test in time to feature in a winnable match against Cardiff City this week.
