The 18 year-old Belgian defensive midfielder has apparently come through some contractual red tape and wants to sign for the Cottagers.
Fulham's U18 team have been doing very well and adding another talented player to the mix would be a great thing for Martin Jol's side. There is still a gap between the veteran starting team and the talented youth that appear to be rising that this signing won't fill but compared to most of the rumors this summer pertaining to adding more veterans, this is a move in the right direction for Fulham. All three Premier League clubs could use a young holding midfielder with some upside and Clement Chantome could be the answer for any of the three.

Chantome has been on the books at PSG since he was 13 years old. He has been capped once by France and has played with the PSG senior team over 150 times. Despite these accomplishments and his status as a local boy made good he may be one of the valuable pieces that comes available as PSG's pocketbooks have swelled. Everton could use him as a replacement for Marouane Fellaini, WBA could use him as a major upgrade and Fulham need to get younger and fill the gap left by the departure of Mahamadou Diarra.

With the Cottagers needing to get younger all over the park this is the sort of rumor supporters will hope comes to fruition.

Having released a number of veteran players this summer including Mahamadou Diarra, Fulham need to refresh the squad. In the powerful Ghanaian, capped 8 times for his country, Fulham will acquire a player on the right side of his playing prime. Supporters will hope that this is a signal from new owner Shahid Khan that money will be available for similar refreshes for Fulham's long list of 30+ year old players (see, Duff, Riise, Riether, Hangeland, Berbatov, Sidwell, Stekelenburg). Having veterans isn't a bad thing, having nothing but veterans is a big risk.
