Marouane Chamakh is fighting to save his Crystal Palace career after suffering another setback playing for the development side on Monday night.
The striker was hoping to use the remaining games to earn himself a new deal - following an injury ravaged few years - with his current contract due to expire in June: "Marouane has been unlucky as he’s been playing catch up after missing a lot of football," Alan Pardew said recently. "But his contract is up in the summer so it’s a big period for him until the end of the season to do well." However, his latest (knee) injury is almost certain to keep Chamakh out of the FA Cup squad which takes on Reading this weekend and with Emmanuel Adebayor, Connor Wickham and Dwight Gayle all ahead of him in the pecking order his days at Selhurst Park look numbered. Crystal Palace's frontline could be given a boost in the near future with the return of forward Marouane Chamakh from a hamstring injury.

Palace manager Alan Pardew said at his weekly press conference that Chamakh is progressing in his recovery, but the club is being cautious to avoid a setback: "He's getting very close. We're having to be very, very careful because of this re-occurring hamstring injury." The former Arsenal forward has yet to feature for the club this season in any competition.

Marouane Chamakh could be out until 2016 after the Crystal Palace striker suffered a setback in training.

The 31 year-old was targeting a return after the international break having spent 3-months out but it now looks like a recurrence of a hamstring strain will keep the player out for the remainder of 2015. Only days ago Alan Pardew had claimed that new club doctor Zafar Iqbal would put an end to Chamakhs’ persistent problem after the Moroccan completed a 60-minute run-out for the development side. However the club are now fearing the worst and await the result of his latest scan. Palace face an attacking dilemma ahead of the trip to Chelsea in GW4 with Bamford [ineligible] and Bolasie [compassionate leave] plus Campbell and Wickham [both injured]. Dwight Gayle is pushing for his inclusion following a lively appearance from the bench against Villa while Bakary Sako should retain his place in the eleven after grabbing the winner just three minutes from time.

Sundays’ final day win over Swansea City was bitter / sweet for manager Alan Pardew as victory secured the Eagles’ highest ever BPL points tally thanks to a Marouane Chamakh goal before the striker was replaced because of injury.

Chamakh suffered his fourth hamstring strain of an injury affected season – just 15 starts completing 90 minutes on only 5 occasions – and this latest setback is cause for concern as the club assess their options during the close season. Alan Pardew will be keen to stamp his own mark on Palace having joined in January and with funds available discussions will now take place to help identify key areas for investment. Despite a strong finish by Yannick Bolasie, Wilfried Zaha and Glenn Murray Palace are lacking a top quality centre-forward. With Yaya Sanogo returning to Arsenal and Dwight Gayle plus Fraizer Campbell failing to convince, a striker must feature prminently on the Palace wish list if Pardew hopes to build upon this season’s success.

Crystal Palace ended their season on a winning note, as a goal by Marouane Chamakh would make the difference in a 1-0 win over Swansea City.

It was rather even between the two sides in most statistical categories like possession and chances, but it was Palace who were able to break through for the game's lone goal. It came in the 57th minute when Jason Puncheon sent a free kick into the box, Scott Dann headed it across the face of goal, and Chamakh was able to control it with his chest and smash it home. Swansea didn't have a strong midfield and it made it easy on the Eagles defense. After a four game losing streak that ended earlier in the month, Palace finish strong (10th place) with wins over Liverpool and Swansea.

Marouane Chamakh and Frazier Campbell have both returned to the squad ahead of the Week 36 visit of Manchester United.

With both United and Palace struggling mightily over the past three weeks, the returning forward duo could have parts to play in the match. Neither is likely to start given that they've both been out of action since February but with goals at a premium for both sides Alan Pardew could see the potential to pull out a late goal from one of these two. Neither is worth a fantasy investment given the uncertainty but both are worth monitoring for the final two weeks.

Marouane Chamakh is one of three Crystal Palace strikers currently sidelined because of a hamstring problem after Alan Pardew confirmed the Moroccan would be out for around two weeks.

Chamakh was injured during the build-up to last weekends’ game and missed the opportunity to face his former employers at Selhurst Park after a scan confirmed a grade one tear – a similar injury to the one suffered by team mate Yaya Sanogo – both players are expected to return for the Queens Park Rangers match in GW29. Glenn Murray and Dwight Gayle could lead the line at West Ham although Shola Ameobi is an option - Fraizer Campbell has been ruled out [for up to 6 weeks]. The Eagles will welcome back James McArthur for the trip to the Boleyn Ground while Pardew also confirmed captain Mile Jedinak had trained fully this week but a place in starting eleven is no gimme with Jordon Mutch impressing recently.

Crystal Palace striker Marouane Chamakh broke his nose against Everton but has a chance of featuring against Leicester City.

Chamakh has been performing well under Alan Pardew and may well be risked against Leicester, although he will need to wear a protective mask. If the striker fails to make it then Yaya Sanogo will likely play the lone forward role with Jordan Mutch or Dwight Gayle in support.

Alan Pardew lost his first game since taking charge at Crystal Palace as Everton left Selhurst Park with all three points ending the Eagles’ four game winning streak but it was the loss of striker Marouane Chamakh which stole the headlines.

Chamakh was making his first Premier League start since mid-December having recently recovered from a hamstring strain and the Moroccan was hoping to add the two goals he scored in last weekends' FA Cup win at St Marys’. However the forwards afternoon was ended early following a clash of heads and he was stretchered off after just 25 minutes an injury which was later confirmed as a broken nose – and not concussion – meaning a return in game week 24 against Leicester is possible. However should Chamakh fail to recover in time then Pardew will have a number of attacking options with Dwight Gayle, Glenn Murray, Fraizer Campbell and Yaya Sanogo all able to lead the line.

Crystal Palace's Emirates strike force combined for three goals as they came back from 2-1 down to beat third place Southampton in the FA Cup.

First it was former Arsenal forward Marouane Chamakh drawing Crystal Palace even at 1-1. Southampton regained the lead via a Scott Danny own goal for a 2-1 lead after 16 minutes. Five minutes later it was Arsenal loanee Yaya Sanogo who scored to equalize at two. Incredibly, Chamakh ended the scoring in the 39th minute with his second of the game. A great result for Alan Pardew as his winning streak continued since his appointment as Palace manager, it was his second 3-2 comeback win on the road in as many weekends.

Neil Warnock will need to wait a little longer to discover the full extent of the hamstring injury suffered by Marouane Chamakh during Saturdays’ home draw with Stoke City.

The Moroccan striker limped off because a thigh problem with only fifteen minutes remaining and although a scan proved inconclusive Warnock has ruled Chamakh out of this weekends’ match. Tests highlighted an issue with the muscle although it is unclear whether the mark was from an existing tear or a new one – the player will have another scan when the injury has had a chance to "calm down." The Eagles face a difficult trip to the Etihad in the early kick-off on Saturday and manager Neil Warnock will need to decide whether Fraizer Campbell or Dwight Gayle – who has disappointed of late – will lead the line.

Marouane Chamakh is out for at least a week with a hamstring injury.

Joe Ledley has recovered from a strain midweek but Chamakh won't be able to make the Burnley match. Dwight Gayle has also recovered and is a good option this week as he looks to build upon his four goals this season against one of the worst teams in the league - Burnley. No other big injuries at Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace have signed striker Kevin Doyle on a four month loan.

The Republic of Ireland international will challenge Marouane Chamakh, Dwight Gayle and Fraizer Campbell for a starting spot at Crystal Palace but the team have struggled in all aspects of the game and Doyle doesn't seem to be worth a roster spot in most fantasy formats. He has previous Premier League experience but we don't anticipate that to help too much in this situation.

Marouane Chamakh scored a good goal, but Crystal Palace were well beaten by West Ham at Selhurst Park.

One thing Palace were renowned for last season was their defensively solidity, but that was nowhere to be seen against the Hammers. They were completely outplayed in the first half, and were eventually beaten 3-1 despite a good strike by Chamakh. The Eagles have lost their first two games and desperately need a new manager before a poor start to the season becomes a crisis.

Sky Sports are reporting that Marouane Chamakh will sign a new two-year deal with Crystal Palace.

Chamakh didn't score many goals for Palace last season, but his work rate under Tony Pulis was vital for the tactical system to work, and the club have been keen to extend the striker's contract before it ends on 31 July. The Moroccan has been linked with QPR and French side Bordeaux during the summer, but Sky Sports appear confident a deal with the Eagles has already been done and is due to be announced within the next 24 hours.
