Manchester City have completed the signing of Spanish international striker Alvaro Negredo from Sevilla.
So while all the reports over the past week had suggested Stevan Jovetic was on the verge of joining City, it is in fact Negredo who replaces Carlos Tevez at the Etihad for a fee of £21.7million. Negredo scored 25 La Liga goals last season, behind only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, and will add some significant fire-power to Manuel Pellegrini's squad. Will City still move for Jovetic? The reports suggest they intend to, which would leave them with the most potent striking options (Negredo, Jovetic, Aguero, Dzeko) in Europe. Fri, Jul 19, 2013 06:58:00 AM

Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido has revealed that striker Alvaro Negredo is close to wrapping up his transfer to Manchester City.

So while all the reports over the past week had suggested Stevan Jovetic was on the verge of joining City, it appears Negredo is the man to replace Carlos Tevez at the Etihad. Negredo scored 25 Primera Division goals last season, behind only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, and would add some significant fire-power to Manuel Pellegrini's squad. Will City still move for Jovetic? Do they need both strikers when they already have Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko at their disposal? Well, money certainly isn't a problem, but it could mean Dzeko is also heading for the exit.

Manchester City are on the verge of sealing the £28million signing of Fiorentina star Stevan Jovetic.

So 23-year-old Jovetic looks set to be the man to replace Carlos Tevez, with reports suggesting the two clubs have finally agreed an initial fee of £23m that could rise by £5m in bonus payments. The Montenegrin can play either as an out-an-out striker or as a traditional number 10 behind the main forward, and the report also notes that Manuel Pellegrini wants an additional striker to fill the void left by Mario Balotelli. This is unlikely to be target Alvaro Negredo after Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido warned there is now only a ‘one per cent’ chance of a deal going through.

Manuel Pellegrini could land his first blow against title rivals Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal as City prepare to wrap up the signing of Fiorentina forward Stevan Jovetic.

23-year-old Jovetic looks set to be the man to replace Carlos Tevez with reports suggesting his agent Fali Ramadani is in negotiations with City. It will take around £27million to seal a deal for the Montenegrin, who can play either as an out-an-out striker or as a traditional number 10 behind the main forward. Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo is also linked to a move to the Etihad Stadium this summer.

Reports suggest Manchester City are eyeing a move for Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini is in the market for a new striker after selling Carlos Tevez to Juventus last month but seems to have given up hope of signing first choice Edison Cavani due to the asking price set by Napoli. Negredo scored 25 goals for Sevilla last season but is set to leave after his club failed to qualify for any European competition. Atletico Madrid are also interested but Sky Sports believe City are now leading the race for the striker.

Fluminense have played down talk linking Brazil striker Fred with a move to Manchester City, saying: "He is very happy."

City are in the market for a new striker having sold Carlos Tevez to Juventus and 29-year old Fred is one of several names to be linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium. After a terrific Confederations Cup tournament Fred was bound to be linked to a number of the biggest teams in Europe, but his current club have stated categorically they he will be staying in Brazil. Fred however, suggested he "will only leave the club if there is a really great offer", which suggests big money could turn his head.

After passing a medical, Carlos Tevez signed a three-year contract with Italian giants Juventus.

Tevez will be missed by fans of his all-action style, and by fantasy managers for his consistent performance in the Premier League - from West Ham, to Manchester United, and finally Manchester City.

Juventus and Manchester City have agreed a 10 million (rising to 12) pound transfer fee for Carlos Tevez. He will undergo a medical and discuss personal terms with the Turin club today.

Juventus have been bemoaning their lack of finishing prowess for several seasons now. With Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente signed, that worry should be a thing of the past. For Manchester City this puts more of the burden on David Silva, Samir Nasri, Jesus Navas, and most importantly Sergio Aguero. It could also clear a space for the likes of Isco, or another big-name transfer.

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani claims the Italian outfit have no plans to make a move for Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez.

The "Tevez to Milan" rumours have been running all summer and they were triggered by Galliani himself hinting that the Argentine frontman would be of interest to his club. It does seem possible that Tevez could be leaving the club this summer if he does not sign a contract extension soon and one would assume that Milan will be interested, despite this denial.

Manchester City have refused to meet the 63m euros (£53.6millon) buyout clause for Edinson Cavani, Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has revealed.

Although City are currently refusing to pay the asking price, expect this story to run throughout the summer while the two clubs haggle over the fee. Cavani is City's number one target - and money isn't a real problem for the club's Abu Dhabi-based owners - so if they want him they will probably get him. If Cavani was to arrive at the Etihad Stadium then Carlos Tevez could find himself heading for the exit door, with AC Milan keen on the Argentinian striker.

Manuel Pellegrini is set to be confirmed as Manchester City boss in the next 24 hours – and his first job will be to decide Carlos Tevez’s future, report the Daily Mirror.

It's been a long time coming, but the delay in Pellegrini's appointment has not prevented the club from bringing new players in and tying existing squad members to longer contracts. The one man who has alluded them thus far is Carlos Tevez, but with his contract ending in 2014 the hierarchy need him to make a decision and they will be hoping Pellegrini can force the issue.

Manchester City have reportedly offered £20million plus Carlos Tevez for Milan's young striker Stephan El Shaarawy.

La Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting this story and it makes sense in theory as Milan are interested in Tevez, City want El Shaarawy, and Tevez's contract is coming to an end in 2014 - but swap deals rarely happen due to the complicated nature of modern day transfers. It does however seem possible that Tevez could be leaving the club this summer if he does not sign a contract extension soon.

The Daily Mirror report that Liverpool have Carlos Tevez of Manchester City on their shopping list of potential replacements for Luis Suarez.

If Liverpool decide to allow Suarez to join Real Madrid this summer then Carloz Tevez would seem like the perfect replacement, and on paper he should form a good partnership with Daniel Sturridge. Whether Manchester City would be willing to sell Tevez to a Premier League rival is another matter altogether, but the Argentine is entering the final year of his contract so City must do something or they risk losing him on a free transfer in July 2014.

The Daily Mail report that Juventus will step up efforts to sign Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez if they fail to prise Arsenal and Chelsea target Stevan Jovetic away from Fiorentina.

Tevez is entering the final year of his contract at Manchester City so if he does not intend to sign an extension they will want to cash in rather then letting him leave for free next season. The article also states that the club are willing to listen to offers for Javi Garcia, Edin Dzeko and Joleon Lescott. If Dzeko and Tevez both leave then Pelligrini will want to add two more strikers to the squad.

Manchester City's chief executive, Ferran Soriano, has revealed talks would take place with Carlos Tevez and Gareth Barry – two "very good players" entering the last year of their contracts.

Tevez was strongly rumoured to be looking for a move towards the end of Roberto Mancini's reign but the Argentinian forward may be reconsidering with Pelligrini reportedly coming in. If Sergio Aguero is also staying this would suggest City will only be looking for one new striker this summer, with Edison Cavani repeatedly linked. Meanwhile, Gareth Barry has become an important squad member at the Etihad so it's little surprise that he is to be offered a new deal.
