Alou Diarra has left West Ham United by mutual consent.
Diarra only made six appearances for the Hammers before he was loaned out to Rennes in the 2012/13 season. He improved on that mark in 2013/14 season by increasing his appearances to eight. As you can see, Diarra hasn't been able to crack the first team at West Ham and the two sides have agreed to terminate his contract with immediate effect. We don't anticipate that Diarra will stay in the Premier League and if he does, he isn't likely to be a starter nor a fantasy option. Sat, Jul 12, 2014 11:36:00 AM

West Ham chose to play a mixture of first team players and reserves in what ended up as an embarrassing 5-0 loss to Nottingham Forest.

The Hammers have conceded 15 goals in their last 5 games and have on of the worst defenses in the Premier League right now, partially because of a series of injuries that have troubled the club. Alou Diarra started at center-back once again and could be used as a reserve in fantasy considering his extremely low price of £1.64M. I would feel good using Jordon Mutch next weekend in his match against West Ham.

Alou Diarra has recovered from a torn ACL to make an incredible comeback for West Ham.

Diarra tore his ACL in late August and was expected to miss the entire season but he played the full match today, just four months after the injury. Diarra played in the West Ham defense as he filled in for the numerous missing players in the Hammers' back line. He is probably not a good fantasy contributor as of now but his cheap price makes him an acceptable bench option.

West Ham midfielder Alou Diarra has a torn ACL(anterior cruciate ligament) and will require reconstructive surgery.

Diarra will probably be out for the entire season, as an ACL tear usually takes several months to recover from. Diarra has been mostly on the bench this season, so nothing should really change in the West Ham starting lineup and their fantasy contributors should not be influenced by this injury.
