Norwich City announced that Gary Hooper has been loaned to Championship side Sheffield Wednesday through January 17.
The forward has only made two Premier League appearances for the club this season, each coming as as a late-game substitute. Hooper recently recovered an ankle injury that has kept him out for the past month. With Dieumerci Mbokani, Cameron Jerome and Lewis Grabban ahead of him, playing time would have been scarce for the 27-year-old. Tue, Oct 27, 2015 02:42:00 PM

Norwich have reignited their interest in Dynamo Kiev striker Dieumerci Mbokani after the club slashed their initial valuation…

We know Norwich boss Alex Neil likes a bargain. The haggling over the price of Robbie Brady dragged on for weeks – although Norwich paid Hull’s £7 million valuation in the end. But Neil has his poker face on again, trying to secure the services of DR Congo international striker Dieumerci Mbokani. Norwich lodged an opening bid of £4.3m, which Dynamo Kiev dismissed valuing the 29-year-old at £8.5m. At that point the deal seemed dead, with Alex Neil picking up his chips and leaving the table. But Kiev chief Sergei Rebrov has since dropped the price to £6m, suggesting an agreement can be reached. Mbokani scored 13 goals in his first season with Kiev, following his £7.7m transfer from Anderlecht. But failed to hold down a first team spot last season and is keen to try his luck in the Premier League.

Norwich manager Alex Neil leaves a string of big-hitters on the bench for the final friendly before the business gets under way for real…

Several expected first choice starters were left out for the final friendly v Brentford. The Championship side who only narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League themselves, will provide solid opposition in the final tune up for the real business gets underway. But new loan signing from Liverpool Andre Wisdom was left on the bench with last season’s star performers Cameron Jerome, Alex Tettey and Nathan Redmond. Strikers Ricky van Wolfswinkel and Gary Hooper were left out completely. New signing Robbie Brady starts at left-back in a 4-4-1-1 formation with Wes Hoolahan in the ‘number 10’ role behind lone striker Lewis Grabban.

Norwich are the latest Premier League team to be linked with a move to for Chelsea starlet Patrick Bamford…

The highly 20-year-old is yet to make a senior appearance for Chelsea but is attracting PL admirers after impressive loan spells at MK Dons, Derby County and Middlesbrough. Norwich boss Alex Neil is reported to be keen on securing Bamford on a season-long loan as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season. This could push striker Gary Hooper closer to the exit door. The 27-year-old former Scunthorpe and Celtic striker started just 16 matches last season – although contributed an excellent 12 goals. But played second fiddle to Cameron Jerome and Lewis Grabban and would be pushed further down the pecking order if the proposed move for Bamford comes to fruition.

Gary Hooper came off in the second half of the weekend's match against Manchester United with a suspected hamstring injury. However, the precaution worked and he's fine to face Crystal Palace.

Norwich City don't travel well, but will be boosted by Hooper's availability for the match. He's scored five in eight and will be key to keeping Norwich out of relegation danger. Crystal Palace can leag-frog the Canaries with a win on New Year's Day.

Gary Hooper added to his account today with the opening goal, his 5th in the last seven games for Norwich City, but the Canaries coughed up the lead and gave up the match winner late on as they played to a disappointing 1-2 loss to Fulham.

Hooper's goal was rather freakish and he may be lucky to have been given credit for it, as the shot took a massive deflection off the boot of Aaron Hughes and sent the ball careening past a defenseless David Stockdale. Norwich could not muster much from there as Fulham's attack kept the pressure on the Canaries defense until they leveled and eventually surpassed them. Hosting Fulham is supposed to be medicine for any struggling attack so the lack of punch Norwich showed today does not speak well toward investing in them outside of Hooper right now.

Norwich City were able to earn a point after falling behind early thanks to a goal from Gary Hooper as the Canaries drew with Swansea City 1-1.

Just as Ricky van Wolfswinkel works his way back to match fitness, Gary Hooper is making a statement that he should be the first choice striker for Chris Hughton's side. His strike today makes four goals in the last 6 league games and he is edging his way into the conversation as a 3rd forward in fantasy. The goal was from distance and extremely accurate, a 25 yards volley that scorched the top left corner of the net. With three of the next four contests against the bottom three clubs in the table, Hooper has a great opportunity to keep his form up.

Gary Hooper is finally healthy and has made a significant contribution to Norwich's campaign with the lone goal against Crystal Palace.

Norwich City have been poor thus far this season but they got the required three points on offer with the visit of even poorer Crystal Palace. Gary Hooper turned home Wes Hoolahan's pass from just above the six yard box in the 30th minute and the Canaries held on to move up to 14th in the table at least temporarily. It was hardly a win with style but Norwich will take points however they can get them at this point.

Norwich manager Chris Hughton announced that striker Gary Hooper is not available for the Canaries' trip to Hull City this weekend.

Hooper bruised his shin in a pre-season friendly against Panathanaikos. After missing last week's opener it was hoped that he would be ready for the weekend, but he hasn't returned to training yet. Ricky van Wolfswinkel will continue as a lone front-man, and Leroy Fer, available again after suspension, may play in the hole behind the Dutchman.

Gary Hooper, who was stretched off in Norwich's friendly against Panathanaikos, has bruising on his leg, but no break or other long-term damage.

Hooper will be a doubt, at best, for Norwich's season opener against Everton. But he will return sooner rather than later to challenge - and/or partner - record-signing Ricky van Wolfswinkel.

Norwich beat Greek side Panathaniakos 2-0, but lost new signing Gary Hooper early to a shin injury.

Hooper has looked good in pre-season, and started this match ahead of fellow newcomer Ricky van Wolfswinkel. A serious injury would put a real dent in manager Chris Hughton's plans for the new season.
