Striker Stevan Jovetic is back in contention for Manchester City after recovering from the thigh injury which he picked up during training while on international duty with Montenegro at the beginning of September.
The return of Jovetic provides a welcome boost for Pellegrini as City approach a busy footballing period [after the international break] both domestically and across Europe which will see them play 7 games within 21 days easing pressure on his attacking teammates. Having suffered from a number of muscular issues throughout 2014 Sergio Aguero needs to be managed carefully leaving Edin Dzeko as the only other recognised striker within the first team squad; although youngster Jose Angel Pozo did impress during the Capital One Cup recently and won’t be far from a league debut if he continues in the same rich vein of form. Stevan Jovetic has been ruled out of Manchester City's squad with a hamstring injury.

With Jovetic out, Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero are likely to both start. Although it's hard to recommend players with an away fixture at the Emirates, we must note that Sergio Aguero is a world class striker capable of scoring in any stadium. If you start anyone from City, let it be Aguero.

Stevan Jovetic looks set to miss his country’s opening Euro 2016 qualifying tie against Moldova after suffering a suspected hamstring injury in training on Saturday.

The Manchester City striker has started this season well with two goals in his opening three games and was the preferred strike partner to Sergio Aguero keeping Edin Dzeko on the bench in his clubs last league game. Since his arrival from Fiorentina last summer the Montenegro international has seen his game limited by a variety of injuries which restricted him to just two starts and three goals during 2013/14 but with a solid preseason under his belt the early signs have been promising for the man who arrived with a big reputation. Stevan Jovetic is now considered a major doubt for Saturday’s early kick-off against Arsenal at The Emirates.

Nik Argiropoulos believes Stevan Jovetic will continue his excellent start to the season against Stoke in Week 3.

The striker displayed his class against Liverpool in Week 2, grabbing a brace to back-up the superb performance put in throughout pre-season. In this form Jovetic will be a starter for the foreseeable future and he can be added to your Yahoo team for almost half the cost of Sergio Aguero.

Stevan Jovetic scored the first two goals of the match and then made way for Sergio Aguero who sealed it with a third.

Manchester City looked every bit the defending champions as they beat up last season's runners up Liverpool 3-1 at the Etihad. Pablo Zabaleta was credited with an own goal late but otherwise City had their way with Liverpool. Consider the first volley in the title race fired with City looking legitimate while Liverpool will have to hope their new arrivals continue to gel as they play and train together.

Rarely recommended last season, but Stevan Jovetic is high on Nik Argiropoulos' list of players to focus on in Week 1.

Manchester City's forgotten man at times last season but Jovetic will need to stand-up in the absence of the injured Alvaro Negredo and with Aguero not fully fit. He's been in excellent form in pre-season, scoring goals for fun, and is priced at an absolute bargain at under £6million for his side's trip to Newcastle.

Stevan Jovetic bagged a brace but Liverpool beat Manchester City in a pre-season friendly at Yankee Stadium.

Liverpool came from behind twice to draw 2-2 in normal time before winning a penalty shoot-out 3-1. However, the biggest news is the superb pre-season form of Jovetic. The striker picked up the man of the match award against AC Milan last week after scoring twice and grabbed two more goals against Liverpool, suggesting he's ready to have a more fluent season for Manchester City. With Alvaro Negredo out injured for the next few months and Sergio Aguero still nursing recurring hamstring and groin problems, he'll be needed. Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson grabbed Liverpool's goals.

Manchester City got their International Champions Cup campaign off to a flying start with an impressive 5-1 win over AC Milan at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.

It's only a friendly tournament, but this was an impressive performance by Manuel Pellegrini's men against a strong AC Milan side. Stevan Jovetic was the star, scoring twice and picking up the man of the match award. With Alvaro Negredo out injured for the next few months and Sergio Aguero still nursing recurring hamstring and groin problems, Jovetic will be expected to step up and play a more prominent role this season, and he's got his pre-season off to a flying start. Scott Sinclair continued his decent form with another pre-season goal, while Jesus Navas and Kelechi Iheanacho added the others.

Stevan Jovetic is determined to prove his worth to Manchester City next season.

Jovetic's season was a fractured affair due to numerous injuries, but he managed to show his quality on the few occasions he was fit enough to take to the pitch. The forward hit six goals including some important strikes in both the league and cups, and he'll be hoping that a full pre-season will leave him ready to play a bigger part in Manchester City's 2014-15 campaign.

Manchester City were held goalless for the second consecutive match, this time at the expense of Norwich City, as the Canaries were able to eke out a point in a 0-0 final.

Stevan Jovetic was handed a rare start but could not capitalize along with his teammates on a match where goals were expected after failing to score last time out against Chelsea. The Sky Blues created some opportunities but no individual could step up and put the finishing touch on things. Alvaro Negredo also started and Edin Dzeko saw action as a substitute but the absence of Sergio Aguero is beginning to be felt. They return to the Etihad midweek to host Sunderland.

Stevan Jovetic's agent insists that the Manchester City striker has settled into life in England, despite suggestions he could be set a return to Italy in January.

Injuries have restricted Jovetic to just three Premier League appearances for Manuel Pellegrini's side so far this season and he's fallen way behind Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo in the pecking order for a starting place. He can still play an important part for City as the fixtures come thick and fast over the holiday period but he needs to focus on staying fit if he has any hope of a regular starting role.

Manuel Pellegrini says Vincent Kompany, David Silva and Stevan Jovetic will not be fit to face Tottenham on Sunday. However, Matija Nastasic and Fernandinho are available.

This is not unexpected news, with Kompany and Silva likely to be out for another couple of weeks, while Jovetic has struggled for fitness all season. Nastasic should partner Martin Demichelis at the back and Fernandinho will be expect to slot in next to Yaya Toure at the base of City's midfield.

Manchester City attacker Stevan Jovetic only lasted ten minutes in today's League Cup tie against Newcastle United. Jovetic, with what looked like a calf injury, was replaced by Alvaro Negredo.

Jovetic was unlikely to be a factor in their league match against Norwich, but his injury plus the fact that Sergio Aguero was rested completely, surely point to the Argentinian getting a full run-out against the Canaries this weekend.

Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic insists he has no regrets about his move to England.

It's been a slow start for Jovetic so far, but that has mainly been down to a lack of fitness after missing a large chunk of pre-season. The striker believes he is close to his peak now, so he'll be hoping for some more game time, despite the impressive form of Sergio Aguero and new signing Alvaro Negredo.

Manchester City's £22m striker Stevan Jovetic scored his first goals for the club to help Manuel Pellegrini's side to an emphatic 5-0 Capital One Cup win over Wigan.

City kept up the momentum gained from the Manchester derby with another comfortable victory, and Jovetic will be delighted to have opened his goal account after fellow signing Alvaro Negredo had made such a positive start to his own City career. Pellegrini took the opportunity to rest key players such as Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany but still had the quality of Yaya Toure, Edin Dzeko and Jesus Navas to add further goals.
