Victor Wanyama scored one of the season's most impressive goals as a crazy finish would see Tottenham escape Anfield with a 2-2 draw against Liverpool.
In a pivotal match with Champions League implications, Tottenham will feel very fortunate to take a draw today. For the majority of the match, they were the inferior side, giving up the opening goal inside three minutes due to an Eric Dier mistake. The attack began to make more noise in the second half than the first and the defense gave them a chance to equalize by keeping it 1-0 until the 80th minute. That is when Wanyama struck a ball that was punched away by Loris karius perfectly from range, singing the top corner of the net. The game got nuts from there, with a penalty chance by Kane to win it blocked by Karius, then a goal given away put Spurs behind in stoppage time. However, another penalty was given in the final moments and Kane converted for his 100th career PL goal. Feb 4 - 1:47 PM

Victor Wanyama will not join up with his international teammates as he struggles to shake off a niggling knee injury.

The midfield enforcer was absent from today’s match-day 18 due to a "minor problem" which will be assessed over the next 48 hours. Wanyama damaged cartilage in his knee against Paris Saint-Germain during preseason, an injury which resulted in him starting on the bench at Newcastle on the opening day. However, following a full week of training, Pochettino handed the 26-year-old a start in game week two - versus Chelsea – but even though he managed 90 minutes, Wanyama didn’t appear to be moving freely. His omission from the squad taking on Burnley saw Eric Dier sit alongside Mousa Dembele in a 4-2-3-1 but Spurs failed to ditch their Wembley hoodoo after the Clarets grabbed an injury time equaliser with new boy Chris Wood scoring on his Premier League debut.

Victor Wanyama has emerged as an early for doubt for the trip to Newcastle on the opening weekend.

The midfield enforcer has been sidelined since "he suffered a small problem in his cartilage in his left knee" against Paris Saint Germain seven days ago. Although the problem is not thought to be serious, Mauricio Pochettino explained that he was unable to give any guarantees on his availability until the player returns to the training pitches: "But sure, for next week, he will be available to train again. Will he be okay for the start of the Premier League? We hope yes but we need to see how he develops and how he is next week when we come back to London." Tottenham were well beaten by their league counterparts Manchester City [3-0] during the early hours of Saturday morning, although admittedly, and more importantly, it was only a friendly: "You need to understand that Harry Winks was injured and is getting fit. Mousa Dembele is the same," Pochettino said post-match.

Victor Wanyama was shaken up after a collision with Burnley's Ashley Barnes and was unable to continue with what looks to be a lower back injury.

Wanyama attempted to carry on initially, receiving treatment that included a cooling spray to his back, but after a couple of minute back in action, he needed to call it a day. Mousa Dembele, somewhat of a surprise omission from the starting XI, came on to replace him. To make matters worse for Spurs, Harry Winks was also injured just before halftime, taking the worst of an attempted tackle of Stephen Ward before crashing near the bench. Moussa Sissoko has come on to replace him in what is a goalless affair at halftime.

Tottenham one opportunity after another pass them by for the majority of the match but they finally broke through late on with a Victor Wanyama goal to defeat Crystal Palace, 1-0.

Tottenham threatened continuously throughout this match, but were frustrated time an again as their buildups would break down in the final third and their attempts failed to hit the target. Vincent Janssen made his first PL start, favored to Dele Alli, and looked particularly sharp, but it looked like it would not be Spurs day when Alli came on as a substitute in the latter stages of the match, immediately teed Janssen up and the shot sailed wide of the mark. They finally burst Palace's bubble in the 83rd minute though, when an Erik Lamela corner was headed by Harry Kane into the path of Wanyama, and the Kenyan fired it home. It was three deserved points for Tottenham but it was a tough path to get there.

After a couple of weeks of strong speculation, Victor Wanyama has officially departed from Southampton and joins Tottenham for a fee of about £11m.

Spurs get some early business done in the summer and get the man they have been pursuing since last offseason. Wanyama is a midfield enforcer, the type of player Mauricio Pochettino likes, so much so that it is the second time the manager has bought the Kenyan. Pochettino brought Wanyama to St. Mary's from Celtic back in 2013 in a season where the Saints achieved great success. Wanyama has little to offer in fantasy terms. Even in leagues that award for stats such as successful tackles, Wanyama has discipline issues and virtually no attacking threat. With a spot in Champions League, Pochettino now has flexibility with Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele and Wanyama in defensive midfield, though, with Dembele spending the first several weeks of the season on suspension, Wanyama should be starting straight away alongside Dier.

Tottenham is set to hold more talks this week to finalize a summer transfer for Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama.

The two sides are reportedly in negotiations over an £11 million move for the 24-year-old. Southampton reportedly want to recoup the £12.5 million they spent in 2013 to bring the Wanyama to the St Mary's from Celtic, but with only one year left on his current contract, the club won't want to risk losing him on a free transfer next summer after the Kenyan rejected the offer of a new contract. After losing Ronald Koeman to Everton, Southampton will be reluctant to finally lose Wanyama after flirting with a move to rejoin former manager Mauricio Pochettino over the past year.

After failing to acquire him from Southampton last summer, Tottenham are once again in hot pursuit of midfielder Victor Wanyama.

Spurs were willing to swap a wide man for Wanyama last summer, dangling Andros Townsend and Erik Lamela as potential bait, but the Saints were perhaps holding a grudge after Tottenham swooped in and plucked Toby Alderweireld from their grasp after a contract snafu. With Mousa Dembele beginning the season on suspension and Champions League football in store, Spurs are looking to bolster their midfield options and Wanyama should get adequate playing time though Dembele and Eric Dier look poised to be the preferred duo in the middle. Wanyama is a card magnet so Mauricio Pochettino should be able to rotate him in and out while keeping everyone happy. With only 12 months left on his contract, the Saints may feel ready to do business with Spurs again and cash in on the Kenyan.

Wanyama scored for Kenya in their friendly match against Tanzania.

Wanyama had a solid season for Southampton but he is not on penalty duty in the Premier League and his fantasy value remains extremely low. He is a better on-pitch performer than a fantasy contributor, and this doesn't seem likely to change going forward. Avoid him in standard leagues.

Noble wants West Ham to keep up their unbeaten record of 15 home Premier League matches in a row.

West Ham are leaving the Boleyn Ground after this season and Noble wants the exit to be a special one. Finishing off the season with such a streak of unbeaten home matches would be a special gift for the fans and with West Ham fighting for a top six spot, you can play their players safely at the end of the season without risk of a rest.

Southampton pulled together in remarkable fashion to pull out a 1-0 win against West Ham while playing the final 36 minutes of the match a man down.

Victor Wanyama was sent off with a straight red card in the 54th minute for a mindless challenge from behind on Dimtri Payet after losing possession in midfield. The Kenyan was given his marching orders for the third time this season, but Southampton tightened up at the back in its 3-5-2 formation to hold on for the win, which brings the club into seventh in the table. Maya Yoshida contributed the winner in the ninth minute after Wanyama poked a pass toward the center of the box in the ninth minute. Meanwhile, Southampton has now recorded five straight Premier League clean sheets since Fraser Forster's return

Victor Wanyama will serve a one-match ban during Southampton's FA Cup match against Crystal Palace.

Wanyama was sent off for getting a second yellow on Saturday against Norwich City, but he won't miss any Premier League time because the suspension will be served in the FA Cup. He could, however, face some time on the bench because Ronald Koeman wasn't very happy with his decision making this weekend. Keep an eye out for his status.

Southampton continued its struggle since that 4-0, seemingly momentum-shifting win against Arsenal with a second straight defeat in a 1-0 loss to Norwich City.

The loss is Southampton's fourth in the last five Premier League matches, dropping the club to 13th in the table with only one goal spread across those four defeats. It is Wanyama who will likely take the brunt of the blame after making a rash challenge on Alexander Tettey while on a yellow card. The tackle led to Wanyama's sending off in the 73rd minute with a second yellow. Just three minutes later, Tettey scored the only goal of the match that left Saints without a point from their trip to Carrow Road. In team news, Sadio Mane was benched just before game-time after arriving late to a pre-match meeting as the winger had to come on as a second-half sub.

Victor Wanyama is questionable for Southampton's upcoming match after picking up an injury against Aston Villa.

Wanyama hurt his ankle and was "struggling" according to Ronald Koeman. The midfielder has struggled with ankle injuries before so it's definitely a concern and his status should be monitored going forward. He can safely be dropped all but the deepest of leagues.

Victor Wanyama is deemed ready to start at Southampton after numerous rumors kept him out last week.

Wanyama is finally "mentally and physically" to feature for Southampton again after rumors and an illness kept him out last week. The defensive midfielder should be a set starter for the remainder of the season as long as he's healthy but his lack of goalscoring and offensive stats keep him low on the fantasy rankings. Use him in only the deepest of leagues.
