Burnley took a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Swansea City, making it ten league games on the trot without a win.
The Clarets still set as "best of the rest" outside of the league's top six, but it is starting to look like another side punching above their weight in the season's first half only to come back down to Earth in the second. Once again, the defense was their strong suit, and kept them in the game until the end, but the attack was poor by their conservative standards. What little threat they had came through the middle, with Aaron Lennon and Johann Berg Gudmundsson seeing very little activity on the outside. Matt Taylor put in another fine shift, shutting down Swansea's right flank, but his attempted crosses lacked quality as Burnley would finish without a single shot on target. Stephen Ward made the squad for the first time after a long injury spell and it will be interesting to monitor if or when Dyche will start him over Taylor. Feb 10 - 12:12 PM

Matt Taylor will not be available for Burnley this weekend as they get set to host Sunderland due to an Achilles issue.

Sean Dyche has bigger worries up top after losing Danny Ings to injury in last weekend's draw with Crystal Palace, but Taylor was brought in over the summer to add some top flight experience to the promoted side. The Clarets luckily have a natural option to replace Taylor as deadline day signing George Boyd will step into the wide left midfield role.

Matthew Taylor has been signed by Burnley to a two-year contract after West Ham released him on a free transfer.

The 32 year old veteran ends a three year spell at Boleyn Ground where he made 20 appearances in the league last season. He has a chance to receive considerable pitch time with the promoted club as long as he performs to Burnley's expectations. He has spent the majority of his career playing on the left but showed competence when given a central midfield role last year. His versatility should come in handy for Burnley.

Matthew Taylor has been enjoying his new role as a central midfielder in West Ham's rotation.

Taylor usually plays left-back or left-mid but has been recently been playing in the central part of midfield and is enjoying his new role. His fantasy production has been mediocre at best, so I would avoid him until something changes. West Ham have four wins and a draw in their last six games and have separated themselves from the relegation zone.
