Crystal Palace have accepted a bid for out-of-favour striker Dwight Gayle from Bristol City, thought to be in the region of £6 million pounds…
The writing has been on the wall for Dwight Gayle for a while. The arrival of Patrick Bamford and Connor Wickham in the summer relegated the 24-year-old striker to 4th, possibly 5th in the pecking order. Glenn Murray spearheaded a 4-5-1 formation in their opening match at Norwich, with Bamford and Gayle unused substitutes. Such is the strength in depth at Palace now that Yannick Bolasie was also benched, with Wilfried Zaha (a goal) and Jason Puncheon (an assist) providing attacking thrust from wide. Bristol City are yet to speak to Gayle – and he would have to accept a drop in division, of course – but Palace chairman has confirmed a bid has been accepted. The fee is reported to be £6m, which was the same amount Palace paid Peterborough in 2013. Aug 12 - 7:33 AM

Norwich City are monitoring out-of-favor Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle…

It has been a frustrating summer so far for the Canaries, with no major signing to tweet about so far. The deal for Argentine striker Joaquin Larrivey fell through at the last moment and the proposed move for winger Robbie Brady is apparently on hold (Hull want £6m – almost double Norwich boss Alex Neil’s offer). So attention has turned to Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle. The 25-year-old is reported to be ‘anxious’ about game time at Selhurst Park having only started 11 matches last season. And persistent stories about the possible capture of Charlie Austin and Loic Remy can’t be doing his anxiety any good. Norwich could offer a solution and his stock is high at the moment, scoring a hat-trick in a recent friendly at Barnet.

Crystal Palace fought back from 2-0 down against Burnley to win 3-2 in a thrilling match at Turf Moor.

Crystal Palace maintained Alan Pardew's 100% start as manager in the most unlikely circumstances at Turf Moor. The match looked over after just 16 minutes as Ben Mee headed in his first goal for Burnley from Kieran Trippier's corner, before Danny Ings made it 2-0 after Scott Arfield's pass. However, Dwight Gayle made it 2-1 from Wilfried Zaha's cross before Jason Puncheon levelled from 25 yards at the start of the second half. It turned in an end to end battle and it was Gayle who completed the comeback when he controlled Puncheon's deep cross and fired the ball under Tom Heaton. The Eagles move up 12th while Burnley remain one place above the relegation zone.

Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock has urged Dwight Gayle to prove his worth after the striker slipped down the pecking order at Selhurst Park.

24-year-old Gayle has struggled to hold down a starting role for Palace, despite netting six goals in his brief appearances this season. Warnock admits the former Peterborough player has failed to impress in training and was ‘disappointed’ with his contribution as a late substitute in Saturday’s 1-1 home draw with Stoke. The Eagles boss has reiterated his plans to dip in to the transfer in market in January for a proven goal-scorer, and reports suggest his club are interested in Swansea duo Bafetimbi Gomis and Michu.

Dwight Gayle scored a first-half hat-trick as Crystal Palace eased past Walsall and into the third round of the Capital One Cup.

This was a much needed confidence booster for the Eagles, who have lost their first two Premier League games and are continuing to struggle without a manager. Gayle has shown moments of class since signing with the club in the summer of 2013 including a brace of goals to derail Liverpool's title challenge back in May, and his hat-trick last night should earn the striker the opportunity to start against Newcastle in Week 3.

Finding themselves down three goals late in a match with no significant bearing on their season, Crystal Palace shocked Liverpool with three unanswered goals to earn a 3-3 draw and spoil the Reds chances of winning the league title.

Down 0-3 in the 78th minute, nothing short of magic happened at Selhurst Park beginning with a left footed strike from Damien Delaney that found the top corner of net to get the Eagles on the scoresheet. The goal electrified the Palace supporters and Liverpool quickly went from working on cutting into their goal difference against Manchester City to holding on to the three points, but Palace were playing inspired keeping the Reds on their back foot for the remainder of the match. Dwight Gayle placed himself perfectly for two quick goals, first when Yannick Bolasie broke away down the left flank and picked him out, then a few minutes later when Glenn Murray produced a neat chest pass into his path, and Gayle finished strong. It has been a fantastic turnaround season for Palace who were looked at as relegation candidates in the season's first half, and transformed into a club you do not want to see on your schedule. Tony Pulis deserves serious consideration for manager of the season.

Substitute Dwight Gayle hit a superb late winner minute as Crystal Palace best Aston Villa 1-0 at Villa Park.

This is a huge result for Palace, and moves them out of the Premier League bottom three for the first time this season. It was a magnificent goal by Gayle, who is starting to settle in to life at the top level, and the defence stayed solid to ensure victory. This was a fourth straight loss for Villa, who looked toothless upfront (although Guzan was excellent) and the fans are starting to turn on Paul Lambert.

Ian Holloway is understood to be leaving Crystal Palace by mutual consent, according some sources on Twitter.

Palace were always going to struggle in the Premier League after Holloway beat the odds to bring them up via the play-offs last season, but the team have showed a worrying lack of fight so far. After buying 15 new players (very few of whom appear to be of the required quality) it appears the board have decided a change was in the best interest of the club. We await to see if chairman Steve Parish has a replacement lined up already.

Crystal Palace were dominated by Liverpool on Saturday, but Dwight Gayle added his second goal of the season as the Eagles fall 3-1.

A substitute by Ian Holloway at the break, already trailing 3-0, Gayle's goal was from a slight touch of a header coming from a Jose Campana corner in the 76th minute of a match that had been decided an hour ago. It is Gayle's 2nd of the season and the story of his rise to the top flight is one to root for, but his fantasy prospects are dim at best.

Selhurst Park was buzzing as Gabbidon, Gayle (pen), and Stuart O'Keefe scored in Palace's 3-1 victory over Sunderland.

Gayle both earned the penalty that saw John O'Shea sent off and converted it for the winning goal. Stuart O'Keefe came in for Marouane Chamakh and scored an insurance goal late to ensure Palace the three points. All three promoted teams showed well with Hull playing well before capitulating at City and Cardiff earning a point against Everton. It appears that the Premier League new boys will be stronger than predicted in the pre-season.

Dwight Gayle was among the goals as Crystal Palace eased to a 4-0 win against League of Ireland side Waterford United on Saturday.

Gayle has been tipped to make a big impact for Palace in the Premier League and has showed some good form in pre-season. It was an easy win as another summer signing Stephen Dobbie put the Eagles ahead, Gayle grabbed the second while Ibra Sekajja and Osman Sow added the others.
