Darren Fletcher and Chris Brunt scored within six minutes of each other as West Brom continued their strong form with a 2-0 home win over Sunderland.
Winning at home against Sunderland is pretty much expected in the Premier League these days. West Brom made easy work of it scoring twice in the first half through a fantastic Darren Fletcher volley and a rebound from Chris Brunt. Up 2-0 it was fairly easy work as David Moyes' side capitulated yet again. Jan 21 - 2:07 PM

Darren Fletcher injured his leg playing for Scotland over the international break and could be missing for West Brom's match-up with Spurs at the Hawthorns in Week 8.

With a surplus of holding midfielders and fellow Scotsman James Morrison returning from his long hamstring issue, Tony Pulis is relatively well-equipped to deal with the absence of the former Manchester United midfielder. Regardless, Albion and its players should not be considered highly likely to produce much in Week 8 with high-flying Spurs their opponents on Saturday.

West Bromwich Albion midfielder Darren Fletcher sustained a dead leg injury while on international duty with Scotland this week.

The veteran midfielder was subbed off at halftime during Scotland's 1-1 draw with Lithuania in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday and is now a major doubt to face Slovakia on Tuesday. However, his status for the Premier League weekend looks more optimistic. Said Fletcher: "It's a dead leg quite high up. I struggled in the last 10 minutes of the first half and it seized right up when I stopped running at half-time...It's too early to tell if I'll be ready for midweek. I'll have loads of ice on it, but dead legs are the worst in the first few days so we'll see how it goes."

Darren Fletcher scored his first goal of the season and it was good enough to secure West Brom a 1-0 win over Newcastle at the Hawthorns to close out the first half of the season for both sides.

It was a long time coming but West Brom picked up a needed win and a clean sheet to close out the 2015 schedule. It was hardly a work of art and the goal didn't involve the usual suspects with Fletcher scoring his first and Claudio Yacob providing his first assist of the season. Boaz Myhill picked up his first clean sheet since October 24 and the Baggies picked up their first win since their shocking upset of Arsenal in November.

Darren Fletcher scored his first Premier League goal for West Brom but the Baggies couldn't hold off Leicester City who scored in stoppage time to win 3-2 at the Hawthorns.

It isn't like a Tony Pulis team to concede ten goals over three matches but that's what West Brom have done starting in Week 30 and ending with today's loss to Leicester City. Losing to Manchester City, especially down a man, isn't a big shock but conceding 7 goals over two matches to relegation-threatened QPR and Leicester City is a shock. The absence of Ben Foster surely plays some part but even a Foster-less Albion should be able to grind out results against the also-rans of the league. Fantasy managers should be wary of West Brom players until further notice given the club's serious dip in form.

Darren Fletcher has been lauded by Tony Pulis for his influence since arriving at the Hawthorns but his fantasy returns haven't matched his manager's opinion of him.

An increase in playing time and the profile of his role since his move from Old Trafford to the Hawthorns hasn't seen Darren Fletcher's fantasy stock climb much. Unlike teammate Craig Gardner who has been prolific in accumulating defending phantom points like tackles won and passes intercepted, Fletcher has exerted his influence over the improved team without the results showing up in even the more obscure stats. He's one to appreciate given what he's overcome and the role he is playing on an improved team but stay away for fantasy purposes.

With James Morrison requiring an assessment on his knee, newly arrived January signing Darren Fletcher may move immediately into the West Brom starting line-up in Week 24.

It isn't clear what we should expect from Fletcher who has gone through a lot since the time when Sir Alex Ferguson clearly saw a solid future for him at Manchester United. Between aging, he's 31 now, his injury-induced layoff and a lack of significant playing time at Manchester United this season, Fletcher is something of an unknown quantity. James Morrison's knee issue gives Tony Pulis a reasonable opportunity to see what he's got in Fletcher before deciding where Fletcher fits in his pecking order.

West Brom have signed Scotland midfielder Darren Fletcher on a free transfer from Manchester United.

The 31-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract at The Hawthorns with a 12-month option. West Ham were also interested in signing Fletcher, but a move to Upton Park broke down last weekend. Albion failed in deadline day moves to sign West Ham striker Carlton Cole and Norwich defender Martin Olsson, but kept Brown Ideye and Graham Dorrans. Fletcher made 342 appearances for United but started only five times for the club after Louis van Gaal took over as manager in the summer.

Jason Burt of the Telegraph is reporting that Darren Fletcher has been granted a free transfer away from Manchester United. West Ham is a rumored destination.

Darren Fletcher has been linked with a number of potential destinations including West Ham United and West Brom and Manchester United have made the rumored move easier allowing Fletcher to leave on a free. Fletcher has played infrequently since recovering from a long-term bowel issue and is looking for a move away from Old Trafford to secure more regular playing time. West Ham has a solid central midfield group with Alex Song, Mark Noble and Cheikhou Kouyate but Song is only around on loan and Fletcher would be a nice back-up plan should Song not sign a permanent deal at Upton Park.

With a glut of central midfielders at Old Trafford and an expiring contract, Darren Fletcher is a wanted man.

Having recovered from long-term health issues, Fletcher looks likely to continue his career away from Old Trafford. The likes of West Ham United and West Brom have been mentioned in conjunction with the 30-year-old midfielder. Manchester United may look to cash in during this transfer window rather than lose the player for free if a) they don't intend to resign him or b) he doesn't seem inclined to stay for what will likely be a deep reserve role.

Darren Fletcher, who has been more or less out of football since November 2011, made his return yesterday playing for Manchester United's U-21s.

Fletcher, who has been receiving treatment for ulcerative colitis, played 67 minutes and will likely stay with the juniors for a while. He hasn't played for the first team since Boxing Day 2012, but would be a useful alternative to (partner for) Michael Carrick if he can indeed complete a full recovery.
