Samuel Eto'o has moved on from Everton to join Serie A side Sampdoria on a free transfer.
Eto'o managed just three league goals for the Toffees in his short-lived time at Goodison Park, but they were at least memorable. He scored as a substitute on opening day against his previous club Chelsea, and bagged a brave in the Toffees win over Burnley in Week 9. Romelu Lukaku has taken a step back in his development this season and Eto'o is probably no longer interested in playing second fiddle to a struggling striker on a struggling club. He moves back to Serie A, where he enjoyed some of his best years as a member of Inter. Tue, Jan 27, 2015 04:40:00 PM

Samuel Eto’o is on the verge of a return to Italy, after Sampdoria agreed a two-and-a-half-year deal for the Everton striker today.

Eto’o will travel to the Genoa club on have a medical Monday and it is understood that his contract includes a clause allowing him to become a director after his stint as a player. Earlier in the week, Eto’o’s agent, Claudio Vigorelli, said that his player had chosen Sampdoria – fifth in Serie A – over a more lucrative move to the Brazilian club Santos.

Samuel Eto'o looks primed to get a start for Everton's trip to Newcastle tomorrow, making him an interesting budget forward option for Week 19.

An interesting stat, Eto's has alternated between starting and not starting league games going all the way back to Week 11. Yesterday, he did not start, so if this pattern were to continue, and it makes more sense to tomorrow more than ever with the quick turnaround, then Eto' should be in the XI. Newcastle have conceded nine goals in their last three league games and Eto'o is still capable of bagging a brace any given day. For 7.34m, he can act as a third forward and be a very sneaky play. The question is: will tomorrow mark the beginning of a turnaround for the Toffees.

Samuel Eto'o got a rare start and took advantage of his status with two goals that powered Everton to a 3-1 win over struggling Burnley at Turf Moor.

Samuel Eto'o has mostly played the role of super sub so far this season but the high wages he was reportedly paid over the summer bore fruit today with a brace. Eto'o's goals came on either side of yet another strike from Romelu Lukaku who has recovered from a slow start to the season. Everton will be feeling better about themselves after two consecutive wins and watching Liverpool, Spurs, and City all drop points this weekend.

Roberto Martinez confirms Everton will be near full strength for the visit of Wolfsburg on Thursday at Goodison Park in their opening Europa League match.

No fresh injury concerns for Everton who expect Samuel Eto’o and Sylvain Distin to return to the squad this week after minor problems ruled the duo out of the win over West Brom at The Hawthorns. The former Cameroon striker had a groin complaint while the unfortunate Distin suffered a dead leg during Friday’s final training session and neither were risked after further assessment. Tony Hibbert is also closing in on full fitness; the full-back was last seen against SC Paderborn back in August but the defender has been pencilled in to return at The Liberty for the Capital One Cup next Tuesday.

Everton have announced the signing of veteran striker Samuel Eto'o to a two-year deal on a free transfer after his contract with Chelsea expired at the end of last season.

Looking for depth at the forward position with Arouna Kone returning from injury slowly, Roberto Martinez announced the signing of Samuel Eto'o as a deputy to Romelu Lukaku. In a vacuum, the signing of Eto'o is a solid piece of business as Everton are very thin behind Lukaku. The only concern is that Eto'o is old and expensive and, presumably, resources are limited at Goodison Park. With Sylvain Distin, Gareth Barry and Eto'o there is a lot of money tied up in aging expensive players. It may not happen this season but next season comes with the risk of a high wage bill being spent on players who are declining rapidly.

Unable to land a top level forward in the prime of his career to replace Luis Suarez, Liverpool are reportedly looking at a top level forward on the decline in Samuel Eto'o.

Brendan Rodgers is still searching for someone to start the process of filling the considerable hole in the line-up left by the departure of Luis Suarez. Having failed on Alexis Sanchez, Karim Benzema, and other big name players in the prime of their careers, he is rumored to be considering a big name stop-gap on the downside of his career in the form of Samuel Eto'o. Eto'o wasn't spectacular for Chelsea last season and while he brings different skills than Rickie Lambert seems to be more in that mold than the mold of a significant addition to the starting eleven. Given the wages likely required, this seems like a waste of money and minutes that could be given to one of the younger talents.

Cameroon XI: Itandje, Nyom, Matip, N'Koulou, Bedimo, Enoh, M'Bia, N'Guemo, Choupo-Moting, Moukandjo, Aboubakar

Cameroon will be playing for pride but they are a shell of their potential selves without the services of Samuel Eto'o, who can only be used as a substitute and it is doubtful he will feature at all. Benoit Assou-Ekotto has been dropped this time around. On paper it looks like a clean sheet in store for Brazil, so based on how the tourney has gone thus far, cue a flurry of Cameroon goals.

Cameroon were beaten thoroughly by a goal happy Croatian side and are now eliminated from making it through to the knockout stage after a 0-4 drubbing.

A knee injury for Samuel Eto'o made him unavailable for this one but it looks like it would not have made any difference. Cameroon were on the back foot all evening long and their keeper, Charles Itandje, was not up to the task of stopping much of anything. They still have a match with host Brazil, perhaps a good time to give the youngest players on the squad some experience for the future.

Samuel Eto'o is likely to miss Cameroon's match against Croatia later this week due to a knee injury.

The Cameroonian striker suffered the injury during Cameroon's loss to Mexico and has missed multiple training sessions because of it. He tweeted out yesterday that he is likely to miss the Croatia match due to the knee problem. Cameroon's chances of advancing past the group stages are extremely low and the injury only makes the task more unlikely. Eto'o may return for the last match against Brazil but we don't anticipate the result of that match to matter for either team as the group may already be decided by that time.

Samuel Eto'o is determined to keep on playing in Europe's top leagues and participate in the Champions League next season.

The Cameroonian striker scored 12 goals in his only season at Chelsea and there was controversy about his age during his time there. Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho hinted after the last match of the season that Eto'o will not be returning to Chelsea and the Blues have already acted upon it by signing Diego Costa as a replacement. Eto'o is 33 years old and will not be a great fantasy choice if he ends up playing in the Premier League next season.

Chelsea have reportedly reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid to acquire striker Diego Costa for a fee of £32m.

There have been rumors all season long that linked up Chelsea with Diego Costa and it seems the time has come. Costa has led Atletico Madrid to the Champions League final this year and his team is one point away from winning La Liga. He has 35 goals in 47 appearances and seems like the player Chelsea have been missing all season long. In all likelihood, Costa will be replacing Samuel Eto'o, who no longer has a contract with Chelsea and is not expected to resign. His presence could lead to Chelsea getting rid of Fernando Torres and/or Demba Ba. At the very least, he will seriously hinder their playing time. Costa will be a great fantasy choice next year, as good strikers have flourished even more under Jose Mourinho in the past.

Samuel Eto'o has picked up an injury in training and is very likely to miss Chelsea's match this weekend.

It's unknown if Eto'o simply aggravated his knee injury or if he's picked up a different knock but Jose Mourinho will likely rest him Sunday. Demba Ba or Fernando Torres should get the start and considering both will likely be on their way out this summer, we wouldn't be surprised to see both feature in this match in an attempt to raise their stock for the transfer mark. We also wouldn't trust them in fantasy this week.

Samuel Eto'o is doubtful for Chelsea's match against Liverpool this weekend with a knee injury.

Eto'o missed Chelsea's midweek match against Atletico Madrid but he hopes to be healthy for the second leg. He is the Blues' most in form striker and will be needed if they want to make the Champions League final. Demba Ba is the likeliest to start against Liverpool this weekend but I wouldn't use any Chelsea plays in this match due to the uncertainty around the lineups.

Samuel Eto'o has been ruled out of Chelsea's midweek UCL match against Atletico Madrid with a knee injury.

Eto'o is Chelsea's most in form striker and this is a huge blow for the Blues. The extent of the injury is unknown and there is no word on whether the Cameroonian striker will be able to return for the big Premier League clash against Liverpool this weekend. Without Eto'o, Chelsea will likely start Demba Ba to lead the club at the striker position. If Chelsea can come away from tomorrow's match with a draw or a one goal loss, they should feel good about their chances of advancing. The second leg is next week.
