Pablo Zabaleta will be available for selection when West Ham travel to Watford on Sunday after serving a one-match ban for yellow card accumulation against Liverpool.
Zabaleta is expected to return to his spot at right-back against Watford. Fantasy managers, especially those playing in a format that rewards peripheral stats, could find the Argentine useful if they need to pick up a defender. Zabaleta has posted good defensive numbers this season, as he ranks first amongst all defenders in tackles (37) and fourth in interceptions (23). He should have a busy afternoon against Marco Silva' side, giving him decent value for GW12. Nov 15 - 5:37 PM

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic could be without a handful of his his top defenders for Saturday's game against Liverpool.

Zabaleta will be suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against Crystal Palace. Sam Byram should deputize at right-back but West Ham have bigger fish to fry in defense, with three center-backs considered early doubts. James Collins and Winston Reid both missed the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace, while Jose Fonte picked up a calf injury at the weekend and was forced off in the second-half. If the trio fails to recover in time for the clash with Liverpool, Bilic will only have two natural central defenders at his disposal—Angelo Ogbonna and Declan Rice. Defensive midfielder Cheikhou Kouyaté would be another option should the Hammers stick with a three-man backline.

West Ham announced its first signing of the summer with a move for Manchester City's Pablo Zabaleta.

The long-time Manchester City defender left the Sky Blues after nine seasons, which included two Premier League titles, to join the Hammers on a two-year deal in a free transfer. The 32-year-old said he turned down offers from across Europe in order to remain in the Premier League and will now compete with Sam Byram for the starting right-back spot. ""Sometimes a new challenge is all you need as a person and as a player. I thought my time at City was done. It’s been a fantastic nine years, absolutely brilliant," Zabaleta said. :Manchester City gave me the opportunity to come to this wonderful league, the Premier League, something I’ve been enjoying a lot as a player and of course for me it was probably the right time to move on."

Manchester City confirmed Tuesday's match will be defender Pablo Zabaleta's last at the Etihad in City blue.

Reports suggest Zabaleta was looking for a new two-year contract from the club once his current deal expires this summer. But after almost nine years at the club, Zabaleta announced he will leave on a free this summer with West Ham being linked with a move for the 32-year-old. "Pablo has informed the club he will move to pastures new, but leave behind many happy memories. Fans will have the opportunity to show their appreciation for one of the Club's most loyal and loved servants of recent times against West Brom on Tuesday evening, which will be Pablo's last home appearance."

Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta said he is hoping to return from a knee injury by New Year's Eve.

The veteran right-back left the club's 2-1 comeback win against Arsenal on Sunday at half-time due to a knee problem and will now be assessed in the coming days with hopes of returning before the end of the year with a showdown against Liverpool on New Year's Eve. "Hopefully it is not too bad," Zabaleta said. "Maybe I can have an injection in there and be ready in, I don't know, maybe 10 days. We'll see. I felt it straight away after 15 minutes and I just tried to finish the first half. I was with some pain in the ligament and it was a risk to continue playing, possibly make it worse, and that's why I came off."

Pablo Zabaleta will be assessed after he was forced off against Arsenal due to an apparent knee ligament injury.

The Argentine did not appear for the second half of Sundays clash at the Etihad and Pep Guardiola confirmed after the 2-1 win that Zabaleta was injured. The setback follows quickly on the heels of Ilkay Gundogan, who will miss the remainder of the campaign, although there is no indication at this point on how serious the injury to Zabaleta is. City travel to Hull on Boxing Day, and if Guardiola decides to retain a flat back four, then Bacary Sagna would be the obvious replacement. However, the Citizens have also favoured three central defenders this season which could see a return for John Stones who has been named on the bench for the last two games.

Manchester City will already have its hands full trying to prepare for Barcelona on Tuesday night and now must figure out who to start at right-back.

The Sky Blues received a massive boost on Monday when Pablo Zabaleta returned to training from a foot injury sustained in the club's 4-0 loss to Barcelona at the Camp Nou two weeks ago. Yet manager Pep Guardiola said he has yet to make a decision with 19-year-old Pablo Maffeo and midfielder Fernando also in contention (Bacary Sagna is still recovering from injury) along the same side where Neymar makes his magic happen: "We have to think that we have not got a right back – we have one who has recently played there and one who is 19. We have some players out, and they do."

Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta ended speculation of an exit by confirming he will remain at the club this summer.

The 31-year-old right-back confirmed that he spoke to new manager Pep Guardiola, who assured him that he has a place in the team this season with only one year left on his current contract. Zabaleta will likely play second-fiddle to Bacary Sagna once again this season, but the Argentine said he does not have any interest in leaving the club: "I've always been away from that because I knew from the first day it was my decision [to stay]. I had been told my the new manager that I was part of this squad for this season, so I am more than pleased for this because City was my priority."

Pablo Zabaleta's star fell significantly at the Etihad last season and now comes word that he may be on his way to the Eternal City with Roma.

All the signs are there for a move. Zabaleta is in the final year of his contract. He lost the starting role at City to Bacary Sagna last season. Roma specifically and Serie A in general seem to love fading Premier League outside backs. This has led to a seemingly-reasonable rumor that Zabaleta will be moving to Roma for a fee of £2.5 million. City get his wages off the books and make room for Pep to bring in a defender of his own choosing. Look for more deals like this over the course of the summer as Guardiola transforms his new squad.

Pablo Zabaleta will spend more time on the sidelines with the Argentine full-back set for surgery to remedy a troublesome ankle problem.

Zabaleta suffered a calf strain at Southampton in game week thirty-six and the defender confirmed via his Twitter account that the injury had ended his campaign prematurely: ‘Sadly after an MRI scan I can confirm a muscle tear grade 2 in my left calf which is around 3 weeks off’. However, Zabaleta was expected to be ready for the Copa America which starts in June. But reports now suggest that the 31-year-old will go under the knife to ensure his fitness ahead of the 2016/17 Premier League season meaning Zabaleta will miss the tournament.

Manuel Pellegrini provided a mixed injury update ahead of his sides’ trip to Real Madrid on Wednesday night.

The Chilean boss revealed Yaya Toure had re-joined the group in training after overcoming a muscular problem. But right-back Pablo Zabaleta will miss the remainder of the campaign after suffering a calf strain at St Marys’ on Sunday. Following Tuesdays’ Champions League pre-match media briefing, the 31-year-old provided his own update via Twitter: ‘Sadly after an MRI scan I can confirm a muscle tear grade 2 in my left calf which is around 3 weeks off’. If City do progress to the final then Zabaleta could make the game which is scheduled for May 28 at the San Siro in Milan. He joins David Silva in the treatment room – hamstring – who will also miss around 21-days. Bacary Sagna is set to deputise in his absence.

Manchester City will have to do without Pablo Zabaleta and David Silva for Wednesday's showdown with Real Madrid due to injury.

While Zabaleta didn't feature against Real Madrid in the 0-0 draw at the Etihad in the first leg last week, City could be vulnerable at the right-back position. It will be up to Bacary Sagna to slow down Cristiano Ronaldo, who didn't play in the first leg but has been deemed 100 percent fit for the UEFA Champions League second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu. Meanwhile, the news of David Silva comes as no surprise given that the midfielder is likely set to miss the rest of the Premier League season after suffering a hamstring injury in the 40th minute of the first leg last week.

Manchester City could see the return of several key starters for the busy week ahead after Fernando and Pablo Zabaleta returned to training.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini did not elaborate on the starting status of the injury returnees, but confirmed Vincent Kompany has also joined the group in training: "The injury situation is better – we’ll have the complete squad recovered apart from Samir Nasri. Pablo Zabaleta, Fernando and Vincent Kompany have all worked with the squad normally." Zabaleta has missed the last month with a knee injury while Fernando was absent for the past fortnight due to a hamstring problem. However, the duo may have to wait to regain their starting spots, making them a risky fantasy pick.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini confirmed that while Pablo Zabaleta and Fernando need more time to recover from their respective injuries, Martin Demichelis is set to return to face Swansea City.

Said Pellegrini: "Martin was just a precaution last game – he’s on the squad list. Fernando and Zabaleta are not ready yet. At least two or three weeks more for Fernando. Pablo I hope in the next week he can start working." Demichelis missed the mid-week Champions League win due to a muscle injury, but could now challenge Eliaquim Mangala for the start alongside Nicolas Otamendi. Zabaleta is still struggling with a knee injury while Bacary Sagna continues to see time at right-back, although Gael Clichy got the start on Tuesday.

Manchester City will be without three starting defenders when the club faces off with Southampton on Saturday as Pablo Zabaleta, Vincent Kompany and Eliaquim Mangala were all ruled out with various injuries.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini said at his weekly press conference that Zabaleta has aggravated a preexisting knee injury while Mangala will not play this week: "Zabaleta is out for a couple of weeks more – he has the same injury in the ligament in his knee. He needs a treatment now so he will be out for at least ten days, while Mangala has a muscle problem in his hamstring but I think he will be fit for Stoke." Kompany, meanwhile, continues to struggle with a calf injury that has bothered him for the past month. Martin Demichelis, Bacary Sagna and Nicolas Otamendi are expected to fill in.
