Manchester United sealed a comeback to remember in a 3-2 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Down 2-0 in the 48th minute, Manchester United looked to have come apart at the seams after falling asleep on a quick free kick that led to the second Palace goal. But Chris Smalling quickly cut the lead in half in the 55th minute with a headed effort. Then, in the 76th minute, Romelu Lukaku scored his 99th Premier League goal following a bizarre sequence inside the box that saw Alexis Sanchez's deflected shot hit the crossbar and dropped to the forward inside the are. But the real stunner came in the 91st minute when Nemanja Matic volleyed a remarkable shot with outside of his left foot that beat Wayne Hennessey for the win. Mar 5 - 5:00 PM

Manchester United will be without defensive midfielder Nemanja Vidic for Tuesday's dead rubber Champions League group game with CSKA Moscow at Old Trafford.

Speaking to MUTV on Monday, Mourinho said: "We have problems, we have injuries, Matic is injured and when I say he is injured, he is injured. I am not going to make him play so Matic is out. A couple of others guys are playing every match and they also need a rest. More importantly, the other guys deserve an opportunity to play." Mourinho confirmed that David De Gea will be completely rested on Tuesday with Romero starting and Joel Pereira on the bench to replace him if necessary. Luke Shaw will be in the match day squad but whether he will start or not is still unknown. Paul Pogba is another confirmed starter. Zlatan Ibrahimovic didn't even make the bench at Arsenal on Saturday and Mourinho confirmed that he was suffering fatigue in the knee which ruled him out for months. He was keen to impress that this sort of issue is part of a rehab project on a complex injury and not a major setback.

Injury problems are beginning to mount for Jose Mourinho after Nemanja Matic suffered an unspecified muscular injury at Vicarage Road.

Already without Michael Carrick - working his way back following a procedure to correct an irregular heart rhythm – and Marouane Fellaini [knee] who wasn’t part of the travelling squad on Tuesday; the United boss is likely to be missing another midfielder for the clash with Arsenal. "Matic is injured," he said after the victory over Watford. "I don't know how badly [but] for Matic to tell me he wants to be replaced, he does not do that if it's nothing important." Ander Herrera is poised to come in alongside Paul Pogba who is showing no ill-effects after his recent stint on the sidelines due to a hamstring complaint. Mourinho is also keeping a watchful eye on Anthony Martial who maybe struggling from fatigue. "I think he suffers a little bit with accumulation of matches. I could feel that in the second half. He’s still a young guy and his body, his biological situation has space to improve."

Manchester United have completed the signing of Nemanja Matic from Chelsea on a three-year deal for a fee believed to £40 million.

The 28-year-old defensive midfielder was deemed excess to require at Stamford Bridge with the arrival of Tiemoue Bakayoko and now rejoins manager Jose Mourinho, who brought him to Chelsea in 2014. The Serbian becomes Manchester United's third signing of the summer after the arrival of Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof. Matic will be expected to operate in a holding midfield role alongside Ander Herrera, thus allowing Paul Pogba to play in a more advanced position. Speaking on his newest signing, Mourinho said: "Nemanja is a Manchester United player and a Jose Mourinho player. He represents everything we want in a footballer; loyalty, consistency, ambition, team player. I would like to thank him for his desire to join us because without that, it would be impossible to have him here. I am sure our players and supporters will love him."

Manchester United is reportedly finalizing a summer move for Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic this week.

Reports suggest the Red Devils have agreed to a £40 million move for the Serbian midfielder after missing out on Tottenham's Eric Dier. Chelsea, originally reluctant to let Matic join a Premier League rival, may have no other choice but to let him join Manchester United after Juventus dropped its interest in the central midfielder. The club signed Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko earlier this month and have a surplus of quality players at the position.

Chelsea announced its second major signing of the week with a £40 million move for Tiemoue Bakayoko.

The move looks to spell the end of Nemanja Matic at Chelsea after the midfielder was left out of the club's preseason tour of Asia. The Blues were involved in a battle with Manchester City for Bakayoko, who will form a formidable partnership with N'Golo Kante that looks to be one of the best in the league. "I have grown up watching Chelsea. Signing was the natural thing for me because it is a club I loved very much in my childhood. I am now looking forward to evolving under this fantastic coach (Antonio Conte) and alongside so many great team-mates."

Manchester United are expected to sign Chelsea's Nemanja Matic in the next week.

United manager Jose Mourinho is very keen to sign the player that he brought to Chelsea in 2014 for a fee thought to be in and around £40 million. Matic, who is 28, has reportedly agreed personal terms and a £155,000 per week contract with the Red Devils. The deal is expected to go through before United jet off on their pre-season tour in the USA on July 9th. Matic is being drafted in as a replacement for ageing veteran Michael Carrick, who is 36 in July and entering what is presumed to be the final season of his career after he signed a one year extension to his current contract. Matic is also viewed as a step up from Belgian beanpole Marouane Fellaini. Matic will not be able to replace Carrick's passing ability, however he is an accomplished defensively minded midfielder who is used to the pace of the PL. The move indicates that Antonio Conte will not be letting Cesc Fabregas leave the club this summer, and may pave the way for The Blues to sign Tiemoué Bakayoko from Monaco.

Influential midfielder Nemanja Matic, who missed last weekend through injury, is fit to play for Chelsea against West Brom on Sunday.

Matic was a surprise omission from Antonio Conte's starting XI last weekend, due to a muscle injury, but is set to make his return this weekend. According to Chelsea's official Twitter feed, Conte has confirmed that Matic has trained since Tuesday and is fit. This means Matic will likely regain his place in the starting XI for Sunday's clash with West Brom. However, if Matic is unavailable then Cesc Fabregas would be favored to replace the Serbian international.

Nemanja Matic, a steady presence in Antonio Conte's XI, was a surprise absence today, missing out with a minor thigh muscle injury.

It is not clear if Matic picked up the injury in training yesterday or sometime this morning, but the central midfielder misses his first league match of the season, in which he has started every one. It may come to some as a surprise that he is second in the league in assists, totaling seven so far. Cesc Fabregas deputizes today, getting a rare chance to start. Given the "minor" tag of the injury, Matic probably will be in contention next weekend for Chelsea.

Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic recorded an assist and completed 56 passes in Sunday's victory over Manchester United.

The imposing defensive-midfielder has become an essential figure in the starting XI and for the third straight league match recorded an assist. The assist extended his Premier League total to four, which means he now shares the league-lead with Kevin De Brunye and Dimitri Payet. His success is linked to the partnership formed with N'Golo Kante, who against Manchester United lead Chelsea in passes completed (57) and scored for the first time since moving to Stamford Bridge.

New Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has stated that Nemanja Matic is not for sale.

There have been rumors regarding Matic going to Juventus after Chelsea acquired defensive midfielder N'Golo Kante. However, it seems that Conte is excited to have a choice between the two and that could be a big motivator for Matic. There is a possibility where Chelsea play both together, and move Fabregas to a more advanced position, but either way Matic is not going to be a good fantasy player this season.

Nemanja Matic missed out on Chelsea's FA Cup win due to a head injury.

Matic "got hit by the ball in the back of the head" in training and was feeling slightly dizzy. It sure sounds like Matic could have concussion symptoms and if that's the case, he might be held out of the midweek match against West Brom. If he can't go, expect Ramires or John Obi Mikel to get the start in his place.

Nemanja Matic is likely to play in Chelsea's match tomorrow but is expected to wear a mask.

Matic is not a viable fantasy target in most leagues due to his defensive minded production and the mask doesn't help. It's good news for Chelsea's defense that he'll play, but he shouldn't be played in fantasy.

Nemanja Matic was sent off for getting a second yellow in Chelsea's match against West Ham.

Both of Matic's fouls were not smart and he deservedly got sent off. He will miss gameweek 11 with a one-match ban for the red card. Jose Mourinho was also sent off for having words with the referee and it's unknown what the length of his ban will be. Chelsea's boss should be worried about his job now, as reports have surfaced about him being sacked following the team's horrific start to the season.

Chelsea FC are reeling early in the 2015-2016 season, suffering their third loss in the opening five games after falling victim to Everton today, 3-1.

The Blues may have ended their title-repeat hopes just one month into this season as they now have dropped eleven of a possible fifteen points. The defense once again proved the biggest issue, but the attack was not very crisp either. Nemanja Matic scored a cracker from distance after they had fallen behind by two goals, cued up by Jon Obi Mikel, but the players you would expect to be involved in scoring disappointed again, most noticeably Eden Hazard and Diego Costa. Questions need to be asked about what is happening off the pitch because a roster that has had little downgrade from last season should not experience this drastic of a dropoff and Branislav Ivanovic's decline cannot be the only culprit. Things won't be made any easier with Arsenal as their next opponent.
