Joseph Yobo scored an own goal as Nigeria were eliminated from the World Cup by France.
Nigeria started the game well and pressed France early on but failed to capitalize on their chances. They even scored a beautiful goal that was correctly taken back for an offside. They were simply outmatched in the second half and couldn't create enough pressure to threaten Hugo Lloris. The Nigerians should be going home with their heads up, as they performed better than most anticipated and made it out of the group stages. Mon, Jun 30, 2014 02:05:00 PM

Joseph Yobo captains Nigeria in a big test versus red-hot France. Nigeria qualified for the round of 16 even after losing their last game against Argentina but the African nation faces an equally tough opponent in France.

Joseph Yobo started and ended up playing the entire match against Stoke City on Saturday.

Yobo was questionable to play against Stoke because he pulled out of international duty in midweek but it seems the move was just a precaution and he looked just fine against Stoke. Yobo has found himself a consistent role in Norwich's back line and has averaged 6.4 points per game in his five games. At £8.67M, I would consider playing him, especially when the matchup is right.

Joseph Yobo has pulled out of Nigeria's squad for the friendly against Mexico due to an unspecified strain.

This could just mean that Yobo has decided not to make the 8,000 mile trip for the friendly in an effort to remain fit for Norwich's huge game against Stoke City this weekend. If he is indeed injured, it doesn't sound like it's anything serious and Yobo should be available for Saturday's match. He has been in good form lately and considering Norwich have kept four straight clean sheets at home, he can be a good fantasy option this weekend.

Joseph Yobo has joined Norwich City on loan from Fenerbache.

Yobo, who spent a decade at Everton, will compete for a spot in the center of Norwich's defence with Sebastien Bassong, Ryan Bennett, and the injured Michael Turner. He was a quality Premier League player for years, but hasn't played much in Turkey this season.
