Garry Monk will assess a number of players ahead of this weekends’ visit of Sunderland following the late withdrawal of Leon Britton [illness] and Jefferson Montero [hamstring] for the Jacks trip to St Marys’ on Sunday.
Britton was expected to rejoin the group following a recent groin problem while Montero was rested as a precaution after feeling discomfort during training on Friday. However their absence did not affect Swansea too much as Garry Monk executed a perfectly planned smash and grab raid to take all three points. Even when Marvin Emnes limped to the sidelines on 15 minutes with a thigh problem Swansea remained strong before Jonjo Shelvey struck from 25 yards although Fraser Forster should’ve done better. Swansea will also need to check on winger Modou Barrow following a reckless Ryan Bertrand tackle which resulted in his sending off although initial reports suggest the knee injury he sustained does not appear to be serious. Marvin Emnes has arrived at Swansea City on a loan deal for the remainder of the season from Middlesbrough.

Emnes returns for his second loan stint with the Welsh side, offering another option on the wing in Michael Laudrup's customary 4-3-3 formation. While his services would have been more essential for the past several weeks while the Swans struggled without the presence of Nathan Dyer and Pablo Hernandez, he is still a welcome addition in the squad to stay afloat in the top division.
