Crystal Palace have been dealt a double injury blow following the news that Scott Dann and Jason Puncheon will not play again this season.
Speaking after the come from behind win over Southampton, Roy Hodgson confirmed that Dann and Puncheon will meet with a specialist to determine the best course of action. The pair have been pencilled in for surgery once the swelling subsides. "It's very bad news," he said. "Both have cruciate knee ligament injuries – Scott has got a meniscus injury to his anterior cruciate and Jason has got a rupture in his posterior cruciate." While the loss of Puncheon can be absorbed [only 6 PL starts in 2017/18], plus Palace are well catered for in midfield, the injury to Dann will be particularly hard to take given that Mamadou Sakho [calf] is long-term and Joel Ward [groin] hasn’t featured in over a month. Hodgson admitted he may be forced to strengthen his squad defensively in January window. "It’s not an area up until now we had contemplated improving [until now]." Jan 3 - 4:26 AM

Crystal Palace's start to the season is beginning to make history for all wrong reasons as they once again could not find the net and took a 1-0 loss to Burnley.

Frank de Boer's tenure at Crystal Palace may be a short-lived one, though the Eagles came so very close on several occasions to coming away with a positive result today. They were ultimately done in by an early mistake from Lee Chung-Young, who gift-wrapped a goal for Burnley in the third minute. The two sides were evenly matched during the first half with a Christian Benteke header missing inches wide the best chance for the Eagles. In the second half, Palace took control, dominating possession and putting severe pressure on Burnley's defense, but Scott Dann was particularly frustrated, with one shot cleared off the line and a header from point blank range that somehow missed the target late on. Palace now hold the distinction of being the first club in the top flight to begin a season with four losses and no goals since 1924.

Crystal Palace will be without centre-backs Scott Dann and James Tomkins for the midweek trip to Southampton.

The Eagles loosened Chelsea’s grip, ever so slightly, on the title with a superb Stamford Bridge performance which saw Sam Allardyce’s side open a four-point gap between them and the drop zone with an unexpected 2-1 win. But, the victory came at a cost, and Palace could lose defenders Dann and Tomkins for several important weeks during the run-in. Tomkins failed to appear for the second half because of a calf problem while his replacement, Scott Dann, lasted barely 15 minutes before he was stretchered off in agony. Diego Costa accidentally caught Dann on the ankle with his follow-through following a snap shot, and as he went down, teammate Joel Ward landed on top of him. Speaking after the game, Sam Allardyce revealed Dann "felt something go" in his knee, and the club fear the worst. Damien Delaney and Martin Kelly are poised for return on Wednesday in a match Palace can ill-afford to lose.

Crystal Palace won't have captain Scott Dann available to face Stoke City this weekend, according to manager Sam Allardyce.

The center-half struggled with an injury late in the club's embarrassing 4-0 loss to Sunderland at home last weekend and has not trained this week. The injury to Dann could mean a debut start for deadline day arrival Mamadou Sakho. Meanwhile, Jeffrey Schlupp is set to return after missing the weekend with a hamstring injury. "We've only got an injury to Scott Dann," Allardyce said in his post-match press conference. "Jeffrey Schlupp's back in training and we do have the long-term injuries of course, we've still got those out. There's only Scott Dann out. He came off last week and hasn't recovered."

Scott Dann and Christian Benteke scored as Crystal Palace secured a confidence boosting win over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

In a dour first half, both sides had their chances but it was Wilfried Zaha who looked a cut above the rest. Junior Stanislas also had a few chances. It was Palace who grabbed the lead early in the second half through Scott Dann. A Cabaye cross from a corner was cleared into open play and Scott Dann slid in to put an unstoppable finish beyond Artur Boruc. Zaha continued to be a menace while Stanislas was hauled off. Josh King perhaps should have levelled from a header and Wilshere hit the post before Benteke solidified the 3 points late on for the Eagles with an injury time header.

Sam Allardyce will run the rule over several of his players ahead of this weekend’s trip to the Olympic Stadium.

Speaking during Thursdays media briefing, Allardyce said that he "thinks" Christian Benteke will be okay to play, although he may require an injection after damaging shoulder ligaments following an awkward fall against Swansea earlier this month. Loic Remy is fit but he won’t be ready for 90 minutes just yet as he’s only played one half of football during 2016/17. "He's in his own pre-season." Scott Dann [hamstring], James McArthur [calf] and Wayne Hennessey are among those who will be checked: "Our injury list has to reduce as quickly as possible. I'm not certain on the players who will be available until tomorrow." Jason Puncheon, who was rested in the FA Cup, has been pencilled in for a return.

Crystal Palace will have to field a team of fresh faces and new names against Bolton Wanderers due to a multitude of injuries.

Manager Sam Allardyce exhibited a laundry list of nine injuries, not including two players on international duty at at the African Cup of Nations, in his prematch press conference ahead of Saturday's FA Cup tie: "There's some variation, some longer than others. Dann and McArthur should be back reasonably quickly, Connor's long-term, Benteke should be okay for next week if he plays with an injection, Mandanda we're not so sure about. Puncheon and Hennessey have got knocks, so they stay behind today." The good news of the lot seems to be Benteke, who suffered a shoulder injury that was feared to be serious. However, the club will be without five starters from the New Year's loss to Arsenal.

Crystal Palace expects its captain in Scott Dann to return to face Leicester City this weekend but it will likely come off the bench.

The defender has missed the last three Premier League matches after sustaining a hamstring injury in the last League Cup game, but has trained for the past full week. However, manager Alan Pardew said he doesn't want to break up the partnership that has formed in his absence between Damien Delaney and James Tomkins: "It might be a slight risk to play Scott Dann from the start and I don't think the two other centre-halves deserve that, the way they've played. So I'll go with the two and Scotty will probably go on the bench. I wouldn't have been able to do that last year, so it's nice to have that luxury."

Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann will head for a scan today after limping out of last nights’ EFL Cup tie at Southampton with a suspected muscle injury.

With less than 20 minutes gone at St Marys’ Dann pulled up, clutching his hamstring before hobbling to the sidelines in what was his 100th appearance for the club. The 29-year-old is an integral part of the Palace defence and to lose him at this stage of the season would be a massive blow for Alan Pardew. Damien Delaney is a certain starter this weekend while there was some surprising news regarding James Tomkins who should make the game as well. Tomkins left Selhurst Park on crutches following the win over Stoke but chairman Steve Parish says his "knock" looks OK while Pardew feels he "may be [ready] for the weekend [after making] a speedy recovery." Martin Kelly can also play centrally although following the loss of Pape Souaré for up-to six months the defender is likely to be deployed at left-back.

Crystal Palace have Scott Dann to thank after he scored a goal in the third minute of stoppage time to secure a 1-1 draw at home to Bournemouth.

Scott Dann stole the show with a powerful header into the back of net in the final minutes of the match. The goal capped off a strong second-half performance. Crystal Palace were flat in the first and were lucky to be down just 0-1 at the half. The second half saw improvement due to the introduction of Wilfried Zaha and formation change to a 4-3-3. Palace looked the better side late on, which is why the goal was deserved.

Crystal Palace will have a difficult time dealing with Manchester United on Wednesday following the news that Scott Dann and Joel Ward are injured.

Manager Alan Pardew confirmed that news in his pre-match press conference as the club looks to have a fully fit squad to face Watford in the FA Cup semifinals this weekend. Ward will be missing due to a knock sustained in the club's 1-1 draw with Arsenal over the weekend. Meanwhile, despite claiming he was fit to play, Dann will miss the midweek clash after he picked up a foot injury in the first half against the Gunners, which he played through. Without the defenders, Martin Kelly will surely start at right-back while Adrian Mariappa is likely to get the call at center-back alongside Damien Delaney.

Crystal Palace could not find much silver-lining as it continues to drop down the Premier League table with yet another loss after dropping a 2-1 result against Bournemouth.

The Eagles have now lost five consecutive Premier League matches in an incredibly poor run of form that have seen them score only two goals in their last seven matches. Scott Dann added to that tally to give Crystal Palace the lead in the 27th minute with a header for his fourth goal of the season—and the seventh goal from a Crystal Palace defender—but the defense could not hold off Bournemouth for much longer. Palace has dropped into the bottom half of the table and is just 10 points removed from the bottom three.

Scott Dann scored his third Premier League goal of the season as Crystal Palace drew 1-1 with Everton at Goodison Park.

Dann put the Eagles up 1-0 when he turned Jason Puncheon's corner kick into Tim Howard's net in the 76th minute on Monday. The lead would only last for five minutes before Romelu Lukaku continued his great form with an equalizer. A neutral observer might saw that the result flattered Palace slightly given the number of times (three) that Everton hit the woodwork but Alan Pardew will take it.

Crystal Palace was shut out for the fifth time in league play this season—and third time in the past four games—after failing to convert in a 1-0 loss to Sunderland at home.

It was Scott Dann's error in the 80th minute that led to Jermain Defoe's match-winner for Sunderland as the defender allowed Defoe to beat him to the ball at the edge of the area with only goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey to beat. Dann tried to shield a through ball from Billy Jones away from Defoe instead of clearing it, but the forward fought through Dann's effort and past Hennessey before putting the ball in an empty net. Alan Pardew looked to infuse some energy into his side by starting Connor Wickham (his first start since August) up top, but the Eagles scoring drought continued in the form of six goals in their past nine matches.

Yannick Bolasie scored early and Scott Dann scored late as Crystal Palace handed Jurgen Klopp his first loss as manager of Liverpool on Sunday.

Scott Dann came free about six yards from the net and he turned Yohan Cabaye's corner kick into an Anfield winner. The goal was Dann's second in eleven Premier League starts this season and both have represented the difference in 2-1 league wins for Alan Pardew's side. The win represents Palace's first real quality win of the season and pushes them up to 8th in the table heading into the international break.
