Crystal Palace will have a difficult time dealing with Manchester United on Wednesday following the news that Scott Dann and Joel Ward are injured.
Manager Alan Pardew confirmed that news in his pre-match press conference as the club looks to have a fully fit squad to face Watford in the FA Cup semifinals this weekend. Ward will be missing due to a knock sustained in the club's 1-1 draw with Arsenal over the weekend. Meanwhile, despite claiming he was fit to play, Dann will miss the midweek clash after he picked up a foot injury in the first half against the Gunners, which he played through. Without the defenders, Martin Kelly will surely start at right-back while Adrian Mariappa is likely to get the call at center-back alongside Damien Delaney. Apr 19 - 1:16 PM

Crystal Palace could not find much silver-lining as it continues to drop down the Premier League table with yet another loss after dropping a 2-1 result against Bournemouth.

The Eagles have now lost five consecutive Premier League matches in an incredibly poor run of form that have seen them score only two goals in their last seven matches. Scott Dann added to that tally to give Crystal Palace the lead in the 27th minute with a header for his fourth goal of the season—and the seventh goal from a Crystal Palace defender—but the defense could not hold off Bournemouth for much longer. Palace has dropped into the bottom half of the table and is just 10 points removed from the bottom three.

Scott Dann scored his third Premier League goal of the season as Crystal Palace drew 1-1 with Everton at Goodison Park.

Dann put the Eagles up 1-0 when he turned Jason Puncheon's corner kick into Tim Howard's net in the 76th minute on Monday. The lead would only last for five minutes before Romelu Lukaku continued his great form with an equalizer. A neutral observer might saw that the result flattered Palace slightly given the number of times (three) that Everton hit the woodwork but Alan Pardew will take it.

Crystal Palace was shut out for the fifth time in league play this season—and third time in the past four games—after failing to convert in a 1-0 loss to Sunderland at home.

It was Scott Dann's error in the 80th minute that led to Jermain Defoe's match-winner for Sunderland as the defender allowed Defoe to beat him to the ball at the edge of the area with only goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey to beat. Dann tried to shield a through ball from Billy Jones away from Defoe instead of clearing it, but the forward fought through Dann's effort and past Hennessey before putting the ball in an empty net. Alan Pardew looked to infuse some energy into his side by starting Connor Wickham (his first start since August) up top, but the Eagles scoring drought continued in the form of six goals in their past nine matches.

Yannick Bolasie scored early and Scott Dann scored late as Crystal Palace handed Jurgen Klopp his first loss as manager of Liverpool on Sunday.

Scott Dann came free about six yards from the net and he turned Yohan Cabaye's corner kick into an Anfield winner. The goal was Dann's second in eleven Premier League starts this season and both have represented the difference in 2-1 league wins for Alan Pardew's side. The win represents Palace's first real quality win of the season and pushes them up to 8th in the table heading into the international break.

Crystal Palace remain optimistic that defender Scott Dann can recover from injury in time for the trip to Vicarage Road next Sunday.

Dann was a notable omission from the Palace team sheet on Sunday as the Eagles visited White Hart Lane in the early kick-off. Alan Pardew confirmed post-match that the 28 year-old had injured his calf during the final training session on Saturday. Damien Delaney recovered from a groin complaint to replace Dann who joined team mate Joel Ward in the treatment room. Although the defender will not feature in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday v Charlton, Dann is believed to be in with a chance for GW7 when Palace take on Watford. Connor Wickham is another player who should be close to making a return having failed a late fitness test.

Palace debutant Bakary Sako makes the headlines and wins the points against Villa, but it is old head Scott Dann that is the star of the show…

There’s talk that Palace will go back in for QPR striker Charlie Austin before the transfer window closes and he might be the final piece of the jigsaw. Glenn Murray was back leading the line after starting on the bench against Arsenal, but it is the midfield area where Palace really threaten. Jason Puncheon was impressive again, assisting the opener – only one Englishman (Jordan Henderson) has more PL assists since the start of last season. Another set-piece too, that’s 16 in Alan Pardew’s reign. So long as Puncheon is on set-piece duty he is a useful FL addition. Bakary Sako had more shots than any other player has managed this season (six, five on target) and got the winner. With center-back Scott Dann providing the assist – proving that last season’s four were no fluke – to add to his goal.

Crystal Palace fans are looking forward to the start of this season more than any other in recent memory, but can Alan Pardew find the right balance between craft and graft to improve on last season’s 10th place…

All of the early season transfer talk was about last season’s star-man Yannick Bolasie, some of it prompted by the man himself it should be said (‘favouriting’ a Tweet linking him with a move to Tottenham). That was blown out of the water with the arrival of Yohan Cabaye. But there will be some – including on the playing staff – wondering how it will impact on the team. Pardew favored a 4-5-1 formation last season, with a holding duo of Mile Jedinak, Joe Ledley or James McArthur releasing the more extravagant talents of Bolasie, Jason Puncheon and Wilfried Zaha. You have to think the team will be built around the attacking talents of Cabaye, based on his 17 goals and 14 assist in just 76 starts for Newcastle. And a fit again Jordan Mutch also provides an option not available last season. Lots to ponder for Pardew and FL managers at Palace this season…

Crystal Palace have offered a new £65k a week contract to Scott Dann to fend off interest from other PL clubs…

There is evidently some money sloshing about at Crystal Palace. Only five teams in the PL – West Brom, Leicester and the three new boys – have spent less than Palace over the last five seasons. During that time the club has turned itself into an established mid-table PL team, managing its business shrewdly and subtly. Last season’s 10th place was worth £77 million and it seems the purse strings have been loosened a little. First came Yohan Cabaye in a £12m+ deal, then multi-million bids for Chelsea’s Loic Remy and QPR’s Charlie Austin. And now a new £65k a week deal for center-back Scott Dann, who has been subject to interest from Everton. Of course, going public that they are happy to pay £65k a week to their central defenders doesn’t do any harm when trying to appeal to bigger hitters (are you listening messrs Remy and Austin?). But also says loud and clear that Palace mean business.

Everton have tabled an £8 million offer for Crystal Palace center-back Scott Dann…

After missing out on Juventus defender Angelo Ogbonna, who is in talks with West Ham, Everton have turned their attention to Palace center-back Scott Dann. Roberto Martinez has tracked Dann since the end of last season and is now ready to do business, with just two senior central defenders in place and the season a month away. With Sylvain Distin and Antolin Alcaraz both released this summer, Martinez is desperate for cover for Phil Jagielka and John Stones and hoping that Liverpool-born Dann can be persuaded to return to his home town. Indications are that Palace are open to letting Dann go, but want more than the £8m offered.

Crystal Palace have suffered a further transfer setback with Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson the latest to reject an approach…

Alan Pardew could be forgiven for thinking his summer would’ve gone a little more smoothly that it has thus far. Palace – and Chairman Parish – have money to spend and identified plenty of targets, but none are biting at the moment. So far Chelsea’s Loic Remy and QPR pair Charlie Austin and Matt Phillips have blanked offers, with PSG’s Yohan Cabaye not yet gone beyond first base. And now Bournemouth front man Callum Wilson has joined in, stating he is not interested in a move. A swap deal involved Palace striker Dwight Gayle was floated, but this week shot out of the water by Wilson insisting he is going nowhere. Still, Palace can console themselves with having the PL’s most effective attacking centre-back already on the books. Scott Dann’s four assists (from 33 matches) last season was a division high. Perhaps they should start him up front…

Alan Pardew confirmed the loss of Scott Dann at the King Power Stadium on Saturday probably helped the Eagles to their third win in four games at Brede Hangeland came on to gain all the plaudits in a dour match.

Although the Palace manager was certain Dann was not concussed he did advise that his defender was feeling "a little uncomfortable" following a blow to the head and admitted he couldn’t risk sending him out for the second half. His replacement - Hangeland – was the best player on the pitch according to Pardew "[he won] everything in the air, [was] great defensively and contributed to the goal." A performance which may be enough to earn him a starting place on Wednesday night against Newcastle and a game in which Marouane Chamakh [broken nose] is expected to return - captain Mile Jedinak [ankle] remains a doubt.

Alan Pardew avoided an FA Cup upset in his first game as Crystal Palace boss as the Premier League side beat non-league Dover to reach the fourth round.

This was a professional performance from Crystal Palace in a potential banana-skin of a match-up in Alan Pardew's first game. Dover, 86 places below Palace in the league ladder, went into it on the back of a 16-game unbeaten run but could not compete with the Eagles, failing to register a single shot on target. Defender Scott Dann scored a first-half double, volleying in the opener before heading in a second. A Dwight Gayle strike and Kevin Doyle's close-range goal secured Palace a first win since November.

Crystal Palace put the onus on defending and created a few chances to possibly win them the match, but the will take the road point in a 0-0 draw with Spurs.

Neil Warnock arrived with his team by bus and they decided to park it in front of Julian Speroni. The strategy paid off assuming a draw was good enough for the Eagles and by all accounts, it was. Along with sound defending, a few chances were created, including a shot by Dann that took an excellent keeper like Hugo Lloris to save. Jason Puncheon and Yannick Bolasie provided the most attacking threat while Mile Jedinak failed to find magic from a set piece. Palace now have to see if they can next defend against a Stoke side who just scored thrice on the Gunners.

Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann looks set for an extended spell on the sidelines after straining knee ligaments during the defeat to Hull at the KC Stadium.

Neil Warnock tasted defeat for the first time since taking over the Eagles with a disappointing loss on Humberside today. Coming off the back of two straight wins Palace were full of confidence but after only 12 minutes the team were called into a defensive reshuffle as Dann was replaced because of suspected medial collateral ligament damage - a scan will confirm the full extent of the problem. The injury – similar to that suffered by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain prior to the World Cup in Brazil – could keep the defender out for around two months with Jamaican international Adrian Mariappa waiting in the wings having previously featured twice under the new coach.
