Brad Jones will likely miss Liverpool's match on Monday against Swansea.
The goalkeeper left Friday's match with an injury and he's expected to miss at least week 19. He is getting a scan on his thigh to learn the extent of the injury. Simon Mignolet will start on Monday while Danny Ward will be promoted from the practice squad to act as backup. Sat, Dec 27, 2014 05:17:00 PM

Liverpool goalkeeper Brad Jones suffered an injury early in today's match and was replaced by Simon Mignolet.

Jones had won the starting job from Mignolet after subbing in for him earlier in the season due to an injury but it's now an injury to Jones that has forced him off the pitch. Mignolet will be an average fantasy option in the Reds' match against Swansea on Sunday.

Brendan Rodgers has indicated that he will stay with Brad Jones between the sticks for the foreseeable future, and the keeper is available for the bare minimum 1m in the Yahoo game.

First, a disclaimer is needed: Buyer Beware. Jones is only attractive as one's backup keeper in the Yahoo game, as Liverpool are a mess right now and facing Arsenal next. There should be no plans to actually use him this weekend in any format. However, should the unlikely scenario occur where the Reds turn things around defensively, and Jones somehow supplants Mignolet long term, then he could be rotated in as a fantasy starter in certain weeks. With the transfer window coming it would seem that Jones would only keep his job until the New Year, when Brendan Rodgers can either decide to try and sell Migs and bring in someone else or give him back the job, seeing has how his wages are about 10 times that of Jones. There is reason to think Jones could slot in as a starter in your Yahoo XI between now and then with home to Leicester in Week 20 looking the most attractive, but best to keep him benched until you see something positive first.
