France international Bacary Sagna expected to sign a new two-year contract with Arsenal worth £70,000-a-week.
In a way this eliminates two birds with one stone. Arsenal will not be in the market for a right full-back and no one will be taking Sagna away from the Gunners anytime soon either. Manager Arsene Wenger said that the deal could be decided sometime within next two weeks. Sagna's current contract expired at the end of the season and Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City have all reportedly expressed interest. The talented 30-year old has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury, but there's a 50% chance he'll be in the lineup this week against the Blues at Etihad Stadium. Bacary Sagna has missed out on two consecutive Premier League matches and isn't certain to return for Arsenal's critical trip to the Etihad on Saturday.

It is difficult to place any value on either Sagna or Carl Jenkinson with the quality of the opponent combined with the uncertainty over which of the two right backs will start. Seems like a wise choice to steer well clear of either of these two for Week 16.

Bacary Sagna continues to nurse the hamstring issue that caused him to miss Arsenal's Week 14 win over Hull and it will cause him to miss Week 15 vs. Everton as well.

With the French right back sidelined against for the match against Everton, Carl Jenkinson will be tasked with containing Steven Pienaar and Bryan Oviedo the latter of whom has scored twice in two starts since coming in for the injured Leighton Baines. Jenkinson made his own contribution against Hull doing his part in Arsenal keeping another clean sheet and also providing a nice cross for Nicklas Bendtner's goal. Sagna should at least be in contention for Week 16 but more on that as it draws closer.

Bacary Sagna and Olivier Giroud both came on as late substitutes in France's huge World Cup qualifying win against Ukraine on Wednesday.

With Mathieu Debuchy playing well for club and country, Bacary Sagna is unlikely to be a starter for France in Brazil. The prognosis for Olivier Giroud is less clear. Karim Benzema scored in the win and has now scored in three of his last four qualifiers but his overall performances and the quality of the opposition against which he scored opens the door for Giroud to start ahead of the Real Madrid man. Giroud's production for Arsenal has slowed down since his blazing start but he is still among the more productive forwards in the Premier League and if he continues to maintain that status for the entire season he may eclipse Benzema in the starting line-up. Regardless, given the 2-0 deficit France faced heading into the match, both players will be thrilled to be going to Brazil as participants.

Bacary Sagna, who missed the West Brom match a hamstring complaint, could be involved in Week 8 against Norwich City.

The news is hardly definitive but it sounds like Bacary Sagna has an even or better chance of taking some part in Arsenal's match against the Canaries on Saturday. The lack of certainty means that both Sagna and Carl Jenkinson are likely to get playing time but the proportion going to each is very much in doubt. As a result, it is probably the wise move to ignore Arsenal's right back spot when considering your fantasy line-up.

Bacary Sagna will miss Week 7 against West Bromwich Albion and could miss Week 8 after the international break as well as he recovers from a hamstring injury.

Arsenal leaned heavily on Bacary Sagna in the early weeks of the season as both a right back and a deputy center back when illness and suspension hit Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny respectively. They are fortunate that his injury comes with Thomas Vermaelen back and the two first choice center backs also healthy and available. Carl Jenkinson will deputize on the right of the defense and at 6.49 is a decent budget choice in defense.

Arsenal's defensive injury woes were alleviated by the availability of Bacary Sagna and Keiran Gibbs who were uncertain coming out of the weekend.

With the seemingly serious injury to Laurent Koscielny, the health of Sagna, Gibbs, and Monreal (who returned as a late-match substitute after missing out over the weekend) is critical to Arsenal. PhysioRoom.com are reporting that Vermaelen will be out until mid-to-late September which means Arsenal will likely move Sagna in to partner Mertesacker with Monreal/Gibbs on the left and Jenkinson on the right. Tell us again why Arsenal hasn't purchased someone like Etienne Capoue who can play both as a holding midfielder (last weekend's emergency need) and center back (the current disaster).

With contract talks between Bacary Sagna and Arsenal stalled the rumors are swirling of a move to big-spenders Monaco.

Sagna has seen his effectiveness diminish at the same time he is looking for a new, presumably better, contract - not a good combination. With Monaco looking for big names to spend on and Sagna hitting his 30th birthday, it might be time for Arsenal to sell (relatively) high and either promote Carl Jenkinson or look for an alternative on the transfer market.
