Charles N'Zogbia made his first appearance of the season under Remi Garde as Villa gained a valuable point against Manchester City.
The arrival of Garde signaled a bunch of changes for the Villains as Jordan Veretout, Jordan Amavi, and Carles Gil all returned to the starting eleven and Charles N'Zogbia came in in the second half to earn his first Premier League minutes of the season. We know N'Zogbia has been an effective fantasy player when he has been given a chance in the past so it is worth monitoring his playing time as Garde continues to assess his options. Aston Villa played to a 0-0 final against Sporting Braga, with Christian Benteke noticeably left out of action.

With a move to Liverpool apparently imminent, the Belgian striker spent the evening in the stands, as Tim Sherwood's side came up without a goal on the heels of a loss against Fulham earlier in the week. It is of note that Sherwood deployed a 4-4-1-1 with Carles Gil occupying the role behind the striker. Charles N'Zogbia came up with the best chance of the day though as the midfield situation is one to monitor in the coming weeks. There could be a value pick among the bunch though the loss of Benteke would limit the potential.

Charles N'Zogbia was very active in Aston Villa's win and should earn another start against Swansea this weekend.

N'Zogbia put on two shots on target and registered an assist in Aston Villa's 4-0 win over Sunderland. The midfielder is a very talented player who is being given a chance by new manager Tim Sherwood and we would expect him to continue doing well. He is a very risky play going forward but has the kind of upside and low ownership usage that can shoot you up the standings.

Aston Villa's Charles N'Zogbia was fairly average in his first match of the season but his fantasy upside remains high.

The Villa midfielder has missed a long time due to injury and this was his first competitive match in over a year. WIth that in mind, he was still able to put a shot on target, win two fouls, and complete a cross for a total of six fantasy points. That was with him only playing 70 minutes. This sort of production should be expected from N'Zogbia and a goal or an assist would have made this a great fantasy day. If he continues to play and take free kicks, N'Zogbia can provide a good fantasy floor with a huge upside.

Aston Villa fielded what looked to be close to a possible XI for their opener next weekend against Stoke City, and could not come up with a goal in a disappointing 0-0 final against Serie A side Parma.

Charles N'Zogbia was handed a start but his promising preseason hit a bump today, as he and his fellow Villans could not create many chances. The match featured the debut of their newest signing, Aly Cissokho, who came on as a 2nd half substitute and will likely be pushing to start the opener. The sharpest attacking player may have been Jack Grealish, who's cameo in the final half hour offered some excitement. Keep him on your watchlist.

Charles N'Zogbia has looked great in Aston Villa's pre-season matches and could be a sneaky fantasy contributor this season.

N'Zognia missed the entire season last year due to a serious achilles injury but the midfielder is back and looks good in pre-season matches. He also scored a spectacular free-kick against Dallas. The free-kick duty combined with Aston Villa's need for creativity and goals could result in N'Zogbia being a productive fantasy asset that comes in at only £4.94M in the Yahoo! Fantasy game.

Aston Villa midfielder Charles N'Zogbia could be back by August, according to Paul Lambert.

N'Zogbia missed the entire season with an achilles problem but could recover in time for next season. Aston Villa have struggled in midfield and N'Zogbia can provide some stability at a vulnerable position. Expect him to take a long time to get back to fitness and to get his touch back as he's been out for more than a year. He will not be a fantasy option for the first half of the season.

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert doesn't think winger Charles N'Zogbia will be able to return from his achilles tendon injury this season.

N'Zogbia suffered the injury in the preseason and was initially supposed to return around December-January. His injury turned out to be worse than expected. The Frenchman is going through rehabilitation but Villa don't think he will be able to play in a Premier League game this season.

Aston Villa winger Charles N'Zogbia has a target return date towards the end of the calendar year after having an Achilles operation in June.

N'Zogbia will likely be out for the remainder of 2013 and should be back at the beginning of the new year but it's unknown if he will be able to regain any kind of role at Villa.
